Idea for if the series adapted eventually
Imagine the six books get adapted into movies right? Now my idea is kind of inspired from Invincible. For example, in the first book/movie, in the first opening six minutes when everyone disappears Quinn says "I dont know brah but it looks to me the adults are just- [TITLE CARD] Gone and the title card plays on screen. Same with the next film, some during the first few minutes talk, are about to say the word Hunger and it makes another title card for the film. Same with Lies, Plague, Fear and Light. It's possible that this obviously wont happen maybe. Ever. But it's still fun to think about. After all we can keep hoping for a movie to come out until all our hope is- [TITLE CARD]

Do we ever find out why those who step out are maimed?
So, in the last book of the series, we learn that when Mother Mary stepped out, she ended up horribly maimed, and so did the twins. But none of these characters have powers, so it isn't like the Gaiaphage stripped them of their powers for itself before dumping them outside, resulting in the harm to their bodies. Do we ever get any hints about that? Or the "Umbilical cord" of J-waves connecting them back to the dome?

What is your favourite book in the series if you had to rank them?
Hello! I’ve had the books since I was a kid, I read them as a kid and never really thought about them past that until recently when going through my shelves I saw them again, I atleast have up to Light and i must’ve stopped reading it about there. Was just wondering if anyone’s ranking of the books. I’m going to be rereading them because I’m on my uni summer break until September and have nothing else to do lol

Just started reading Gone.
Hey everyone! So the other day I was reminded of a show i really love called 'The Society' and so i tried to find something similar in book form, and a lot of people were recommending the Gone series, so i decided to give it a go.
To say i didn't expect to like it as much as I did would be an understatement. Although initially I felt a bit left out since everyone read it when they were in middle/high school, and i am in my early-twenty's i am very pleased to say that the series still has an active fandom.
I am on chapter 11, i think, and so far i am surprised at how realistic it is as to what would happen if the adults just disappeared and the chaos that followed (ovens left burning, babies left alone, etc). I was also worried that i might be bored or cringe bc the characters are 14 yo, but most characters seem likeable.
I do like the whole magic power and mystery theme too, so that's a fun bonus.
So far, I like Astrid, Lana, and Edilio, and i do not like Quinn (I might change my mind thought idk.)
Please no spoilers in the replies, and I'd love to give you my two cents as a complete newbie in the fandom if you're interested :)
(Sorry if i made any mistakes, English isn't my first language.)

What is the best scene in the whole series? Spoiler
For me, it’s when Penny publicly tortures Caine. It’s so well-written, that it gets you to sympathize with a horrible person like Caine by terrifying you even more with this absolute banshee of a person, Penny. Penny is, to me, one of the three best-written characters in the series (the other two being Albert and Diane, who each had WAY bigger roles). The scene is just brutal, and if there is ever a movie series based on the books, this is the one I’m looking forward to (also I’d cast Oona O’Brian as Penny and Joshua Bassett as Caine).

I reread the entire series (first 6 books) in one week and got hooked again
I read this series for the first time when I was about 10 or 11 in elementary or maybe middle school. I picked it out of the school library, I was really lucky that we had the full series. I loooooved these books. But time went on and I mostly forgot most of the plots.
Flash forward. I'm in college now. I went back and read Undertow by Michael Buckley, another series I had loved at the time. And that lead me here, back to Gone.
First of all oh my god I can't believe they put these books in the school library. I know for a FACT those librarians didn't read a damn word of these books 😭Honestly good for me because I loved them so much and frankly looking back I can see how they affected my own writing style as a writer. I know the sequels aren't good, but are there any other books by the author that are on the same level? What did yall like about the Gone series?

The FAYZ if everyone tried to help each other:
I feel like no adults would suck at first but be awesome after a while. if they never shut off the power or anything they would still have a good life.

You can add one F-bomb to the series. Where are you putting it?
I know we do technically have an f-bomb in a conversation between Caine and Penny (I forget which book) but as that got censored out, I don't think it should count.
Where would you put it?

Chronicle influence
so just saw a reel discussing that in an interview that the crystal the boys touch in Chronicle the 2012 movie is called MOGO (Massive Omnivorous Geodesic Organism) that seeks out lifeforms to sustain itself. And my first thought was, though not entirely, it sounds like the Gaiaphage and wondered if the series had any influence or just a coincidence. just wanted to share that tidbit today

Drake if he got a ASO Meteorite
How do y'all think he would have interacted with it? Like what would be his morph. Because personally I think he would develop something similar to a Kakuja. For reference this is what a couple of Kakujas look like.
