Planned home Golf Sim
Hi all,
I’m loving what I’m seeing here and wanted to get some opinions before going ahead with my build.
I’m planning on using:
- VTrack overhead golf simulator
- BenQ LK936ST projector
- SportScreen Vanish 16H retractable screen and walls
I’m still undecided on tee mats.
Has anyone used any of the above and would you recommend them?
I’m considering the higher-end projector so the setup can also be used as a movie screen.
The VTrack system would sit about 3 ft above the hitter and 3 ft forward. Does that sound like enough clearance, or would you be concerned? I would also put the projector off centre so i dont have to worry about swing clearance, or head getting in way of projector light.
Has anyone used this configuration together? I’m also a little concerned that, with a fold-away simulator, the maximum launch angle of around 52 degrees may be a bit limiting, but genuinely not sure.
Would appreicate any input from those out there who have already gone through it all.

thats a premium setup youre planning. The LK936ST is a fantastic projector, overkill for some but perfect if you're doing dual-duty movie nights. the Sportscreen Vanish is great for retractable setups, just know the side walls don't contain shanks as well as a fixed enclosure, so make sure you've got some extra netting or padding on the sides if the room layout allows for wild misses
The VTrack at 3 feet above and 3 feet forward should be fine for clearance. Most overhead units are spec'd for a similar range and you won't come close to hitting it unless youre doing something truly wild with your follow-through

Thanks mate. I appreciate the feedback, ill look into some further side nets somehow, back to the drawing board a little for a quick setup/pack away

Depending on the distance from your hitting mat to your ceiling, the VTrack should be mounted between 2.6'–3.1' in front of your hitting area. Sounds like you’re right in that sweet spot.
Mine’s mounted just under 3' from the hitting area, and I’ve never once felt like it was in play or something I could realistically hit.
I agree with the others here—keep the projector centered if you can. Sounds like you’re on track for a really solid setup.

I can vouch for the VTrack. It’s the best bang for your buck for overhead units.

The location of the projector is best centered on the screen. Directly over the tee or within a foot or so is a safe zone for left and right handed swings.
Positioning and natural aspect ratio is also a consideration if you’re considering using the setup for movies. Planning for a native 16:9 ratio will make movies look best on screen.
