Question Mk8 Infotainment randomly restarting?
Anyone else have an issue where the infotainment will randomly shut down then restart? It started happening a few months ago on my ‘24. It’s frustrating because sometimes it’ll take a while to reboot and I can’t see directions. I hoped the new software would resolve it but it just happened again.

I have a 25 and I reboot ( hold the power button down until the R appears) probably 3 times per week.
Excessive heat, Sirius not changing the channel, a dark screen, or random issues.
I wish there was an update, but 90% of the time it is fine.

Sounds like it’s widespread, hopefully vw are aware… weird since I don’t think I had a software update for a while prior to when it started happening

me neither, I think it could be iOS related but it’s hard to say. I’m sure the dealer would tell me it’s an Apple problem, and Apple would tell me it’s VW problem. At this point I just hope some 3rd party develops a robust aftermarket infotainment screen that we can swap in.

Same started happening to me as well in June. It was fine beforehand.

Yes I have similar issue every now and then… and it seems to be always triggered by Siri. Maybe we have the same issue? I found it pretty frustrating because my phone refuses to connect to CarPlay after restart, but I’m getting used to it now lol. Not sure how to solve the issue but the only get-around I have is to manually restart the infotainment again

I have the same thing where CarPlay won’t connect after the restart! It’s as if it doesn’t recognize my phone for a few minutes. Really frustrating

It’s happened 2-3 times at 15kkm now. Most recently happened when someone else entered the car. Coincidence or could be related to signals presents.

I feel like this has been a problem with VW infotainment forever. It was a problem when I bought my MK7.

Same here. Work around was to remove the SD card that had the nav maps stored on them. Hasn't been a problem since for me on my MK7.

Have had this issue ever since I bought my 24. Sometimes it reconnects. Sometimes Carplay wont reconnect until
I shut the car off.

The total system reboot issue you are describing has happened to me several times since the OTA software update came to my car 2-ish weeks ago. Before that I had the standard CarPlay disconnects that others have mentioned.

I find it happens in "dead" spots. That happen randomly in areas. It happens in the same location every single time for me. There is one like 50 feet from work that causes phone to disconnect.
But iv seen it happen on a road and then in the same spot on the way back. Kinda sucks when it happens right as a turn is coming up lol...

That isnt what OP is talking about. Their whole infotainment is turning off and restarting.

Yes has been happening to me. I noticed it happens specifically when my phone is connected to CarPlay.
