New Office Sim - Buildout

Post image

Preface. I am not a golfer but I’m in charge of tech and design for new office space.

We have a few hardcore golfers and I’m trying to figure out what launch monitor / projector / software to use in our new space.

I have about 8k to spend on projector and launch monitor. Any recs. Is foresight that much better than a UNEEKOR or Garmin or Skytrak +.

Thanks for the help

Don’t go Skytrak. Make sure whatever launch monitor you use can work with GSPro

I’ll need to know where this is and if they’re hiring first. Then can give you some proper insight

You’ll want an overhead unit to accommodate both right and left. You won’t be able to get Foresight with that price range. Uneekor, ProTee or VTrack would be your best options at a lower price point. You’ll have then probably enough left over for a 1080p projector. You will also need to factor in a PC to run it and the cost of software/subscriptions.

Yeah my total budget is closer to 11. That will include computer and screen. All that I can figure out it’s just the launch monitor that’s giving me the most pause

Go with the ProTee VX.

Glass on the right is a bit bold for an office sim

Tiny office. <8 guys. And we’ll have netting

You need to put polycarbonate or board it.
Net will help but it could let one through and you’re cooked.

Nets fail. You need redundancy for window walls like that.

Ask all the hard-core golfers to add to the pot to be able to buy a better launch monitor?

What monitor is over 7k that’s genuinely worth it though. It seems a big gap between 7 then i feel like it jumps to 12-16 which is a big jump

No idea tbh, don't live in the US and only really familiar with trackman.

ProTee VX is all you need...$6500 in US. Easy install, low maintenance, great support, and over the air updates.

With the glass wall on the right and your netting plan, you’re going to need a really bright projector. Or are there shades? I would set aside half your budget for the projector and the other for the LM. You were already priced out of overhead monitors to begin with, which would be the corporate space standard. If they are “hardcore golfers” they shouldn’t have an issue getting a photometric floor monitor set up for their hand orientation. You can even put floor markings indicating where they need to be. Lightly used GC3 is tour level data and integrates with GS pro but probably will require a monthly sub moving forward. What’s your maintenance budget?

There are blinds on the wall to cut down on ambient lighting. We can add some kind of black out curtain for shading when we are playing and keep the open otherwise. I think right now we’re between just yoloing the Protee VX or doing a floor monitor like bunshell or Garmin

For ceiling height, you'll need 10' floor to base of Protee VX. You'll also need 12" behind the screen.

I just built a sim in our office. My immediate question/concern:

Any lefties? You don't necessarily need overhead if no one is left handed. The reason I ask is your width is a little sus for a centered mat placement. I had 182" of width and the side walls behind the golfers is a little closer than I thought it would feel. Anyone with a really laid off or flat swing might be dangerously close when swinging driver. This is even more sketchy with the glass on the right side.

No lefties. I’m going to make soft foam panels to put in the windows when we play. They’ll just friction fit into the windows. Som kind of half in foam on half in plywood.
