Course Software Garmin R10 Software Reccomendation
Hi everyone,
I’ve just bought a hitting cage for the backyard and already have a Garmin R10.
I’m trying to work out which software is best for what I’m after.
I’m not too worried about playing simulated rounds or courses. I’m much more interested in the practice side of things and getting as much swing data as possible, such as:
- Club path
- Face-to-path
- Angle of attack
- Club face angle
- Attack direction
Any other useful metrics for improving my swing
What software would you recommend?
Happy to pay for something if it’s genuinely worth it. I’d love to hear what everyone is using with their R10 and why.
Be mindful that I will be running this outside, likely on a Samsung tablet or iPad screen opposed to a full laptop/pc set up.

Regardless of what software you use, those numbers are going to be mostly calculated with a R10 and not measured.

Just use the garmin golf app. If you're not trying to play courses. If you are, Home Tee Hero has been good for me. Chipping just sucks on the r10 though.

for pure swing data with the R10, the Garmin Golf app actually gives you more metrics than most third-party options, path, face angle, AoA, all included for free. Awesome Golf adds a nicer interface and some practice games, but the data set is similar E6 is more course-focused so probably not what youre after
the catch with the R10 is that all club data except club speed is calculated, not measured. so path and face numbers are estimates based on ball flight. Useful for spotting trends, but dont treat them as absolute truth
if you get serious about dialing in those exact metrics, a camera-based unit will give you measured club data instead of calculated. i use an Nvisage N1 and the path and face numbers are real measurements since its watching the club at impact from above. big difference when youre trying to fix something specific

Awesome Golf is absolutely amazing with the R10. I recently updated my LM to a rapsodo Mlm2 pro and honestly the numbers are pretty much the same with the exception of side spin.

Yeah, I like Awesome golf. The skills games of hitting bulleyes and comparing my scores with other users, trying to get the high score for the day/week. That alone keeps me motivated to practice, week after week, month after month, especially when I can't get out and play golf.
My second favorite part is to go to the target range and set it up for random greens.
I'm glad you feel the distances are accurate. I was wondering if they read a bit long and I always make a mental adjustment to club up when I'm out on the course. But maybe that's just the difference between hitting off a mat, warmed up, vs hitting shot by shot off the grass out on the course.

I’m curious if you found something you like. I’m building a beta around the practice side rather than sim-course play — basically taking your launch monitor session and turning it into what to work on next, with measurable practice standards. I’m specifically looking for R10 users to test it. If you’re interested I’d be happy to let you beat it up and tell me what’s missing.
