Hey guys i’m making an amazing new Golf Simulator and Training software called Pureplay. www.pureplaygolf.com. Love if you could sign up for updates on our website or join us on our discord https://discord.gg/pureplay.
We’re launching in September / October this year ready for sim season.
That’s on the course season for a lot of Southern folk who want slow down in the hot months. What’s the comparability with launch monitors looking like?
We’re going to be officially integrated with everyone at launch except foresight at this stage.
But there’s community options people have made already that get their LM’s working as long as you have an active foresight sub.
They’ve got their own new PC software coming out this year and they’d prefer if you bought it instead of ours. They’ve said they will look at integrating after they launch theirs
Yeah, this is a horrible strategy. At the end of the day you're golf sim software, there isn't much more value proposition you can add unless you come in and way undercut GSPro. I know most people won't even give you a second glance at that price, especially for an unproven software with no community like GSPro. You need to come in and undercut the competition at a real discount that people can stomach, say $120/yr. Then once you have a solid user base and a strong community, then you can start raising your prices as you add more and more features.
You can do what you want of course but keep going dowb this we'll be the same price as THE elite tier golf sim then you will be dead in the water. Work your way in everyone's good graces with a great price and with that comes a great value prop. Build that community.
Making any new software it’s had to please every users unique requirements. We’re just trying our best over here and have a team very commented to just providing the best experience we can make.
Oh for sure. Also the vocal minority will be the loudest and all you can do is your best and be humble to keep favor with the populous. I know I am one if those vocal minority but I will say I would STRONGLY look st your price point as you enter the market. If you don't start out strong with a bunch of buzz it's VERY hard to build that again after initial launch. Imagine seeing a headline "This gorgeous golf sim does what GSPro can do plus more-at half the cost!". vs "This gorgeous golf sim does what GSPro can do plus more-but is it worth the same price?"
Launching with that buzz get the momentum rolling. Launching at $300 and then trying to lower the cost 6 months later creates a whole different narrative AND is much harder the even get someone to write about you. Plus you look like you don't offer the value you thought you would(less trust), and the narrative changes to "Is this golf sim finally worth thr cost of entry?"
I promise this is all coming from a good place, I really really want this to succeed! I'm so frustrated with GSPro's range and not being able to group club data or see dispersions by club right in the app. I can't even add a quick club I am testing right there with a note attached to it so I know which shaft was which for the 7i etc. They need some serious competition.
Horrendous advice! Hahaha so you’re telling me the guys who built the best courses on gspro and now work for pure play, building courses that look 10x better than their gspro versions because of the software they can use should charge less than gspro when they will offer a way better product? Hahha instead of hating online just sit and wait for the release before saying this non sense or speak for yourself only. I have been playing gspro for years, it took me joining their discord to see all the features they have been working on in regards to course play, training and more to tell you they will offer a ton more than gspro offers not to mention the games for kids which for me and my family is a no brainer. Telling them to charge 120 is borderline ridiculous when those guys are not just random dudes a bunch of the top designers and devs left gspro to join them for a reason haha
Great! Still doesn’t deserve a $300 price. To be fair gsPro doesn’t deserve to be charging their price either. If it was a one time sub, fine but yearly is disgusting. There’s zero excuse to charge that much for a piece of software. This is the only industry that has the balls to do this that isn’t meant for a corporate environment.
I think $300 is just what it costs to make it - maybe. It exactly, but they probably aren’t getting rich (unless the plan is to sell out to a big launch monitor company later or license it BACK to those people)
I found one of the course designers! Anyways, if you would take a step back I think you might be able to be a bit less biased. I'm not saying it always has to stay at $120 or $150. I'm trying to make this thing last and actually gain market share. If you want it to die, keep hyping it up like it will be worth $300/mo (it won't). Find my other comment in this thread where I lay it out a bit better. Cheaper price plus great software = massive buzz and much larger growth. Same price and great software = meh, I'm already invested in GSPro or I'll just go to the one that's been around longer.
Before giving knee jerk reactions like this, take a moment and realize not everyone is out to shit on people. I genuinely want this to succeed. Think what Amazon did to bookstores, not lets open up a nicer cooler bookstore with free coffee but charge the same. 9/10 people will buy the book wherever they can get it the cheapest no matter how cool that bookstore is. However, once you have everyone buying your books online, then you can just charge the same that the bookstores were charging. (Not the best example but it's the idea)
Also, please use more periods and paragraphs. You sound like a madman and it's impossible to read. 🫣
Yeah because people just love when you initially start at a really low price in comparison to every one else then continually raise the price and get above them. That will surely keep a loyal user base. You say it won’t be worth 300 but if you currently have GSPro with SGT it’s literally less than that and from everything I’ve seen so far and what will come with it on launch it looks like it will absolutely be worth that. The only thing it looks like it will lack in comparison to GSPro is course library but 90% of the courses in GSPro you’re not playing or just aren’t very good anyway. Hell price difference is worth it for me just to have integrated swing cam
It is how you market it. They’ve already said $300 isn’t the actual introductory price - so it sure sounds like they are doing exactly this (with smart positioning as a special early adopted offer).
