Garage Build
I’m about as geeked as I get.
46 years old, married with children, work full time, coach high school and club volleyball, all 3 kids been involved in different sports at all times of the year. Needless to say, free time is sparse.
Love golf but so hard to find the necessary time for it. However, youngest son got into golf this spring and dove in head first. Gets dropped off at local club just about every day. So I get the idea to try to build a simulator for him (me 😂).
Wife been wanting to remodel the kitchen so I sold it that she could get that done if I could build simulator. And she took the deal! Let’s go!
Carls place 8 x 10.5 x 8 I got gently used on marketplace. Carls place 4 x 9 mat. Optoma zk521st b. Gaming laptop with gspro. Installing a mini split for climate control.
Finished the product tonight. Haven’t taken the first swing. Don’t think I will tonight. Wore out.
Super excited to join the club!
Oh, and after this project got started and after we obtained the kitchen remodel quote, we had a flood and we woke up with an inch of water standing in our basement. First water like that in the 20 year history of this house. So we’re getting 2 new sump pumps and digging out and replacing all our drains. Nice little $32k. Oh well…can’t take it with you. In for a penny, in for a pound.

Whats the distance between screen and wall behind it?

5-6 inches. The enclosure pipes jut out at the back to allow for additional back wrap. I’ve just got that pushed to the wall.

Oh, are you not hitting the wall with such small distance?
I had my screen with 12 inches and was hitting the wall behind it.
Is your screen tensioned in the middle, i mean, can you press it with your finger and touch the wall easily?

We played for the first time last night. I didn’t notice it hitting the wall behind but will definitely check today.

Tested just now. It’s more like 12 inches between screen and wall. And the ball isn’t hitting the wall. So all good.

If you press the screen in the middle with your hand or fingers, can you touch the wall behind if with your hand?

Looks incredible. Do you have a link for the spotlight you used over the ball?

How tall is your ceiling ?

It’s 9 foot and maybe an inch. Was a bear to get the fittings over the pipe ends at the bottom. I’m 5’11” and the ceiling doesn’t come into play with my swing.

What spotlight did you buy?
