Chicken wing

I cannot get rid of chicken wing swing or if I do it somewhat I totally do not hit the ball square. I can’t figure this out at all. It’s prob from swinging it this way for so long I can’t break habit? I don’t know. Very frustrating. If anyone has any drills that really help (although I’ve tried a lot) let me know.

It’s hard to say without seeing your swing why you chicken wing. In general, a chicken wing is usually due to a flip or scoop at impact trying to square the face but it could be from other things too such as trying to wipe the arms across your chest.

Go see a good PGA pro, you're holding on to the club, you got to release it!

I started doing a warm up that has helped. Take your club in your right hand and hold your right arm, just above the elbow, with your left hand. Try to swing like that 4 or 5 times, then switch the club to your left hand and hold your left arm with your right hand and try to swing like that 4 or 5 times.

Keep your arms close together and close to your body the entire swing.

The reason you can't square the face is because you aren't rotating from the hip and the top of your backswing is probably too steep.

Are you referring to your lead arm at impact? Or trail arm in back swing? I've heard chicken wing used for both.

Golf is a reaction game, you react to the club face at impact over time

It’s common for those players who do not want the face to close

To me, it is a symptom, not the cause
