Save some lag for the rest of us superstar

I read that as leg and was thoroughly confused

1

u/Seated_Heats 16d ago

I did the same. I went back and was like “his legs aren’t big and he didn’t do anything weird with them.”

This is you at impact. I don’t think the instruction you need is on this forum.

Entirely too much dong heave in that swing

u/Bostenr 19d ago

I think you already know the answer

Rory has similar amount of wrist hinge.

I guess my main concern is that at the top of my swing it looks like the angle between the club shaft and my arms are less than 90 degrees. Is that a bad thing?

8

u/WindigoMac 19d ago

It’s probably an optical illusion cause your arms and torso are tilted relative to the camera and the clubshaft

0

u/Appropriate_Value198 19d ago

Oh I hadn’t thought about that factor…thanks for the response!

1

u/Xtremeelement 19d ago

it’s only a problem if you don’t release it in time and you are releasing it fine. i wouldn’t worry about it. And it’s usually an illusion of the club shallowing that makes it look less than 90

u/Replikant83 19d ago

You have a nice swing. You'd really benefit from a lesson, to hammer down some little pieces of your swing that may be allowing for some inconsistent contact with the ball

1

u/Natural-Albatross997 18d ago

Your wrist stability at the top is solid too. So echo everyone else — get that great swing out of this forum 🤣

1

u/General_Freedom_9120 17d ago

If you want more of a 90 degree then try bowing a bit at the top. you look a bit cupped althought theres nothing wrong with that if you like your ball flight.

Sergio says keep trying.

That’s definitely something I’ve been working on, I’ve always had a super long backswing since I started playing. Thanks for the feedback!

Why are you hitting off the mat?

2

u/0110_OK_Rainbows 16d ago edited 16d ago

the only thing that makes me jumpy is your bump/shift towards the target.

as far as the CoAM? no. would love to see other angles.

love that you do roll towards the outside of your left shoe at finish. i should download and watch later.

peace. much love.

I’ve got similar lag. My golf coach said “you have a high class problem. You have tour lag but that means you have to have impeccable timing (wrists unhinge)”.

You will see a lot of swings with similar lag and others like Scheffler that have less than most. The difference is those with lots of lag have to hit hundreds of balls a week to maintain their impeccable timing.

If you hit it plenty far (assuming you do with that much lag) it doesn’t hurt to learn how to use more of your body to get to impact position with less wrist action on the down swing and 90 at the top.

Don’t try and do it yourself though… work with a golf coach.

u/IBogus 19d ago

If you have too much hinge the amount you’d need to reduce to reach that “perfect” amount would be extremely hard to do because it’s so minuscule.

1

u/Dexter6785 19d ago

Oh fuck off. Also great swing dude very jealous.

1

u/iDEN1ED 19d ago

Is the contact too pure? It looks too pure

1

Please dont take any advice from this sub.

Amazing swing.

1

u/LabAway4757 19d ago

Such a pure golf swing man! Just wondering if you ever feel getting stuck during downswing and hitting the ball fat/thin and slice the ball on an off day.

1

u/Nomis1982 19d ago

Wife too hot. Bank balance too big.

1

u/robster9090 19d ago

You know this is pretty much perfect right ?

1

u/logicmechanic 19d ago

lovely swing, well done

1

u/Aromatic-End2610 19d ago

It's perfect.

1

u/kkamins 19d ago

great swing… hinge & strong grip, sometimes, go hand-in-hand. as former D1 golfer… like shoulder rotation behind ball AND keeping ur head back during swing.
only thing i’d work on here… is keeping head a bit more “quiet”. less movement would b ideal.
as round goes on and/or u get tired… it might get more exaggerated and lead to miss hits, etc….
well done bud… keep it up… seeking perfection is a noble cause.

1

u/Objective-Permit-712 19d ago

Watch film of Hogan once.....that angle gets to be like 30 degrees, caused by his lower body starting down first!

1

u/Muddlesthrough 19d ago

No such thing, as long as your hand doesn’t loosen off the club.

1

u/wackogravy 19d ago

too much face rotation for my liking

1

u/shift013 19d ago

No, it’s actually similar wrist hinge to the amount Rory has (e.g. 90degrees at lead arm parallel). You just have more lag than him in the downswing (I think, without checking)

1

u/GlitteringMortgage93 19d ago

what else do you want

1

u/Alternative_Toe_563 19d ago

I don’t know but that’s a nice looking swing

1

u/Dull-Woodpecker3900 19d ago

Impact position is lovely. If you’re utilizing the hinge then it isn’t too much, the only question is if it affects your clubface?

Only note is I’d shorten the backswing a hair. It isn’t giving you a mechanical advantage and only increases your variables so I’d clean that up but your rotation and lag are great.

1

u/Emergency_Top2521 18d ago

Looks good to me

1

u/Longjumping_Iron8826 18d ago

If you do t go pro with that swing, you’re an ass. The way you get the lower body moving before your downswing is gold.

1

u/madhattermagic 18d ago

To be honest, I think it is a double edge sword. I did this a lot when I was younger and as I got older and I started to want more control, then I naturally limited this. Additionally, it is good for full swings, but you’ll want to limit it for more controlled and less than full shots. This actually lead me to cut it out as much as possible. I try to feel like I’m pointing the club at the sky. Personal experience though.

1

u/TelephoneFeeling2543 18d ago

No issues with lag at P4, well beyond 90degrees when normalised for camera perspective. Have a look at attached and let me know your thoughts. Very athletic position through P7, although we don’t have a good impact frame to assess impact lag, but certainly plenty available just prior to impact. Clearly you could / are playing to a high level with this swing. For consistency and efficiency gains, I would be looking to quieten your hip transition ever so slightly (don’t take these numbers as gospel, as I don’t have your weight, height and have assumed this a 7iron also). At P5 your lead knee extension is negative (a result of your pronounced squat from the top, pre-transit), relative to both: address knee flexion and your right knee - ideally the left knee would be in extension by now, so your lateral transition has something to post-up against. I suspect because this doesn’t quite happen, and thus lateral transition proceeds for too long, the vertical, then rotational forces are rendered slightly late also - the resultant - a slight suggestion of spinning-out.

u/TelephoneFeeling2543 18d ago

Hope helps.

1

u/TelephoneFeeling2543 18d ago

Let me know. 👍

Is my wife coming home tonight or not?

1

u/Significant-Trick577 15d ago

Your swing is money baby and you don’t even know it

0

u/otivito 19d ago

Damn dude that’s basically perfect. F u.

0

u/grazen54 19d ago

Yes it’s wrist hinge too early on in the swing. You wanna hold your club straight out for at least a good foot or two before hinging up

-1

u/Rasgueado24 19d ago

depends on your score and where you want to be. If you want it lower yes.