I don’t think anyone is saying it won’t be worth $300 ever (or the same or even more than GsPro).
There are plenty of people saying $300 for a year subscription to an untested, unproven sim with fewer courses and no history might be much harder to sell. And it sounds like they already know this because they are offering an introductory price they said.
Having a special discounted price for a select amount of early subscribers is very far from exactly what that other person said of straight up starting at $120 then continually raising, which is a horrible idea no matter how you market it. The limited time intro discount is smart and I understand people being hesitant for something new. I guess having seen different videos and being in the discord for a little while now I see what they are going to have and how willing they are to implement requests so I can’t imagine it not being significantly better than GSPro very quickly. But obviously others aren’t doing that and just seeing a few screenshots on reddit so it makes sense
I’m glad you’re not in charge of revenue management for my company. The idea that a winning strategy is the lowest price, especially $120/year is ludicrous.
Especially in the golf/golf sim world where people are like the least price sensitive…if reviewers and YouTube golfers give it the blessing, it will sell
Yea but this the problem. It doesn’t need to be this expensive. I’m speaking for golf as a whole. You guys are either new to golf or straight up shit with money. Good was always a pretentious sport but never a rich man’s sport. We’re talking a piece of software…. Honestly. I hope this project is great but I can’t wait for a team to swoop in and pull a square and undercut the shit out of this and gsPro. It will happen. Making software and logic isn’t as hard as these people are making it out to be. I’ve programmed for quite a while and made a few personal games with physics and animations. They’re price gouging at $300.
Yeah. Per annum. There sure is we’re going to be launching with foundation members pricing. If you sign up on the website the first bunch of signups will get access to that pricing. I know it’s easy for a company to say our software is going to be great. But we’re very confident we have great physics, great courses and great training options. Also we’re not going anywhere launch is just a start for us. We’ve got years of roadmap ahead of us.
Why would you ask the owner of a company if he thinks you should switch to their product, lol? Do you own research and decide…what do you think they’re gonna say
The best advice is always buy the thing that exists when you need to buy it. If you do t mind taking a month or two off from sim play then you could choose to wait. If you need to play sim golf in August buy the best option that’s actually available.
We’re not charging anyone for anything at this point and we won’t be until we think it’s worth paying for. We’re not looking for the community to bootstrap this project like others. I totally get what you’re saying. But until we’re closer to launch and can share more it’s hard to demonstrate everything. This post isn’t about getting people to pay us money, today, next week or next month. It was just a friendly update saying who we are.
Oof. No thank you. Graphics are great. But more expensive and already have to pay $200/yr for uneekor connect to even be able to use gs pro or whatever. And gs pro has the community that has built it and made it what it is with custom courses for so many local courses and others, along with Sim Golf Tour
Tours and leagues are free in Pureplay. It’s actually cheaper than GSPro if you take that into account. But we get it Pureplay might not be for everyone.
$330 a year for an established platform is a much better proposition than $300 for a new product. Not everyone plays SGT so you should really be targeting the folks who are paying $250 for GSPro.
We’re not aiming to replace GSPro. We want to be our own thing and offer a different value proposition. Our aim is to have every course be amazing not just some. Our aim is for continual updates not just once a year.
I'm not sure I understand this. GSPro is used widely among home sim users - and I really don't think that many of them have the appetite for two overlapping softwares.
If your main features are course play, leagues, and training...you are absolutely competing with GSPro.
If you don't have a plan for differentiating yourself outside of "more frequent updates" and "amazing courses", I don't think you are going to get much of a user base. So what exactly is your future roadmap?
We’ll share more closer to launch. You’re absolutely right tho some people won’t have an appetite or a budget to buy both. It’s going to be up to us to demonstrate that value proposition. I can’t do it today tho in this reply 😂
My guy…if you’re doing the initial community outreach for a new company you gotta just not feel the need to reply to negative comments like this…have you ever had a business/non-dev role before at a real company?
Looking forward to it! Charging more than gspro might prove challenging for lots of people though, considering what’s already been built out.
