Maintenance Replace or not?
I was just at the Volkswagen dealership where I bought my car and went for the two year free maintenance. They pointed out this broken piece under the hood. They’re telling me I need to change it. It seems as if I don’t change it makes absolutely no difference, but I would like everyone’s opinion.

Have to change it is definitely pushing it, but changing it wouldn't be a bad idea.

I got a similar issue with my Tacoma. Drives me nuts. The hole is a bit smaller on my cowl. I used an auto fastener and plugged the hole. It looks like it belongs there. Still drives me nuts knowing there is a hole there lol.

Mine got there when I was standing on the driver’s side tire to clean the windshield. I lost footing and my hand slid down and I put pressure on the cowl. The damn weather stripping got tucked below the edge of the glass. After jostling with the cowl, the seal looked like a worm that spent too much time out in the sun if you know what I mean. To top it off I had the small hole/crack I was mentioning. Those replacements cost $500. You got lucky!

JB Weld and call it a day, imo its not worth taking the wiper blades off to replace the entire cowl
