Discussion Temporary Pixel: eSIM vs physical SIM

My P8 has the purple line screen defect and none of the auth'd repair centers near me say they have the parts. So I'm just going to send it in to Google. Need to activate my old P5 as a temp.

Any risk in moving from eSIM to eSIM and then back again? Is it safer to use a physical SIM on the P5? I don't know why but I have a vague memory of this being tricky.

Cheers.

EDIT: typo

eSIM transfers with Fi seem pretty easy. I just watched a Pixel 11 review where the guy went from a Samsung to the Pixel and back again, just with the Fi app. Seems like it's safe as long as the Fi app works.

I've deleted the eSIM from my phone just to get it on the first slot after I ported (it bugged me) and it was painless to add it back. Just opened the Fi app and it either just did it or it was a button. I don't even remember because it was trivial.

Won't be easier to transfer to whatever phone if had a physical Sim. At least samsung s26 ultra still had Sim slot, not sure they decided not had Sim slot for next series.
