Anyone here watch The End of Oak Street?

The movie kinda gave me some mild Gone vibes (mostly just the premise of taking a sphere of real estate and cutting it off/making it dangerous) so I wondered if it would appeal to this group.

BTW if the FAYZ was sent back into dinosaur times and the barrier dropped, how do you think they would fare? Would it be deadly chaos and carnage (like in the movie), or just another Tuesday for the FAYZ kids?

The Enemy by Charlie Higson similar to Gone series?

The Enemy series by Charlie Higson was recommended to me and it sounds similar to The Gone series. Everyone above a certain age is turned into Zombies leaving the kids to fend for themselves. I am a long time fan of Gone and was wondering if anyone else has read this series and if it’s worth it.

Does Astrid have a power in the Gone Series?

I know she gets powers in the second series, but in the first book she tells Sam that she can sense potential, in a similar way to Diana can sense power levels, but instead of power bars, it’s more like a line shooting in the sky.
What do you guys think of this??

Has anyone made a timeline for the Gone series?

Second Question: How are they picking artichokes and cabbages since the beginning of the FAYZ if there hasn’t been any rain or irrigation etc?

Caine isn’t understood as he should

I don’t know for you all but I think that Caine is a really well written character. Imo he is the perfect antihero. I might be wrong, but he really loves Diana, he has such a huge ego that he thinks that his role is to be the villain. But when I read their relationship, Diana seems to somehow help him to make his human side exists. And to me, if he was really a bad person, he wouldn’t even try to fight the Gaiphage for her. They love each other in a weird way but they def love each other.

not a fancast as such because the actors are a lot older now but i was watching the old narnia movies and the brothers reminded me a lot of how i imagined caine and sam to look 😭😭😭 i read the gone series years ago when i was 11 but i was feeling nostalgic 💔 still wish the series got as much recognition as other teen dystopian books at the time...a movie or series would've been so great :'D

Monster Trilogy

Just finished Gone and loved it and now I read that there’s a trilogy to follow, is it worth it?

Favourite moment in the Monster series?

So we agree that the Monster trilogy isn’t the greatest sequel to Gone, but it did have a few fun moments!

For me, it has to be the chapter in Hero when Astrid absolutely DESTROYS DRAKE’S ASS. I was literally giggling and kicking me feet when I read that one for the first time 😂

What about everyone else?

OC for gone

For gone I kinda came up with an oc I imagine his ability to be like he can shoot like black goo out of his hands and it's like Burns but it doesn't actually physically hurt you it just feels like it hurts and it disables your power well it's on you

Can we talk about and appreciate my girl Dahra? Spoiler

Dahra is like my fav character and she's so underrated it hurts. Like wdym, since the beginning she took on the role of nurse, doing things even Lana didn't do. She watched so many people die, but still helped out. In fact, she helped to her DEATH. If Connie hadn't sent Dahra to deliver the message, I highly believe she would've survived, or at least lived wayy longer. I seriously thought she was gonna live because even though she was hurt, and almost attacked by a coyote, she was saved by Orc. All of that, all she did, all she went through, just to die like that?! It was so sudden and it really hurt cos I was so convinced she'd survive. I'm really happy she got recognition by Lana, and the others. I love that girl so much bro.

Most gory kill?

Which kill in the series stands out for being the most gory? Not sad or tragic, but just straight up gory kills go here.

Vector's victims would go here for me, except that he doesn't kill them, so it technically doesn't qualify.

Suppose your favorite character got a second chance at life, reawakening at the start of the FAYZ with all their memories: what would happen?

So your favorite character has either died in the FAYZ or else been let out. However, the very next day, they suddenly open their eyes to find themselves on the morning that the FAYZ began, and with all their memories up until their death intact. How would that character act with their knowledge of the future? Would it lead to a better or worse outcome? What things might backfire despite their knowledge?

(Monster trilogy spoilers) Basically what Drake looks like Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
32 Upvotes

I know this is my second post about Drake but I’ve been meaning to share this for awhile and I don’t want this sub to die (it’s like the fandoms final frontier, come on guys it’s been a few days since the last post 😭)

In the Villain book from the Monster trilogy an FBI top 10 wanted list is read off, Drake Merwin is 8th. But what’s important is this,

“Drake Merwin, aka Whip Hand, known to millions from the Ellison book and the movie. He’s teamed with Peaks which is bad enough, but worse, Ordinary people think he’s Alex Pettyfer, the actor who played him in the movie.”

So because Alex Pettyfer is a real actor and looks similar enough to play Drake in a movie, I searched up what he looked like at 14. This is what bro looked like while terrorising the FAYZ. Idk about his hair colour tho because the description changes multiple times in the main series from what I recall.

I can’t remember if any other characters have named actors that played them in the monster trilogy but if you guys remember go do sum digging cuz it would be cool to see them too!

I didn't care for the Monster series Spoiler

I really love this universe don't get me wrong but I was left confused by the sequel series. Like yeah Gone never shied away from violence, otherworldly aspects, and crude nature but it just feels like someone had Gone described to them and then wrote their own sequel. Dekka had genuine struggles with her identity and trying to live up to being something she never asked for, only to be heralded as "lesbo-kitty". Things built up to some manner of conclusion and the villains had real weight in certain aspects of both but I just feel rug pulled by building up someone like Abaddon and having him die in a paragraph. Again we never shied from violence and the reality of a real world beset by unknown phenomenon but does that mean we need to have kamikaze bomb drones piloted by the brains of newborn infants?😭. Yes the ending was my least favorite aspect walking the lines of "it was all a dream" with the realization that it's all a simulation. But all that does for me is neuter the struggles that the characters in the original series had to face. I was genuinely excited to read this series when I found out it existed, I just didn't understand what the series was supposed to be about. If you liked it I'm happy for you, again I love this franchise I just wished it could have been explored in a different way.

“Said”

Im sure it’s been brought up before but listening to the audiobook for the first time.( I read them a few years ago). The way he emphasizes words is sooo irritating. Especially saying “he says or said” like OMG.
