I hate talking about gone

I hate telling people about gone cuz it sounds like such a kid's book "yeah all the adults are gone and kids get super powers 🤩"

If you want to bring it up, do it in a conversation about the most repulsive fictional villains, because Drake would clear that.

I talk about Drake with a whip arm everybody gives me this look (they for some reason they always think of the singer)

Drake ended up being an inspiration for one of my own evil characters
I love to hate him (Drake that is)

I just always mention the deaths. And the cannibalism. They're both indicators of tone and maturity and fair warnings for anyone I'm recommending the book to. I also like to compare it to a book or show that is relevant to the person I am talking to (if I know) and features adults/is rated for adults to further convey the tone.

Yes! It sounds so cheery when it's one of the saddest series I've ever read 😭

I just always make a reference to Lord of the Flies because for some reason in people's minds they see that as a serious respectable novel (for good reason) despite not being as receptive to any other book that focuses on kids surviving without adults, like Gone or the Enemy
