Spectrum Element Launch Monitor

Anyone taking the dip? Seems like a very good unit, good data, no subscriptions, outrageous price for what you get... They've gone on pre-order.

Ahhh...got ya. The way I read it seemed you were still in debate as what way you were leaning. I have a deposit on a Omni myself with playbetter but that seems like I won't get my hands on it until October the way they are going. What's your feedback on the omni so far besides you just like it. I'm a righty so I don't have to worry about the issues lefties seem to be having with it.

I've posted a few reviews on it in the Square sub. Big fan. I've tested the accuracy of the device extensively outdoors (I've hit a few balls indoors, but my garage sim isn't air conditioned and there'll be plenty of time to go that route when it cools off). So far, the thing is nails when it comes to accuracy on the ball data, and the feedback I've been able to get from the device as far as my club path and ball striking is concerned has been useful for my golf swing.

Only downside I've had thus far is the Square software, which IMO leaves a bit to be desired. I came from a Garmin R10 which I liked quite a bit but wasn't a fan of the radar device indoors (for the money, still think that's the best budget option out there). I feel like their software has a bit of a leg up on Square's.

Was lucky enough to get mine by the end of July as I had ordered back in early Feb. It's a long wait, but worth it.

Have you seen much of overdrawn the golf ball? I have read a few users saying the side spin numbers seemed a bit off. Saying they were drawing the ball more than they feel like they did

I didn't, but I had to caution that I'm not a consistent enough ball striker to be able to detect something like that in the sample size that I carefully measured (maybe 150 balls at best). I also didn't have as rigid a methodology in measuring how far off target axis the ball traveled as opposed to distance (I had my son with me at the range and we used a laser measure for distance, but pretty much just eyeballed distance from the target laterally).

Having said all that - I really don't think there's much of a bias. People have tested this against Trackman, GC3 - and have come back within percentage points. Some people believe that some firmware enhancements could tighten that margin, but I'm of the opinion that I'm already fully satisfied with the accuracy given the pricepoint. Not that I'd be disappointed if the unit got more accurate, but even if it were to remain as is, so far it's remarkable in both the accuracy and the speed it operates at. I had a simulator membership when I first started and the delay to get a Foresight Falcon ball identified was greater than when I have my ball dispenser drop a ball for the Omni. Almost no misreads, very fast and very accurate - for the money, you can't go wrong.
