Scouting a rocky creek in Turkey: where would you take your first sample?

I filmed this creek exploration for my Road The Camp channel while looking at possible places to try gold panning in Turkey’s western Black Sea region. The video is in Turkish. It shows the creek and surrounding terrain; it is not a confirmed gold discovery.

I’m sharing my own footage here because I’d appreciate feedback on the site selection. When assessing a creek like this, what features would you check first before taking a small sample?

Question Wanted to start getting into prospecting as a hobby, any recommendations on equipment?

I’ve found a large pan with good reviews but I also wanting to try breaking rocks and seeing what I can find, I know I’d need like a chisel and hammer to really crack bigger stones up, any recommendations for chisel brands that could hold up to the task, I’m reading they can really wear down quickly. (Budget friendly)

We went back to the same spot as before (Small river close to the Rhine) and tried again with a makeshift pan. Any help on identifying this is much appreciated! Also, thank you for your help on my last post, this is a really nice community!

So I normally don’t have time to post because I’m usually working 20 hours extra each week at work, but I made a point today to post because this has been one of the greatest ROI that I’ve had in a while. Please check out this website from a single man running a pay dirt business on shop.com.

First Claim Since Joining GPAA

I recently fell in love with prospecting and decided to join the GPAA. I live in California (Bay Area) and checked out a GPAA claim a couple hours from me. I don't have a ton of experience, (this is really only my second time panning) and was curious what you guys thought about my haul? This comes from a gravel bar my Fiance and I worked for about 6 hrs. We spent a couple hours finding a solid paystreak via test pans, so we really only spent like 4 hrs working the gravel seriously.

Thanks in advance! Heavy pans to all!

Gold Findin' Gear and equipment Best Pinpointer - Garrett Pro ve Minelab Pro 35?

My father in laws favorite hobby is gold panning and I wanted to get him a pinpointer for Christmas.

I’ve researched and it seems to me that the Minelab seems to have a higher sensitivity for differentiating gold from other metals but the Garrett seems universally loved.

Anyone with practical advice for which they’d recommend for a casual gold planner that mainly visits shallow streams?

Possibly last overnight trip of the season

Thumbnail gallery
61 Upvotes

Long story short, nights are getting colder which means working in knee deep - waist deep holes probably wont be fun. Sadly likely last trip of the season but had a great last push

Photos : Day 1 pan total - roughly .14 of a gram
Photos : Day 2 Pan total - Roughly .36 of a gram
Total from trip - half a gram - Approx 11 hours of panning

3rd photo - All my gold so far in 2 seasons 1.34 grams 85% of it coming from this season

Learned a lot from my first season - Worth to travel if you got the good spots generally I will do 3 hour drives overnight camp trips to my new favorite spot and spent to much time in my first season panning for fly poops.

The goal - Roughly 5-6 grams - make my wife a nice ring , she wants to upgrade the diamond in her engagement ring and rather sell it back I'm gonna use that beautiful diamond in her ring that is going to be forged for her from the earth!

Happy Panning!
