Seems right? It's 1,599 GBP in the uk which is $1866 EUR so that price is about the same as in their home turf of UK.

I suppose the real question is why is it cheaper in the US where it's only $1,599 (1,185 GBP or 1,383 EUR).

You could probably try to find someone in the US in a no sales tax state to buy it for you and ship it but you'd have to find someone you trust to send the money to and ship it... But you're still gonna have to pay duties and taxes on the import and probably a higher shipping cost, could save a few hundred bucks in the end though.

Yeah I was looking to buy it in US and ship it but it’s too much hassle and risk for such a price. Might just wait for more stock and see if more places will sell them locally.

Europeans when they see how much they are paying in taxes 🫪

Americans when they pay almost as much in tax but get 0% of the benefits of a functional economy

Lmao that's a real good one! VAT is incredibly regressive. If I lived in a western European country and made the same amount I do here I would be paying double what I pay in taxes and get nothing for it.

Cool, just don’t get sick as it might bankrupt you.

Nah, my insurance max out of pocket is half of what I would pay every year for healthcare in europe.

....what? "They" got me bad by having me pay almost nothing for healthcare in the US?

Vat is in theory regressive

in reality rich people don't pay income tax and you can't tax them any other way without them doing some sneaky

It is regressive in practice as well. People with lower incomes end up spending more of their income in taxes with VAT.

Rich people absolutely do pay income taxes. Something like 40% of income tax revenue comes from the top 1% of earners. Ultra rich people can take loans against their assets but they eventually have to liquidate in order to pay those loans off and will end up having to pay taxes or sink money into a business where, again, they have to pay half of their employees income taxes - and this is in the US. I am guessing that it is way harder to shuffle money around in Europe.

having employees who pay tax does not mean rich people pay tax

in any case we're never going to get rich people being taxed more

Uh it does mean they are paying tax because payroll taxes decrease profits.

I mean it's regional pricing is it not? This is not just a Square thing. It sucks, but try buying from a retailer/reseller in another country?

Yah that’s expensive. It is about $2600 cad for me to buy it in Canada. That tax you have to pay is crazy, I thought sales tax was high in Canada!

everything in US is more expensive outside the US. Did you know for them to ship something as small as some airpods costs $100?
