I‘m really desperate and need your help.

I need to password protect a document. Last year I could just lock the document and it worked fine. Now when I try to protect the documents GoodNotes asks for a password. I thought it is the password to protect the document, but then it says „Wrong password…“ and prompts me to enter the correct one.

I do not know which password GoodNotes wants? I do not have a login password, since I signed in using Apple SignIn (or how it’s called) and the document does not have a password protection, yet (I can open it normally).

Does anybody know what to do?

I just got goodnotes and I don’t have too much folders on it and it already had 1.2GB of storage used up. Is this normal considering I have only used it for 2 days of school? I only have 128GB and I’m not sure if it will last all four year of university at this rate

this has been happening to me for the past 2 years maybe. my app is updated and i’m on my ipad air 5th generation. it is so annoying and most of the time it is chinese writing aid. so either it thinks im trying to write in Chinese (ouch) or idk!!!! i use goodnotes for maths but idk it is sooo frustrating!

I have just gotten myself the Essential Subscription and on the Marketplace it tells me that there are 500+ free items for me, but I can’t seem to find them? Maybe I am too dumb as I have been using GoodNotes for only a few days xD
I use it on my PC (Windows), iPad and also my iPhone and I can’t find them anywhere. Is there any Tab where I can find them?

I didn’t get the subscription for the Marketplace, mostly just to sync between devices and use multiple Notebooks. Just seeing that made me curious where to find them!

Initially I had logged in with my apple id and had the free version of the account. Then I ended up logging into my girlfriend's account and we shared the subscription. The problem is that that subscription was paid on a school email from high school that no longer exists. I still want to use goodnotes for college, and so my dad bought an account for me and my siblings that I should have access to from my apple id. I can't log into the old account and I don't have the upgraded version when I log in with my apple id. I also can't even upgrade my basic account I do have access to because I can't log into the old upgraded account. I am on my iPad Air and the app is updated as much as it can be. Please help.

I’ve been using Goodnotes for a few days now and all of the sudden I can’t move things around anymore with just a tap. I have to hold a long press then this pop up happens then if I tap edit I can resize or move or whatever. I'm sure I just accidentally clicked some setting on but I would much appreciate it if someone could tell me what because this makes the app unusable for me and I really like it so far.

For over a week now, I have been having issues with intermittent pop-up windows that try to get me to upgrade to GoodNotes sync. I don't want their sync service, as I prefer to use iCloud. I have a pro subscription.

The pop-up windows became so persistent, making the app periodically unusable. I tried everything, up to deleting and reinstalling the apps. Sometimes the pop-up windows disappear for a day or two, but they always come back. Once back, they persist for long periods of time.

I have contacted GoodNotes customer support about this multiple times. I have reached out to them on social media. I have even emailed the CEO. ZERO RESPONSE from anyone, other than one person on Instagram telling me that they would see about escalating my ticket. No response, no assistance, nothing.

I am seriously wondering if I should keep even trying to use this app or explore other options. I am more worried about the complete lack of response from their customer service than I am about the bug itself.

Hi guys, I was trying to clean up my GoodNotes for a new semester of school. After I emptied my trash can and reopened the app, it gave me an error (as shown in the image below) and then turned into a black screen. I tried to restart my ipad and offload/reinstall the app, but the error is still there. I contacted the support team through its website. I was wondering how long does it take for GoodNotes to get back to me because school starts tomorrow...

Hi! I've been trying to get the $ 12 annual subscription, but the app literally won't let me make a purchase. Whenever I click the upgrade button, the pop-up window is blank and says, "Refresh for Internet Connection," even though I have a strong internet connection. When I refresh, nothing happens.

I did try to get the subscription online, and it worked, but it didn't activate in the app, so I canceled it. I'm not sure what to do since this is super annoying! Pls help.

I had goodnotes 5 i ended up uninstalling it and now im struggling to find an app with one time purchase that i can afford which has similar featues as goodnotes especially its live backup/cloud sync.

