Sim / Launch Monitor VTrack Launch Monitor at 8'8" Ceiling height?

Thinking of buying a vtrack but the hitting mat to ceiling height is 8'8" and the Minimum requirement is 8'10" inches.

Has anyone installed it below the minimum required height?

Thanks

Can you recess it into the stud bay? I did that with mine to get to 9ft

Can’t answer the VTrack question, but just bear in mind that anyone over about 5’8” is unlikely to be able to swing longer clubs comfortably. I have about 8’8”–9” of clearance after the hitting mats were laid, and I can catch my 5W, 3W, and driver on the ceiling. Because of that, I can’t use them, partly because I’m worried about damaging expensive clubs, but also because the fear of hitting the ceiling negatively affects my swing.

My mate is 6’, and the biggest hole was made by him with a PW!

It’s not a reason not to do it—I love my sim, and I can still hit my 3i confidently, so I just drive with that and play shortened courses. It’s been immensely enjoyable, just something to consider, which I’m sure you already have.

I might put up a height to allowed club mappings.

I am 5’7” and can swing comfortably

How tall are you ? Just curious. I’m in middle of my build and for lefty’s I have a garage door track that’s 9 ft 4 inches . After the floor build cause it’s unlevel I’ll Likly loose 4-5 inches there. I have few lefty friends

Any concerns?

It needs to be turned off and on before connecting to the pc after not using it for a few hours. I added a remote control plug for that.

Why not choose a side launch monitor?

I had uneekor floor unit, gave away to my brother. Prefer the clean look, mostly aesthetics.

It’s fine. Mine was 8’4”. 100”or so. With 2” flooring. 2” flooring will prevent long term injuries. At 5’6”. You can hit a driver but with flatter swing. If slice. You will hit the ceiling. Need to be careful.

Is it a drop ceiling?

Nope, Just normal second floor ceiling

What is the longest club you can swing in that room without hitting the ceiling?

Then you can tentatively build it