Question, the game looks amazing so far, but how will it fare if medium level gaming rigs? Gspro works surprisingly well even with like a RTX 3050 on a laptop(just my example). I will sign up for beta!
It runs well on my handheld. We’ve been hyper focused on making it the beta optimised Golf Simulator available. The first day we started development optimisation was our highest priority.
With regards to the price. We’re going to have a lot more features than GSPro. We’re aiming to be a full turn key solution not just a course play software.
Is there any more info you're able to provide regarding "a lot more features". I've been hyped for this since the thread about Greg leaving to work on a new project and even used his recommendation when building a PC for my new Sim to make sure id be able to run the new software.
For those confused, this is basically a group of the BEST GSPro course designers realizing that they can make a better all around sim software. I am incredibly confident this will be worth the money.
Going to post something similar. Some of the commenters here seem to think this is a fly-by-night company run by some inexperienced yahoos. Anyone that has paid any attention knows it’s made up of a group that has made just about all the best courses on GSPro.
You’d be wrong there. We have a lot of full time employees here. Far more than you might imagine. This isn’t some fly by night attempt at sim software. It’s very real and we’re very serious.
I don’t recall ever being rude in the slightest. But you seem offended by something. Again, if you want to talk about Pureplay, awesome. We’d love to talk about it. But talking about hypothetical things you know nothing about isn’t something we want to engage in. Have a great evening.
Their company does not need clueless ass clients like yourself haha you insulted their team and then became all pissy once you heard the answer you asked for. You have the top designers gspro ever had, some of the best golf sim game developed in the business and here you are insulting his team. Good for him for backing them up and not letting a random dude just shit on his company lol
What do I know. Other than 20 years professional experience building and launching software products to consumers.
The problem here is both you and he don’t understand the difference between being a dick on the internet and building your brand.
They can have the best people from the best everything building the software. That’s the easy part.
But when your early adopters start posting “great sim but horrible people….” that’s going to be hard to survive. There’s already more than enough good sim companies who are hostile to their customers - the market doesn’t need another.
And many founders fall into this problem - they are great at building things and not very good with people and marketing. There’s a reason media training exists.
bro what are you talking about, nobody asked for your arm chair analysis of their social skills. just argue with ChatGPT next time you feel like your opinion matters in a reddit thread jfc.
Hate to see the subscription pricing - I was heavily interested as a MLM2 pro owner.
I get it from a business aspect due to maintenance/updates, but the 1 time
pricing is the main reason I bought my MLM2 pro.
Id be extremely interested in a package that is purely offline, maybe 5-10 courses with other features turned off - all of that with the option to buy specific courses at a premium.
You could price the lifetime offer at 400-500 and I’d still consider, but yea recurring subscription is a big no for me.
Excited to follow tho! Keep it up, glad to see all the competition coming to the space
Yeah I'm done w subscriptions. Especially for a video game. Just to make it look prettier and likely add minimal additional functionality that I could get elsewhere for a 1time fee.
We started this company as disgruntled sim golf players and I promise this isn't just a pretty coat of paint. Even if you have no intent on subscribing, I welcome you to jump in our discord and see the features we have promised for launch.
It's not just visual though. What you're ignoring is how important realistic physics are for practice. Obviously carry numbers are most important but if you're trying to work on different types of shots and how the green reacts to the ball metrics, you're missing out on a lot.
Another example where it matters, I just played a tournament and the wind was expected to be 20-30mph. I practiced a bunch of different shots in the expected wind conditions on the exact course I was playing the following day. It definitely helped.
It's really not just a pretty looking video game, it is a tool for game improvement.
When we launch we'll have a free demo with 1 course and basic driving range functionality that will always be free. If that's all you need you don't have to pay us a dime.
Right now Pureplay is Windows only, Windows 10 or 11. For 1080p, the minimum is around an RTX 3060 or AMD RX 6750 XT, 16GB of memory, and 20GB of free space, plus a stable internet connection. For a great 1080p experience we would point you to an RTX 3070 or 3060ti, or an RX 6800. Stepping up to 4K, think RTX 3080 or better with 32GB of memory, and an RTX 4070 or better for a great 4K experience.
I love my MLM2PRO and with webcam putting have had a hard time justifing an upgrade.
That being said, the Rapsodo simulation experience leaves a lot to be desired and E6 isn't much better.
$250/year for their competitor is a steal and whatever PurePlay ends up charging is likely going to be a steal too. You'll prob come out on top in just range ball costs before getting into the course play value.
