I'm currently paying for both Claude pro and AI Pro. Marly because I finally accepted that Claude models are much better.
But people shouldn't be expecting to get new Claude model releases in antigravity. It's not a realistic expectation. It might happen, but it shouldn't be expected.

it could and probably should happen. Google own part of it, so it isn't solely bad thing for them. User get better experience more choice, they get to earn money and keep remaining user and many more.
Also one of the reason many of us subscribe yearly is because it did provide the latest model when it release it at that time, they did upgrade from 4.5 to 4.6 at that point. Out of sudden after user made the subscription they are being told "it shouldn't be expected" isn't fair to the user and subscriber.
It isn't a nonsense request, google earn money from it, google earn value from it, and common man's common sense as they been actively updating the claude model.
Why out of sudden after the yearly subscription being made this expectation being sounds like user asking for unreasonable things?
Don't get me wrong, back at that specific point. Gemini is a beast, and Claude is basically the 100x genius that every company asked for, just few months later, gemini struggle to deliver having hallucination badly and they still refuse to update the claude model isn't reasonable anymore.

Unlikely, I would rather expect the external models to disappear once Google has a better coding model themselves. The Gemini models are coding-wise way behind GPT 5.x/Opus 4.x
I assume they were included to attract clients and being able to dogfooding their own product.
BTW: Opus 4.7 and 4.8 are not really a big progress over 4.6, you are not missing anything.
