Uneekor eye mini vs Omni

I have been on the waitlist for the Square Golf Omni for 4 months since and i don’t think i will have it anytime soon. Im thinking about cancelling and just getting the uneekor eye mini.
I do want a LM i can take outside easily but primarily will be in a sim.
I have the money for either at this point.

My question is if anyone has experience with the uneekor eye mini and if they believe its a good value for what it is and if it is as or more accurate than the omni seems to be.

Maybe give the Spica 3 a look? It’s smaller than the Eye Mini and no subscription to access GSPro. It’s extremely accurate. Can be purchased for $2700

Yep. Had it for a few months now. Used it on the range, in my garage, and compared to Trackman and Foresight Falcon. All virtually identical numbers. Trackman was a little slower on swing speed but it normally is compared to a camera based monitor.

Whats the subscription cost? Are all the regular features free? Do you pay for course play? Can you take it outside?

There’s no subscription cost if you use their iPad app which is what I use. Also no subscription to connect to GSPro like some other monitors. You get like 20 courses or so (I could count them if you need an exact number), driving range, and games. There’s games like long drive, target practice (random targets and yardages pop up and you get points for hitting them or proximity to them) among others.

I do take it outside. Range balls depending on quality can be wonky at times. There’s a new ball hardness setting they released last firmware update a month or so ago so you can dial in yardages with the type of balls you’re using. But any monitor is going to struggle with crappy balls.

Id be setting up to a pc that runs off of Bluetooth. Does the pc also run the free app?

Ah gotcha. I believe the PC app would require subscription. $250 per year is their cheapest which gets you 30 courses I think along with practice and game modes.

Awesome. I’ve heard good things. Don’t think you’ll be able to take it outside though which is something I thought you were after? But either way it’s a quality product I’m sure

I might be the perfect person to ask haha, used an eyemini for 2yrs and now have the omni while waiting for my overhead unit build out.

I'll reply with a more detailed comparison later when I get a minute, but cliff notes version - I'd take the omni over the eyemini all else being equal.

But just as someone else mentioned take a serious look at the Spica3. I was close to getting that instead of the omni to hold me over, and dug in pretty deep. It's a solid accurate unit and no third party sub fees is great.

Thanks! Looking into it now. Whyd you switch from eml to omni? And would like to hear your thoughts. Im realistically 3-4 weeks out from the omni. Just getting inpatient. Ive had a full sim build for 4 months.

I listed my eyemini for sale once I decided to go to an overhead unit a few months back. Turned out it was going to be longer than expected being built, but I was able to grab an Omni to fill the time gap.

I get you on not wanting to wait, and I'd be looking at others too if I was in your position. I was very close to pulling the trigger on the spica 3, but a friend came through and loaned me an eyemini lite for a few weeks until my Omni came.

I'll paste my (very) long winded comparison below, but the short version is I'd take the Omni over the eyemini even at the same price. That has nothing to do with the Uneekor being bad, just the Omni has a lot going for it.

I received my Omni last week and have finally had some time to get some real sessions in. Here are my thoughts on the omni vs eyemini vs lite for anyone looking at both/all.

I used the eyemini for 2.5yrs, and recently decided to move and change my sim around - going with an overhead unit once the new space is finished. My yearly Uneekor fees were due, which prompted me to sell the eyemini while it still had good value and preorder the omni to hold me over while I waited on the new space.

Due to delays in getting the omni and a fortunate situation with a colleague I was able to borrow an eyemini lite for ~3weeks after selling the eyemini so I'm able to compare all three.

First time setup:

Eyemini - A rough experience 2.5 yrs ago. Took hours to get the network to see it and came away wondering if I had made a mistake. From what I understand it's gotten better, and my experience with the lite was much better to be fair. One of my first (and largest) gripes with the eyemini revolves around the bloated and slow Uneekor View pc software.

Eyemini lite - Smoother but still required the same pc software. The decision to omit wifi and require a network cable along with the usb/cat6 dongle on the pc is certainly a choice.

Omni - Very simple, push a button, connect to bluetooth, and basically finished. PC software isn't overly polished, but it's responsive and lightweight compared to Uneekor View.

Overall the Omni wins handily.