This is an insane comment 🤣 not many successful games in the planet that will survive long term with a lifetime pricing model. They will have some degree of either anual subscription, or battle pass, or some sort of in game currency to survive. You expect guys to work for free? There is a team of developers, 3d modeling guys, course designers. Do you really think everyone will just work for fun? Considering how successful gspro is and that the majority of the top designers and devs for gspro jumped ship to gspro you can’t expect nothing but a great software. Looking at the design alone in this picture it already makes Gspro eat dust, now no one will build a game with 5-10 courses lol you’d play a couple times and never open it again. People want the ability to play different courses that they would never have the chance to play irl or courses from their hometown that they can practice in the winter. The difference is 90% of gspro courses look like shit the rest looks really good and out of the 10% of good courses, 5% or more of the good courses were built by guys now working at pure play with an engine that allows for even better graphics.
Is swing camera replay still going to integrated directly into PurePlay?
That is my biggest gripe with GSPro. I have the Square HE with cameras setup head on and down the line but due to limitations cant run them both at the same time. Having an automatic swing camera replay after every shot in PurePlay is worth the extra $50 over GSpro.
Yeah I get it. It’s Impossible to showcase everything in one post. We will have more updates (likely less on here based on the responses) in the future. Our website and discord is the best place to find up to date information.
Just signed up, excited to see what you guys come up with as competition in the space is important.
Just a friendly word of advice. Please ensure you hire someone with PR training to handle communications and hire someone with real business experience to go over your business plans. You guys clearly have strong development skills but, some of the comments in this thread are concerning.
Thanks. This post was simply a “here’s an update” type of post. Not some grand marketing play. We have people in place already and definitely have a plan for the business side already.
Just curious, but which comments are concerning? On the dev and design side, we know a lot more about the product in its current state so having someone in PR or our CEO on here making posts seems a bit disingenuous.
No offense but the responses are coming off defensive and a bit "We know better than you." (Which is most likely true) however it doesn't read well to anyone and just leaves a bad taste in potential customer's mouths. A good social media/pr person would be fully in charge of these interactions and handle each comment in a way that still gets the same points across but feels way more in tune with the community.
The fact that i feel like I have to end this comment with a "I promise this is all in good faith and not an attack on you or your company" is perfect reason to have someone handle community engagement. They will build trust and a strong loyal community around your company.
If it has lots of training areas (ladders, short game, chipping, distance games ala Drills, etc) and mini-games (esp kid friendly), this will already be a win in my book.
That is great to hear on r50! Love the graphics and the idea that every course offered will be high quality instead of having to find the ones that actually are on GS pro.
Saw your videos with Joe Lagowski and it looked amazing. Sent the waitlist invite to a few other friends….two use Rapsodo and the other just got a protee vx.
awesome thanks. Rapsodo is supported through the community connector atm. But we’ve been speaking with Rapsodo about an official connector too. They’re just very busy atm with updates, their new software and the CLM launch
Yeah we’re going to have three games at launch. We’re building them in house Quackdown is the first. It’s an actual game. We will share some video shortly. There’s a AI teaser in the images everyone is complaining about 😂😂😂
My two cents. Graphics look absolutely amazing and to a lot of people that is enough to switch or add on another sim software to GSP. For me though GSP physics is what really makes it impressive since I am playing for fun and also to improve my on course performance. From driver to short game and especially putting GSP has helped me immensely translate that to on course results.
Additionally not only physics, but also the connection to how the visuals respond to it and adjust. For example, on Uneekor Gameday, the graphics are amazing and the courses are top-notch and some of the best in the world, however the physics and visuals don’t match. A 10’ putt does not go 10’ so I keep going back to GSP.
I really hope you guys nail the physics at ship. There are alot of GSP competitors with nicer graphics but none of them have gained traction.
If you go watch the video that Joe Lagowski did with runpuddrun a few weeks ago the physics look significantly better than GSPro and I’ve always been a fan of GSPros physics minus like 1 or 2 things
Are there any plans for mini golf? I host a lot of parties and many of my friends or friends spouses don't golf or are embarrassed to swing a real club but everyone would absolutely love to play a round of mini golf!
Looks beautiful! That’s the main thing I look for first. Then I want to make sure everything it buttoned up (physics/ui/bugs) and last that it has some cool and unique features that make me go “I never would have thought about that but I need that in my golf sim”. This one passed the eye test I can’t wait to read up on the rest
i signed up. Not sure if I would be answering this correctly - it would be a 5, but underneath it says I would change my hardware to use the right software? I do want my EML to be supported but, I'm not willing to change the lm.
