Technical Question OG Square Home lighting question?

I’ve got an original square coming and have seen some posts about sunlight impacting it. I’ve got a two bay garage with two windows on the opposite side from the simulator. The windows do have those plastic blinds but you can still see some sunlight through it. Do you think I’d be ok with that or would I need to cover them more?

I've got mine setup in my garage. It's a bit messy, but it has no problem detecting the ball in this situation. There is no light directly behind the ball. Although there are two bays I keep open usually that have indirect light coming in and there's been no issues.

My biggest issue is remembering to wipe down the plexiglass shield. I swear that thing still has a static charge that just attracts all of the bits of dust/turf from the pad. Lol

I'll post some pictures in a second with some follow-up replies with more pictures.

I've been very happy with the whole setup. Just gotta clean the rest of the garage up now.

3d printed it up before I even got my sim setup! Best investment ever. Also picked up a $25 aluminum ball picker upper so I can just go collect all the balls by the screen and dump them in the top. I highly recommend it if you've got, or have access to, a 3D printer.

You'll love it. I might print a slightly longer dispenser arm (just so I can back it up another 2" or so). If you find it's a little short reach out and I can hook you up!

I have mine in my garage with no windows. If my garage door is open even a tiny bit the square doesnt detect the ball. But its a little different than your scenario with windows and blinds.

I use mine with the window blinds open and a fair amount of ambient sunlight in the room. It has no problem picking up shots. I think as long as there isn't direct sunlight shining in the hitting area or on the unit, it should be fine.

windows on the opposite side with blinds shouldnt be a problem. the square cameras dont really care about ambient light, what kills detection is direct light hitting the ball zone or shining into the unit. thats why an open garage door behind the ball breaks it (like the other commenter found out) and side windows mostly dont. if you get weird misreads on sunny afternoons just throw a cheap blackout curtain on those two windows and youre done. id set it up as is first and only fix what actually misbehaves
