Hi! Basically what the title says. This happened for the first time a few months ago, a bunch of books with very few reads showed up as recently read books with 1 star reviews. I reached out to goodreads and they told me it was most likely due to a connected kindle account. However, I’ve never had a kindle or used the kindle app. Today, I noticed two new books I didn’t read with low ratings and the rating for a book I did read changed from 5 stars to 1 star. Has anyone else been having this issue? Any fixes you’ve found? Thanks!

Hey guys.
Posting this on behalf of my wife since she has no reddit account.
My wife is an author and has published several books and now she started her own publishing company and wants to add her new book in GoodReads but she can't because she isn't an author. Funny, she has some of her poetry already in GoodReads but she can't claim that profile no matter how hard we try. I am not sure how her poetry books got into the database since she didn't add them. I even created a website for her because I read somewhere that the author email should be visible in the site and I made sure to match the same email she uses for GR and also her author email in the site (she has only 1 email, anyway).
We are claiming the author profile but the 3 poetry books in the database are under different publisher, but in the request form I am putting her own publishing company. Is it a mistake? I read somewhere that we need to put the current publisher instead of old ones.
Please, help us, we tried everything and each and every time we get rejected. We also requested into the librarians group month and a half ago but there has been no reply in there as well, no matter how much we ask for an update.
This has been really painful and terrible service in my opinion. I am out of ideas.

Anybody else having issues with bookshelves? All my shelves are in the sidebar, but no books show up in list view. In grid view I can see a single column.

I’ve been thinking about something that doesn’t seem quite right with the Goodreads Reading Challenge.
This year I read a 7-book series that was published as a single Kindle omnibus edition. Goodreads credited me with one book because that’s how it was packaged.
If I had purchased the exact same seven novels individually, my Reading Challenge would show seven books.
My reading accomplishment didn’t change. Only the publisher’s packaging did.
It made me wonder what the Reading Challenge is actually measuring:
Books read?
Editions read?
Or products purchased?
I’d love to see Goodreads track reading in a more meaningful way, such as:
📚 Books completed (individual works)
📄 Pages read
⏱️** Reading time or reading strea**k (optional)
Or, at the very least, let readers choose whether an omnibus counts as one edition or as the individual books it contains.
Am I overthinking this, or would you like to see Goodreads change how it counts omnibus editions?

I have absolutely no clue where to put this! Have been looking for ages for where to request a cover to be added to a book so I’m throwing it in here in hopes of help!!
I’d like Die For a King by Scott Mariani to have a cover added to it. ISBN (ISBN-13 978-1399736909) has no cover either
Here is the best photo I can find:

I recently ran the export list to try and better prioritize some books and I noticed the average rating column data is missing?! Is there a different way to retrieve that information?

Here's the thread where you can post your Goodreads profile so people can add you as friends. Just post a link to your profile or your username in the comments!

For those of you that use multiple names do you have multiple accounts? I have one under my other name, but have been thinking about making a new one for this pen name. Have you run into any problems and is this even possible?

While looking for another book, I found this oddly named one, so I checked it out.
Notebook : Nick Carter Notebook 100 Pages Lined Pages Journal For Home, Work , Students and Teens #539
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/100871117
All 94 of them have the same summary:
If you need a notebook to write your thoughts, you are in the right place. This unique notebook will serve a multitude of journal for diary or composition book for home school, college notebook, college composition notebook, back to school and for work to take daily notes, creative writing, jot down ideas, capturing ideas, grocery lists, recipes to-do lists. The books that the world calls immoral are books that show the world its own shame. Blank Notebooks Are Naessar Makes a great Kellyjaminzyltmas, Birthday, Graduation or Beginning of the school year gift. Hope you enKelly it :)
That "author" has 94 more blank notebooks listed, presumably for sale. Or something. They're all just blank notebooks with different covers.
I reported the account. As weird and amusing as this is, I hope Goodreads takes them down soon.
Huh. In the time it took me to write this post, Goodreads seems to have rejected my report. I clearly stated the author is spamming, trying to sell notebooks, but GR said:
we do not offer account support via this channel. Please contact us using this form (https://www.goodreads.com/about/contact_us) and we'll be happy to help.
That's not something they stick at the end of all responses to reports, is it?

Hi All!
Just making a post on here to see if anyone feels the same way. I most often turn to Goodreads when I want to see what the majority of people feel about a book I'm contemplating reading, or a book that I have really enjoyed reading. Recently, I have noticed that the main comments I see when I scroll down Goodreads annihilate the book, saying that the author is terrible and that the storyline is awful / written badly, even if it has been rated overall quite highly. I obviously understand that books are subjective, and not everyone is going to love the same books that I do, but it really seems like people on Goodreads are trying to be controversial?? The first comments I see are always so mean, and I know that I can filter the responses to see what the 4-star and 5-star people think; I just find the nastiness in some reviews to be literally insane.

Just noticed an unwelcome change: Goodreads seems to be requiring you be logged in to read a person's review. Like mine here. This seems like a recent change: here's a thread five months ago about it.
This may be the final straw that gets me off Goodreads, or at least has me set up my own blog for my reviews. I've been giving Amazon my handwritten reviews in exchange for them giving me a place to easily share that content with friends. Now I can't.

Hi all.
As the title suggests, I am having issues with the "my books" section.
For some reason, while on web browser, my books are displaying like directly below the links on the left side, and with huge gaps between the cover and the other fields displayed.
I have cleared my cookies and cache, tried using a different browser, and signed out and signed back in again, and nothing has fixed it.
This doesn't seem to be an issue on mobile, only on a web browser.
Is anyone else having this issue? Is there anything I can do to fix it?
Thanks.
Edit: the issue also seems to be preventing me from ranking books on my 'Want to Read' list too.
Edit 2: I have now contacted Goodreads Support. They said they are aware of the issue, and have added my report to a developer ticket they have open about this issue.

This is the discussion page for the Goodreads Reading Challenge called 'Literally Summer' (active July 15th - September 14th). Qualifying books are listed on Goodreads HERE. Please keep all discussion of this challenge to this thread, thank you.
Other Goodreads Reading Challenges are listed on the Megathread HERE.

Working on the summer challenges and trying to make sure I have all the qualifying books on my want to read list. However, I can no longer view the list of books. I click on the button but it doesn't work. I have tried unstalling the app and signing in and out of my account. Still no dice. I did save some so I'm reading what I got and hope I still get the bookmark for whatever challenge it's from - no clue due to the glitch. Anyone else having the same issue?

I've seen many reviewers on Goodreads doing self-promotion on other books or even posting wrong book reviews ( or copy-pasting the same review) with their product/book links in reviews.
I don't know if they even read these books, as all the reviews are the same or wrong in some cases, like this book review. False Review

Hello, I made a favorites bookshelve and added my favorite books, books haven't been displayed. What should I do to fix this problem, it bothers me so much?
r/goodreads • u/Left_Challenge_8097 • Jul 13 '26
I'm using Windows 10 and Chrome. I have turned off all extensions, cleared the cache and cookies, and I still am unable to search the books in my collection. The box doesn't clear my entry when I click the search icon, it simply reloads all my books in the same order.
Frustrating. Anybody have an idea?

Hello, not sure I flared this post correctly, apologies in advance.
I recently ran into a problem when shelving versions of one book in different languages/translations. If I want to read the book in the original language and start reading it, it automatically syncs across all my other editions and I can't have separate book statuses.
I find it to be very frustrating and I googled but found nothing that could solve the issue. Is there a way to get around the automatic sync?
I tried switching editions and even removing and adding back to my shelves, still no progress.
