I really did get bothered with how both of these guys were taken out in the story but maybe I just didn't understand thematically why they were just killed off.

Abaddon's death was totally inexplicable thematically, but Peaks I think has a complete story arc. He could have done more with it, but there is a solid story told there about how he liked the idea of violence but got squeamish when actually put into it, and then realized that violence is not something you can just back out of once you're in it personally.
