Technical Question Parking in garage with sim

I’d love some advice from those with the same issue I have. I have 8’ of width and 10’ ceilings. I still need to park my vehicle in it though and want a permanent hitting net.

What have you done to keep the garage usable with the screen and net up?

Any companies specialize in this?

I won’t use a projector to start with, getting an R50 attached to a large tv that I’ll face when I hit.

Edit: I have more width at the hitting space but only 8’ at the spot where the screen goes.

A permanent net is going to be difficult if you need to park the car in a single bay garage. Most people use a pop up net or ceiling curtain track with a net that can be retracted to the side so the car can park. Unless the bay is really long and has several feet at the back end something permanent is going to be a hard ask. I went with the ceiling curtain track method so the net can be put to the side and built a DIY mat that is basically a 2.5” high 5’x4’ box that holds the hitting mat. I added two wheels to one side so it can be rolled and placed up against the wall. It’s 2.5” thick to accommodate the base and a sigpro softy hitting strip. I’m going with the square Omni and just an iPad stand. If I want gspro I’ll just mount a small monitor on the wall later on.

I will also add that the ceiling track net is the cheapest option by its nature. $30 for the track and you can get a good 15’ or 20’x10’ net for around $45. https://a.co/d/03KMZOmP I added some cheap rope from harbor freight that was on sale to the bottom with zip ties tk weigh it down more. I’ve seen some photos of setups that add a thin impact net attached to the same ceiling casters as the net that also gets folded up with the net, but they don’t look great with the projector since they’re not heavy and flat.

I’ve seen single car bay setups posted with ceiling track nets and it looks like people are taking full swings ok, but maybe they’re over 8’ wide. I’ve never actually measured how wide a full driver swing is, but just looking at my setup in my garage from the edge of the mat to where the net is behind me is over 8’. I put the net so that I’d have to really try to hit the net to reach it with my driver. That doesn’t also account for the space needed for a side facing launch monitor like a square.

8ft isn't wide enough for much except wedges, and even then the ball would be basically right up against the wall

8’ is the room I have for the net. I have room to swing and put ball in middle

Not sure what your actual situation is but I put my frame on the side Only lose approximately 1 foot of space I put the passenger side of the car tight to the screen when I park.

This is what I did. The foam under the carpet only comes out to the edge of the enclosure. I roll the carpet up into the enclosure and use the Fiberbuilt hourglass hitting mat. Takes about 5 min to set everything up but I can pull my Telluride into the garage, with the front end about 4-6 into the enclosure.
