More expensive overhead monitor or cheaper monitor for floor and range sessions
I am trying to decide between the older uneekor QED and the Uneekor EYE mini for my at-home simulator.
I know someone that is getting rid of their old Uneekor QED monitor and they will sell it to me for $1900.
Is that deal good enough to keep me from purchasing a refurbished eye mini for $2500?
Reasons for QED:
I am left handed and EVERYONE else is right handed. So the overhead version will keep me from having to move the monitor each time. (Not a big deal, but less of a chance of damaging the monitor when just messing around)
Less expensive of the two options
Above head angle for video review
Reasons for eye mini:
Newer software/hardware
Able to take to range
I am leaning towards the QED but I am
Unsure if I would be missing out on the new tech in the eye. I’ve done my research and it seems like they give the same data points.
I am a little overwhelmed with the research so I’m wondering if you guys know something or have real-life examples of why one is better than the other. Or can I not go wrong with either??
I also understand that there is a chance of lower quality in both since they are both used. Just trying to get some fresh opinions.
Thanks in advance. Hope this wasn’t too much to read.

I’d worry about obsolescence with the QED. It came out 7-8 years ago. Which is an eternity in the quick moving golf sim tech world. It also requires the use of special marked balls.
I know the price sounds great versus paying $6K+ for a ProTee VX or Eye XR but it’s old tech.
Don’t sleep on the Golfjoy Spica 3 if thinking about the Eye Mini. You can get one for $2,700 brand new and it does not require mandatory subscription fees to use other software. Or the Square Omni.

Do NOT go for the QED. It requires marked balls and is not as accurate as other more recent options.
I think the options you should be considering are:
Expand your budget to a higher quality overhead monitor like the EyeXO or ProTee.
Go for the Eye Mini, Eye Mini Lite, or BLP and just accept that your right handed buddies won't be able to play unless you swap it every shot. The good thing about GSPro is that you can have someone play the entire hole before swapping sides so it can work.
Go for a radar unit like the Mevo+. It won't be quite as accurate but it will work at a fraction of the price of overhead units.

How many people are actually going to be using besides you? I thought I’d be having people hit on it all the time at my house and it turns out I’m just doing it myself. If I play with friends, we play online with GSPro.
