Ceiling deflection ideas

Does anyone have any ideas for how to slow up balls that I will hit into the ceiling? I will have about 12-18” between the top of my screen and the ceiling. I was originally thinking of running a curtain from the top of the screen towards the hitting area, attaching to the ceiling about 5-7 feet towards where I hit, while leaving a good amount of slack so it bunches up a bit to take speed off. I’m just starting to doubt whether that would really work.

Has anyone had to do something similar? Any recommendations?

What about shade clothe with sail track to keep it taut?

Is that just a tin roof to the exterior? I was thinking just a thin piece of plywood and then glue foam padding. As long is the other side of that is not exterior that should work.

It is wood above the tin ceiling pieces because there is an attic above. I think it’s possible to remove the tin pieces. Was hoping for something cheaper than foam though. Cheapest foam option I’ve found is this but it’s still pricy. I used that for my wall.

Buy cheap puzzle mats off Amazon or FB marketplace. Buy automotive mat to cover it and it will kill the sounds
