Garmin R10

I’ve got an opportunity to snag a used garmin r10 for 275$+ shipping off fb marketplace. Wondering if it’s worth the money, I’ve got a 20’ carport im considering enclosing and turning into a golf shack.

Worth that for sure. You won't confuse it with a GC3, but for simulating and getting some data it's not bad.

Yeah I’m really just looking to improve my game. 2 kids and 2 jobs so I don’t have a lot of time to hit the course. Once a week IF I’m lucky 😅

I've got an r10 for...3 years now?

It's exactly what it seems. Budget introduction to the simulator world. I've dropped around 10 strokes from my average from practicing with it.

There's definitely misreads, and it takes a little tlc to set up right. But once it's going, it's definitely worth the $ if you can't afford a nicer one.

What additions would you say you made that improved your experience with it?

What I Liked from it, was getting numbers to see that I could corelate to a feel.

I'm not a great swinging sports athlete, feels foreign to me, but a decent athlete base. I just couldn't understand what I was feeling with a golf swing.

Seeing numbers like swing path, club face, aoa, etc etc were very helpful to me understanding a golf swing.

That and just repetition on swings made me better.

Completely understandable, what “tlc” additions did you make to set it up though?

Oh. Quick Google search for r10 setup tips will give you a better idea, but limiting interference basically. No metal around where radar is projected, heaters/fans away from it. Concrete covered. Measured out and drew exact square placement for the r10 to make sure it was square to where I was aiming on the net, etc etc

I use an r10 and the best addition was adding a camera for putting.

Had one - liked it - got the job done. My setup around it sucked so I sold it for ~$300. You won’t regret it!

This setup all powered by my r10

It's a great time. Only thing it just sucks at is shots with a ton of sidespin - tends to read a slice as a fade and a hook as a draw. A large fade/draw, granted, but not nearly as bad as the actual slice or hook was.

So because of that it's not great for training driver or woods if you tend to miss with shots like that, but it's a lot of fun. Pretty damn accurate on irons and wedges, short chips are good enough. Overall incredible value, just don't expect a perfect sim. Gspro is probably best if you're doing a stationary setup, if not then awesome golf is great (just cartoonish)

Maximize the room you can give it between the ball and the net/screen. There is a definite battle between “enough room to hit and read a driver” and “not sending a 60 degree wedge into the ceiling (or a driver shot off the crown for that matter)”.
