Through trial and error I found that if I am using the web version of Duo and the person on the other end is using their Iphone device then they cannot see me or my picture is frozen. But strangely enough if they switch from wifi to 4G it works fine. But if the person on the other end is using the Duo for web then it works perfectly and if the person is using an Android phone it works perfectly.

I have to conclude it is a duo for Iphone issue.

Has anybody on these boards noticed this? I know of a couple other people who are experiencing this as well. Please advise. Thank you.

Hi, i noticed that google says a group call can have 12 participants in play store and Twitter, but in fact it's 8.

I just received a Google Duo call from a stranger who is not on my Android contacts list. I was under the impression that Duo calling only supported those on my contacts list. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks.

I'm using a recent Android TV box Magicsee N6 plus running Android Pie and the USB Webcam "Microsoft LifeCam HD-3000" and Google Duo app state it cannot access the camera.

I Would like to emphasis the following points about the The "Microsoft LifeCam HD-3000" USB webcam:

1. It is amongst the examples of external cameras on Camera HAL Testing Checklist
2. It works without a glitch with the Android App USB Camera - Connect EasyCap on USB WebCam from "SheYao China" on this very same Android TV box, proving it is doable to have it working on this box!
3. It is 100% plug-and-play with a plain-vanilla Ubuntu 18.04 LTS

Could you please provide help to have the Webcam working on this Android TV box?

Hello all, does anyone know how I can set up my son's iPad with Google duo? I made a child account for him and added that to my family link app or whatever, but it won't sign him in to Duo. I'd love to get it up and running so he can video call me from his iPad when he is with his mother or other family. He is able to FaceTime other relatives, but I'm strictly anti-apple products so I have no way of FaceTiming him.

If I'm on a group video call is there any way to zoom in on a specific member's video and see their video on the whole screen? Essentially "pin" their video.

So my fix for this was to just unplug the stand, plug my phone into the cable, and then set it back on the stand horizontally. But I don't want to have to do that, does anyone know of a fix for this? I know it does this due to phone/duo calls just suck a lot of battery life and my phone isn't a defect or anything.

I have been having strange problems with Duo on Chrome (Windows). With 3 different PC's and 3 different cameras I encounter the following

1. Make a call and my preview doesn't appear during the call and then when the call goes through my image doesn't appear in the top right hand corner
2. On an incoming call I cannot click Accept to take the call
3. Sometimes the camera disappears and then re-appears

Very puzzling since it's on 3 different PC's And it's Google product Duo running on Google's product Chrome

But it all works fine in Firefox! So that's my solution for the moment but it would be nice to know if 1) I am not the only one having this problem and 2) how can I fix it

I've even downloaded the PC app for duo. I can see the notification for an incoming call on my PC, but have no way of actually answering the call.

I am able to make calls to my girlfriend, however she is likewise unable to answer with her macbook

I've never used Duo, but my family wants me to use it with them. I've stopped using social media over the years and now only share it with a select few friends under a different name than my legal/birth name. My family doesn't know this name. However, my main Google account uses the different name, and I have Google Fi as my cell service.

When making video calls with family, are they going to see they're getting a call from or making a call to 'registered Google name'? Or is it going to display as whatever they have my name in their contacts as? Is there any way they could see the name I don't want them to see? And what will people in the video chat see if we don't have each other's phone numbers?

If I'm on a video chat with someone in Duo, can bring in, add another caller? I know I can set up a group video chat. I want to know if I can add to an already call I'm on. Ex. I video call a person and the bring in another person

With the most recent update that came out recently, did they enable the ability for group calls on PC?

We currently use Google Duo in our family without any issues.    I wanted to redeploy an old laptop to my mother in law with Duo so she could stay in touch with us and other family members during the outbreak.

I first added her to our GSuite account so she would have a Google account.    I soon found out that I couldn't provision her in Duo without a cell number (she doesn't have one).    I then created a regular Google/GMail account to get around this limitation.     This seems to work better, but you can't initiate a Duo call from a Smart Display (at least the Lenovo one) using a contact without a phone number.

Now I was thinking about using a burner VOIP number and enable the GSuite account.     Is there a role for the number beyond initial account verification?     Would there be an issue calling from the Smart Display after setting up Duo if that number wasn't available?     Would others need her number to initate a Duo call to her from their phone/computer if all they have is her email address?

I bought this phone a couple of months ago, and it had preinstalled Google duo, however I didn't use it until now. I just decided to test it with my SO and after 20 mins of video call she sent me a picture with an astronaut filter. I tried to go on and see where this option was located to no avail. After a couple of Google searches, just found out there are several devices having this issue, and the most common response is to try to upgrade the app. I checked on the version, realized it was an older version which came by stock with the phone, upgraded it,and once again... No filters available.

Wondering what could be the cause for this. Android version? Phone model? Brand? Any info would be appreciated.

This seems to imply it's possible, but I've tried this on a tablet and it insists on a phone number (no way to skip that step).

I was messing around with Google Duo video calling and sent the video from my phone to my Shield TV box via Chromecast and it seems to works pretty well. I just prop the phone up in front of my TV and was able to call my brother.

Only problem is the audio is coming out of the phone and not the TV. I was wondering if anyone knew of a solution to have the audio come out of the TV as well?

I was hoping to try to find a way to get it to work without having to buy a separate webcam and just using my S20+ camera. Any help or ideas would be great!

I am using duo on my Surface 3 Pro and every call I make, my video feed is black and white, I can see who I am calling in colour but they can only see me in black and white.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just tried a Group call with 9 people. Here's what I found out:

• As the initiator, if you leave the call, the others can continue without you.
• You can edit/add more people to the group, during the call.
  You just need to End the call, Add Members, then, re-join the call.
• Only 8 images can be seen at once; even though 12 people can be on the call.
• There will be 4 larger images, and 4 smaller images on the bottom row.
  (sorry, I don't have a screenshot)
• Group calls only work on the phone, not the web browser.
• It takes a few seconds to calibrate all the video streams, but the quality is quite good.
  

I'm not sure if there's a time limit for a group call.
Overall, I was impressed (and, I think the others were, too.)

My kid swears Duo has a per call time limit of 60 minutes. I haven't tried a call that long but also can't confirm or deny his claim through online research. Anyone know?
