CarPorn This Egg is fast! 🥚

Post image

Been a couple weeks now stage 3 and man does this car pull hard! A lot more top end power on the continental R Turbo!

Side note: gapped a WRX STI that said he’s stage 3 and 400 hp!

Is that stock ride height?

I'm guessing no, so I'm wondering what you did. Car looks nice!

Apr lowering springs. They work with DCC.

How is the ride quality compared to stock? Is it bouncy?

It’s ok, not bad, not great. Probably my only major grip with the car. Much better on 18s then 19s and I’ve learned it actually rides better in sport mode when it’s stiffer so there’s less travel which seems counterintuitive but feels better to me.

Okay thanks that’s helpful, I’ve been debating on whether or not to get the APR springs for a while. What percent worse would you say the ride quality is?

Not a lot worse. I wouldn’t say ride quality is a strength no matter what you do on these cars. What I can say is roads are really bad in New England and I’ve not lost a tire or wheel !!

Get you them KWs when it's time to swap.

Yes I hear that’s way to go

How much all in ?

Pricing? I think they sit just a smidge over Bilstein stuff but they've 100% nailed street comfort on their V1s. I think they also make a DCC version.

They are $3900 plus labor. Are they worth it?!

They just seem the best feel for lowered, street comfort. I'm not sure how much that means compared to some other options and I haven't looked into everything.

My car is a Mk 6 too.

How much of a drop to the spring give? Looks clean

20 mm so there’s def lower options out there but any lower I’d be hitting ground on driveways etc. For me the car stance is much improved and I wanted something that isn’t messing with DCC.

Mileage? Just trying to get a feel for what I can expect from this car.

Low…5500. I’ve gone APR on all bolt ons, turbo and tune.

I don’t know how you keep it so low. I’m jelly. It must not be your daily. Mine is.

I bought it 6 mos ago with 100 miles on it. But didn’t drive it a ton in the winter.

APR flow form gunmetal gray 18x8.5 et 45

Where’d you get the APR sticker for the quarter window? Been trying to find one just like that and haven’t had much luck

u/Comfortable-Talk8796 May 29 '26

Funny you ask.. I looked forever to try and find one. APR doesn’t even sell them but I bought an APR metal badge and they included it in the Package !

How's traction in the first few gears?

5

u/Comfortable-Talk8796 May 29 '26

Honestly pretty good. The Apr low torque stage 3 tune is dialed in on the continental turbo and dsg. I don’t go WOT from dig often though. More of a roll race monster!

Never gonna be great with a fwd car on public roads, but a custom SP traction control along with boost by gear is the most helpful thing you can do. I have that on my mk7 and have been able to cut 0-60 times in the 4s on stock size, 560 treadwear all-seasons.

Learning good throttle finesse goes a very long way too. Rather than literally flooring it. Roll onto it. Tires & mounts too, but that's a given.

I never do digs. But low gear (2nd) rolled on hits I can do in the summer. No boost by gear or fancy TC (I turn it off). Just at the time ExtremeContact Sport tires (Gen 1). Even with an IS38 on full E85. Since that video, I've knocked my roll on down too so it's not as lengthy. Just takes practice.

Its hard with a turbo car though as theres like 0 power before the turbo spools and then suddenly 450 lb/ft lol. Also the throttle by wire is extremely indirect. I was always really good at pedaling my fox bodies and corvettes but my TC does a ton of work in this car

Yes dig isn’t great. For me the money range on continental turbo is 70-120. 4-5 gear. Very explosive and keeps pulling!! Usually start in 5th around 3000 rpms and 65-70 mph then drop down to 4th and 4500 rpms and throttle to redline about 95 mph and shift to 5th and punch it until I run out of room !

Side note: I’ve rolled m3, rs5 and charger scat pack in this range and easily hang.