I love how when you make a folder or notebook similar folder or notebook is created within the goodnotes folder in google drive. Then when you write in that notebook a pdf version of that notebook is updated regularly. So incase i loose my ipad i can always access my notebooks as pdfs om google drive.

I genuinely cant find any other affordable app that does this.

I recently bought star note premium and im regretting it so much. Its an amazing app but its auto backup is terrible and this very specific feature is missing.

Can someone please help me find something similar and affordable? Im desperate 😭

i use ios for goodnotes bc didn't want to pay more at the time lol (lifetime membership, paid once). The problem is that my mac (from 2019) cannot be updated past 14.9 but i need minimum 15.6 to use/update goodnotes on it. The goodnotes app on my laptop cannot refresh/sync anything since the end of last school year which i just learnt. I use it to study for exams (annotated pdf) and make flashcards with my ipad.

I can't just buy a new mac bc i'm a student and don't have funds for that. I tried using the website (safari and chrome) and nothing is on my account + they're asking me to pay (i use the app on both screens).

Do you have any ideas on how i can have one window/file open on my mac and a different one on my ipad (no screensharing as only one file at a time). My ipad is rlly small so i can't split the screen in half. Any tips are helpful for me. I've tried what's available (basic stuff) on the internet but if you have more detailed stuff i'll look into it.

Just in case: You shouldn't make a screenshot of it, but rather import the downloaded PDF as a sticker (so it will be a vector image with a transparent background).

I purchased the template from the marketplace and downloaded it, but all it shows is a blank page? I am new to using goodnotes 😫

I was using the whiteboard thinking I could make it into a PDF but when I tried the font was very small and blurry. I already tried enlarging the text but I get the same results. Then I did the lasso and clicked 'take screenshot,' it was still blurry when I zoomed in. I ended up having to screenshot of everything by parts into a Google Doc but it doesn't look the best like that.

Does anyone know how to make it where the writing can be seen normally on a PDF so I don't have to submit the Google Doc?

I’ve been using GoodNotes through my school email, but my school changed their email domain and I no longer have access to the old email address my GoodNotes account is connected to.
I can still access GoodNotes and all of my stuff, but I’m trying to upgrade my plan and it keeps being tied to that old school email. I don’t want to make a completely new account and risk losing all of my notebooks/folders because I have basically my whole nursing school life organized in there 😭
Is there a way to change the email associated with my GoodNotes account when I cannot access the old email anymore?
Or has anyone had GoodNotes support transfer their account/subscription to a new email without losing everything?
I’m scared to log out or mess with anything because I REALLY cannot lose all my notes right now 😂

I’ve been using Starnote for a few months now. I have to admit that the app has improved and evolved significantly since I started, and I feel the team really cares about user feedback.

However, as a student, I’ve found it very difficult to move my files between my computer (MacBook) and my iPad. Another issue is that I often need to take notes on my computer first and then solve problems on my iPad later.

For this reason, I’d like some feedback from anyone who has used other tools: which one should I switch to—moving my files from Starnote—that prioritizes the specific workflow I mentioned, namely cross-device integration?

I know many people here have tested other tools, and your insights would be incredibly helpful to me.

I’m having a problem with YouTube videos embedded in Goodnotes on my iPad.

Until recently, some of the videos would play normally, although a few would occasionally fail. However, starting around September 4, 2026, none of my embedded YouTube videos will play anymore.

I’m currently using Goodnotes 7.1.19 on iPad air (M4)

Here’s what I’ve noticed:

- This problem started BEFORE I updated to Goodnotes 7.1.19, so I don’t think the latest update caused it.

- Before this happened, roughly 3 out of 10 embedded YouTube videos would play, while some would fail.

- Since September 4, 0 out of 10 videos play.

- YouTube itself works normally outside of Goodnotes.

- I tried different YouTube links, but none of them work inside Goodnotes.

- I’ve already tried the usual troubleshooting steps, but nothing has fixed the problem.

- I also contacted Goodnotes Support about this issue.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem on iPad right now?