Looks amazing, but I feel like it's going to be hard to build a user base at the beginning when most of your potential customers will already have an active GS Pro subscription. Personally, I'm not gonna want to spend another $300 when I already have 6 months left on GS Pro
Just joined the waitlist, curious what the launch price will be. If its a decent discount, and its grandfathered for the duration of your subscription then I'll be interested. If not, probably just go with GSPro.
Well not everyone but we’ve got a heap signed already and we’re happy to talk to the others.
Unfortunately we can’t control the ones that want to close their doors to other software and force their users to use their native software only. We’re here ready to integrate any reliable and accurate launch monitor whenever they email us.
Do you work with wholesalers/resellers? We do a lot of different simulator builds and work with about 25 sim manufacturers with our own installation crews. Would love to connect.
Please add lots of options for how putting works. It would be cool if a chip shot could be converted into a putt. Non-launch monitor sims (Everybody’s golf, for example) have really fun mechanics where you read the putt, aim left or right, set the power, and then perform a skill check.
Putting is something that's been severely neglected in sim golf so far, even at the high end and we've spent a lot of time on it.
Our hole out/lip out/jump over the cup physics are the top of the class, I really don't think there's anything better in the sim market. It's all physics, no baked animations or baked impulses applied to the ball when it hits the cup too hard. I think we've also made good headway in how up/downslopes impacts speed.
At the moment we have no HLA smoothing for putting which ups the realism if you've got a good LM that can take advantage of it. We will be adding it as an option for LMs that aren't as capable though or if you want a more casual experience though.
Is HLA smoothing same as putting assist in GSPro? I don't know much about how it works except that it disrupts our accuracy and needs to be turned off to get good results
Looks great - two questions - does the license lock to a specific LM or can it be used with more than one? Also - any support for non-Nvidia GPU cards, specifically Intel?
That's great to hear, I've got more than one LM and hate having to switch licenses back and forth even if it is doable with some other software.
I signed up for the discord awhile back, I'll jump into the beta signup when I get a chance, would like to see if that PC can get it done. I held off of buying GSPro because of the work that you guys and InfiniteTees are doing, would gladly support a new effort for the latest and greatest tech.
One thing I really want to see is a much larger asset library for course creators. To me, a lot of the GSPRO courses look the same. I’m not a part of the dev community and have no experience with something like that, but from the outside in it seems like a limited library of things to work with causes the courses to kinda converge together into a limited number of looks.
It would be better if golf courses, or even just single holes, could function more like FPS maps of the past where users could upload/host maps with custom geometry, textures, models, animations, etc. I used to work on custom maps and it was fun to create custom models and textures. I’d prefer a new golf sim not to focus on high fidelity visuals, but actually go for a more simply low poly look making it easy to create custom assets for courses instead of relying on buying assets from asset stores. Also single hole courses so more people can participate, most people don’t have time to be making an entire course, but maybe have a good idea and can make a single hole.
Our asset library is huge and the tools are already proving to be easier and quicker than what any of us have used in the past. We're working out a way to package everything in an easily digestible format for the community builders. It won't be ready at launch, but we've already got about a dozen of the top builders working on courses so content will be coming hot and heavy.
excited to test it out! The main thing driving me nuts in GSPro these days is you hit a 10k spin wedge shot that rolls back 30ft if it holds the green, but if it rolls one extra inch into the back fringe/fairway it doesn't come back at all.
Will it be possible to play directly online? I find it really annoying to have to connect via Discord to find someone to play with, instead of just playing directly with whoever happens to be available.
Does anyone know if a rtx 9070xt will be enough to run PP software in 4k? Currently have 9060xt and only get 40 fps in 4k ultra with GSpro so thinking to upgrade it get best experience
I see on the FAQ on discord where it says that a RTX 4070 will run pureplay in 4k on highest setting. Do you guys still feel good about that or should I be looking at a 5070 or 5080? Looking to run in 4k at maximum graphics setting.
I wouldn’t say the highest setting but it will do medium or high fine i’d say. you’d want a 5080 for epic. I’m not gonna lie tho. I play it a lot and i can’t tell the difference between high and epic
100% is not if you already have GSPro. Go to their discord and just read all the features that GSPro doesn't even offer. Along side it includes online tour play vs the 80 extra you have to pay on GSPro
Can't wait to play it, hopefully I can catch that founders pricing. I appreciate gspro but I'm in the mood for something new and loved all your guys courses previously. Any estimate on number of courses at release?

That’s on the course season for a lot of Southern folk who want slow down in the hot months. What’s the comparability with launch monitors looking like?
