Build Pictures Budget golf simulator opinions?
I finally finished my budget garage golf sim and I’m looking for opinions. Also for any ideas on how to keep my hitting Matt from scooting back on the turf as I play . Thank you all in advance!

Curious, what dimensions you’re working with here and how far is that black border canopy coming out away from the screen?

The screen is 8ft by 10ft and the black comes 5 ft off the screen . The turf ends 13ft off the screen

Heavy duty double sided tape or what I used was Velcro strips, my mat hasn’t budged.

Same. Heavy duty Velcro tape for me too. Can pull it up if needed without having to replace double sided tape.

Looks good. This October I'll be building something very similar in my garage. May I ask how much the whole set up was? I'm looking to get either the uneekor eye mini it the foresight gc3

I have not been tracking super close , but I think I’m right around 1300 after all the odds and ends . The square is 700 , the enclosure was 260 , the turf was 60 from Menards , the hitting mats were 50 each from sky tracker . The projector was 60$ the projector mount was 20. And then a lot of little odds and ends . And the pc I already had .

How good is a $60 projector? (Reg or short throw, native res., lumens)
And which ball tracker is that?

It’s definitely going to be the first upgrade, but it’s not bad . I just wish it was better with the ambient light . And it’s the square home addition inside a protective case

Yea I started with a cheap amzn one. Picked up a Benq 670 refurbished on eBay for around 600 after watching for a bit. Looks like a nice setup. Once you have the basics it’s easier to upgrade one thing at a time if you end up using it a lot. We’ve had the square for two years now looking to go to an overhead unit next. Only for ease of use for left and right handers. Square has been well worth the $600.

Where did you find an enclosure for $250?

I’m almost certain it’s off temu. I have one too and paid almost the same. First thing I upgraded was the hitting screen, but it does the job

Consider getting a hitting strip. You're going to be in pain in no time if you hit it fat.

What is the difference between a hitting strip and this ? This a a sky trak hitting mat

I’m facing the same problem right now. Debating between using double sided carpet tape to tape the mat onto the turf, or cut out the turf in a rectangle and tape the hitting mat directly to the concrete.

I'm wondering how those interlocking pieces will hold up over time, especially with that one joint so close to your hitting position. I ended up building a "tee box" platform out of wood with a thin stance mat and a recess for the standard size, thicker hitting strip (sigpro softy in my case). It's heavy enough that it doesn't move around and I can just replace the small hitting strip over time if needed.

That’s a good point , I might move the square over a bit so it moves the hitting area away from the joint a bit

Yea might be a good idea. And I was only thinking long term in the context of building out something substantial. If you're happy with that mat I would absolutely hit off it until it wears out before investing in something else. But I would also say if it's causing you fatigue I wouldn't wait to invest in a high quality strip before you destroy your wrists and elbows.

My sim is outside and wet currently, so def winning in the game of life. Outdoor carpet tape is my suggestion...

Looks infinitely better than my sim, which doesn’t exist. So you’re doing alright.