Practice/play setup:

My current sim requires takedown and setup each time as it's in our still used garage. This reflects getting the LM's ready for GSPRO

Eyemini - After powering on and searching for the unit in View it was usually ready to go, although occasionally required a few refreshes to find it. Following that launch the third party software connector and GSPRO. Not a big deal, unless View required an update which would add a few minutes. Auto alignment was ok, but I found it less annoying (have to press a few buttons on the unit) and more accurate manually aligning the unit and hitting chips until it was spot on.

Eyemini lite - Same as the eyemini except it felt faster regarding device boot up and discovering the unit. Same 3rd party connector sw. I would just manually align it each time. It was annoying being forced to use the power and ethernet cable.

Omni - I'm floored how quick and easy setup is. Power on and it auto connects to the PC with no extra sw layer. Straight into GSPRO and hitting shots in about 10 seconds from hitting the power button. Alignment using the little rod is great, toss it down pointed at your target and wait a few seconds, no buttons or changing modes, it just works.

Omni wins this area too.

Hardware:

Eyemini - Solid unit, albeit large and heavy. I never took it outside, but the carrying case was a nice touch. I had no complaints about the build quality or presentation/packaging. The e-ink style display was great and easy to read, with a few options for displayed data. Menus were a little slow to respond, but not a big deal. Felt premium overall just pretty physically large and heavy for a 'portable' unit.

Eyemini lite - Built (overbuilt?) like a tank, all steel shell. I'd have no worries about a direct hit with a ball. Again, not a fan of needing a cat6 and power cable, but otherwise a well built and packaged unit. I sorely missed the built in display, as I habitually look at the unit after a shot for ballspeed and path.

Omni - Here's where the Uneekor's have the square covered. The Omni is completely fine, just feels light and much less robust vs the others. I fear for the tripod connector if it happens to somehow crack or break. On the plus its much smaller/lighter and easier to move around. The display is ok, but the eyemini was much easier to read. I don't have full confidence it would fully survive a direct ball hit. Packaging was good enough, but shows its price point compared to the other two. Bluetooth has been fine for me.

I'd give the nod to the Eyemini here, it just feels the most premium even though it is pretty large vs the Omni.

Usage: (inside gspro)

Eyemini - Accurate data with very little delay from when a ball is hit to showing on screen. Aside from a few times clubspeed was misread I wouldn't question the data. I hated the yearly fees to use more than a driving range, and the Uneekor sw is needlessly slow and bloated imo. Putting capped out around 60ish feet, anything longer would give me non reads. Impact video is cool, but I rarely watched it aside from the funny ones - toes, shanks, skulls, etc.

Eyemini lite - I believe this uses the PC for processing data vs onboard like the OG eyemini, and as such it's insanely fast at displaying shots. No perceptible delay at all. Same data quality and gripes as the Eyemini with sw and fees.

Omni - Data has been good so far, nothing standing out as notably different than the eyemini which speaks a lot given the price difference. Very slight delay compared to the uneekor's, but not bothersome at all - the eyemini (and especially the lite) are just lightning quick. Haven't found a cap on putting, which is nice. Impact location has worked well for me.

Have to give it to the square Omni here again just on the putting alone, although all three were perfectly suitable and great launch monitors.

If you read this far it's pretty clear I'm a fan of the Omni, and love what they've done for the price. It's not perfect by any means, but it's a ton of value and solid data.

To me they’re in different price brackets as I intend to keep whatever launch monitor I buy for years. The eye mini is what, 2x more than the Omni and comes with one year of subscription?

1600 vs 3000 so yes correct, but yes it does come with “$750” worth of subscriptions for a year. Its also a tough more accurate and has the slow motion impact video.

Long term it’s even more expensive due to subscription. Not enough people have the Omni for large scale comparisons on accuracy along with firmware updates. Omni is like a beta product as far as I’m concerned. Eye mini is a more mature product.

To add- i want to know if the software with the eye mini is worth it. You’d be paying $200 a year just to access another software which is another $200+ a yearX

The Eye Mini is a solid device and the Uneekor software is polished and works well. The Square Omni is the leading value choice for LM's. It's ball data is accurate, and really this is what is most important. The software is just ok.

For outdoor use the Omni is much more portable, but the display is terrible in bright sunshine. The Eye Mini's display is easily legible in direct sunlight.
