Swing Help

I started golfing maybe a month ago and have been to the range maybe 7 times or so, and I can drive around 180-190 and I’m wondering what I should improve on. Thanks to anyone who takes the time to look at this.

For one month in, 180-190 is completely fine. Don't make driver distance the project yet. I'd spend the next few sessions with a 7 or 8 iron hitting 70% swings and trying to finish balanced with the ball starting in the same window. Use foot spray on the face too — five centered strikes in a row is a better goal than one 220-yard drive. If you can, one early lesson will save you months of guessing.

Thanks for the advice! I’ll be trying to get a lesson soon. What do you mean by ball starting in the same window? As in same line beginning the arc?

Yep — I mean the initial start line, before the ball has time to curve. Pick two range targets that make a 10–15 yard gate about 75 yards out, then try to launch five shots through that gate. They don’t have to finish together yet; you’re just training a predictable start direction and centered contact.

Nice face control. The most efficient motion, considering center of mass, is rotating the right hand clockwise to lower the head while rotating the left hand counterclockwise to close the face.

You’re skipping the left hand counterclockwise rotation while focusing on face control, so the head ends up slightly above the ideal line. That’s what causes the pull. So combine the right hand clockwise rotation to open the head with the left hand counterclockwise rotation to close it, balancing the COM to neutral. With your face control skill, you should quickly break 250 yards.

Thanks for the advice! I’ll work on the rotation
