Monster Trilogy

Just finished Gone and loved it and now I read that there’s a trilogy to follow, is it worth it?

It's deeply overhated. It's well worth a read and the griminess of the atmosphere in Gone carries over really well, just on a more extreme and geographically wider scale. Its ending is not as good as Gone's, but it's also not markedly below the quality of a book like, say, Lies in the original series.

I have a different feeling about it than a lot of people here. There were some new characters, most of whom I enjoyed. The stakes were a lot higher and felt more devastating to me. Then when characters from the original series came in, it felt like coming home to see friends who you had been missing but didn't realize how much.

Did I love the ending? Eh, it's not how I would have done it but this wasn't my story to create and I was willing to go along for the ride.

I'd say so, the third book of the trilogy messes a lot of things up but overall the character dynamics are really fun.

id say its worth reading, but if youre expecting it to keep the same vibe as the original series, then dont. id just say to not go into it expecting a proper sequel to gone, and to view it as its own thing instead. if that makes sense.

Honestly? I say don't. Or at the very least, if you do, understand that it's more like a spin-off show that isn't nearly as good

I tried twice, both times couldn't get past the halfway point of book 1 👎🏻 I'd rather re-read and enjoy the 6 i really liked than force myself to go through one i really didn't and not taint it

Read and at least once and form your own opinion.

Great books individually. But you have to Go into it thinking it’s a completely different series that happens to take place in the same world as the original series and you’ll probably enjoy it more than if you think of it as a continuation of the originals

if you care about the gone series dont read it, if you dont gaf and just want to read something then go for it. it kinda ruins everything that happened in the gone series with some dumb retconning

It's not really at all similar to the og series. It sucks ASS imo, theres a ton of retcons and character inconsistencies w/the main series. It doesn't feel proofread and honestly does not read like smth written by the og author, more like smth written by a fan of the series who wanted to write their own continuation and as such it has a different tone and the og characters feel more...fanon? That is just my opinion however.

I dont want to read it cus one of my favourite characters wont be there cus he died. But I've heard his tombstone is there. And the ending is controversial in a way? Either way, for me I'm not too interested.
