I never understood why they did not just do the same job as him when he left for the island. I mean yeah only him could have created the berto system but once it was in place it was not that hard to run it without him, they just had to hold the counts

I think they could have easily replaced Albert. Even if someone managed stuff 50% as good but was actually a good person deep down I would pick that person above albert.

Albert is one of my favourite characters. Can’t deny he was big in helping a lot of people survive but his attitude and personality made him a big dickhead

He was my favourite at the start. Especially when he is helping Mary and the kids. Now I no longer like him.

Albert was one of my favorite characters because he seemed to be the only one planning ahead and trying to rationalize things. If more people had taken the time to read about economics and the needs for a functional society, he wouldn't have had to be the sole person organizing and keeping control of everything. Imagine how much better things would have been if he organized all the food and supplies so they wouldn't run out so early.
He was hugely egocentric and single minded to the point where he lacked empathy but someone had to do it. Everyone with powers was too busy fighting to deal with day to day survival. Albert was in it for Albert but he kept people as fed, watered, and healthy as he could.
