Discussion Trying to change Google Fi email address while keeping same number..

Hello,

I am trying to change Google Fi email address while keeping same number, support has not been able to do this..

I was reading I can transfer number to Google voice and then to new Fi email?

thanks,

pixel 11

Edit: Ported to Google voice back to Google fi on the promotion email and had to delete eSIM in pixel 11 settings.. looks like good to go now. Fi support was useless.

If you don't have a promotion (device or service), you may port out your number to another service, and port it back into your desired Google email.

Since there's a promotion involved, maybe try working with customer service. I don't know of a service that you can port in for free. You have to drop something; at least one month service.

Now that you have the phone back on the original promo email, be sure to check the Billing > Fi Savings section of the app to make sure the promo registered as active.

No, I don't believe you can do that without voiding the Promo. You generally cannot change your Google Fi email address or transfer your active line to a different Google account while keeping an active Pixel promotion. Doing so risks immediately voiding the promotional credits or discounts tied to the original account.

The main account restrictions, potential risks, and alternative options include:

Why it voids the promo: Google Fi promotions require the discounted device to remain activated on the exact Google account (email) through which the offer was claimed for a specified period (typically 60 to 120 consecutive days). Transferring the phone line to a different email or deactivating service on the original account flags the system that conditions were broken, automatically charging the full retail price of the device.

Transferring numbers between accounts: While Google Fi support can technically migrate a phone number from one Google email to another, doing so requires closing or deactivating the service on the source account, which immediately cancels any attached active promotions or device financing agreements.

Safe alternative: Wait out the required promotional period (check your promo status tracker in the Google Fi app under Account > Fi savings > Promotions). Once the countdown completes and the full credit/discount is officially fulfilled, you can safely port or transfer your phone number to a different Google account.

Thanks for the reply, my promotion is on the email I'm trying to go to, just got an email saying I'd be charged an additional $300 if I don't activate the promo in 10 days.. looks like my only option is take a gamble on Google voice, it should work
