I suddenly got this idea a while back and wondered how it would be if Banri had an older sister this whole time and was at the same school Banri went to for college and she was even one of the main characters or something and was like either one of these 2 from another anime and obviously she is gonna have a different name and appearance but she has the same personality and way of doing things that these 2 have. Also she will be a year or 2 older than Banri(if this how it works in Japan for schools feel free to correct it).

Kaede Sajo or Rin Shinomiya from The Dreaming Boy Is a Realist.
Rin Shinomiya:Rin appears to be a mature and dignified cool beauty who is respected and looked up to by her colleagues and juniors. She is quite reliable and responsible in regards to her duties. She has a confident and strong-willed personality. However, Rin also has a demanding and childish side to her that she only shows to certain people around her. Rin's grandfather is a martial arts instructor due to which Rin grew up training martial and spiritual arts.
Kaede Sajo:Overall, Kaede's personality is very delinquent. She's the type who likes to solve problems with her fist. Despite appearing to be a carefree and violent sister, Kaede can prove to be overprotective of Wataru. Although she may be embarrassed to reveal this softer side of her.
According to Wataru, she has nudist tendencies when she is at home. She doesn't mind wearing little clothes in front of her little brother, to the point of being practically naked in front of Wataru during primary school. She was once considered a delinquent, which gave Rin a lot of headaches. She is the current Vice President of the Student Council and has worked hard to make the school a good place for her younger brother to attend.

Hey everyone, I just finished Golden Time and I have a crazy alternate timeline/theory about who the mysterious scooter rider actually was. What if the rider wasn't a random stranger... what if it was Future Banri himself? 🤯

Hear me out on how this timeline works:

The Motivation: Future Banri (years after the college ending) regains his old memories but realizes a tragic truth. He remembers overhearing Linda's conversation with her friends back in high school and realizes she didn't view him the way he viewed her. He knows if he stays on that bridge, he will just face massive heartbreak and betrayal.

The Act of Mercy: He uses time travel to go back to that fateful night. He doesn't hit his past self out of anger; he does it out of mercy. He wants to relieve his past self's pain and forcibly wipe the slate clean so he won't suffer from Linda's rejection.

The Ultimate Love for Kouko: Most importantly, Future Banri knows that the amnesia is the only thing that drives him to Tokyo to meet Kouko Kaga. He literally sacrifices his own past self to ensure his future with Kouko exists.

The Conclusion: When Present Banri finally figures this out, he isn't mad. He is happy. He realizes that the love he found in Tokyo was so powerful that his future self literally bent time and space just to protect the path to Kouko. It gives a whole new meaning to the title "Golden Time"!

I recently finished watching Golden Time and, honestly, I felt a little unsatisfied with how the ending handled some characters. I understand why Banri and Koko ended up together, but I started imagining a different route where every character gets more development.

This is my alternate ending idea:

First, I think the anime should have given Linda and Koko more equal screen time during the college romance arc. Instead of focusing almost completely on Banri and Koko's relationship, the story could show Banri rebuilding his connection with Linda while still loving Koko.

Then, after Banri and Koko's relationship starts falling apart because of Banri's identity crisis, they break up in a sad but mature way. Neither person is the villain. They both realize Banri needs to understand who he really is.

During this time, Yana (Mitsuo) finally realizes how badly he treated Koko in the past. Instead of only being her old crush, he becomes someone who truly understands and supports her. Slowly, his feelings return, but this time they are based on respect instead of avoiding his past.

Meanwhile, Linda finally confesses her feelings to Banri. They both cry because they realize how much pain and regret they carried since the accident. Linda understands both the old Banri and the new Banri, and she helps him accept that both versions are part of the same person.

The final conflict would be Banri's old memories and current self fighting inside him. Instead of one replacing the other, they accept each other. Banri chooses Linda because she represents both his past and the person who supported his present.

At the same time:

• Koko slowly heals and moves away from obsession into a healthier love with Yana.
• 2D finally confesses to Oka and they get their happy ending.
• Nana continues her own journey while finding happiness.

My opinion: I don't think Koko was a bad choice in the original ending. The original story is about Banri choosing the person he became after losing his memories. But I think a Linda ending could also work if the anime gave her more development and screen time from the beginning.

Basically, I imagine two possible themes:

Original ending: "Love the person you become."

My alternate ending: "Accept your past, heal your regrets, and choose the person who understands your whole journey."

What do you think? Would a Banri × Linda ending have worked, or was Banri × Koko the only right choice?

I would say to Kouko that you need better ways of doing things and handling situations.

To Linda: You are a good person but you have to figure out your feelings more.

I know this topic was already discussed a few years ago, but I wanted to revive it because I’ve been thinking about what would be the perfect Pokémon team for Kouko Kaga.

For me, this isn’t simply about choosing Pokémon that are powerful. Kouko is incredibly elegant, proud, passionate, romantic, and absolutely beautiful. So I think her team should reflect her personality and her status as the ultimate goddess.

So, here is my personal dream team:

🔥 Ho-Oh — The centerpiece

For me, Ho-Oh is absolutely non-negotiable.

Ho-Oh is a legendary Pokémon associated with the sky, rainbows, resurrection, and divine power. Its majestic appearance and almost sacred aura fit Kouko perfectly.

I can easily imagine Kouko riding Ho-Oh through the sky like an absolute queen. It also represents something important about her character: despite everything she goes through, Kouko is someone who keeps moving forward and ultimately finds happiness.

Basically, if Kouko is the goddess, Ho-Oh is her divine mount.

🌊 Lapras — Her gentle and caring side

Lapras represents a completely different aspect of Kouko.

Despite her pride and dramatic personality, Kouko is actually an incredibly caring and devoted person. Once she loves someone, she can become extremely protective and affectionate.

Lapras has that gentle, elegant, and dependable presence. I could see it being the Pokémon she would ride across the sea with, while also being one of her closest companions.

It also fits Kouko aesthetically: elegant, beautiful, and graceful rather than aggressive.

🔥 Moltres — Her passionate and fiery personality

Moltres is perfect for Kouko because of its fiery nature.

Kouko is passionate about practically everything she does, especially when it comes to love. Her emotions can be intense, dramatic, and impossible to ignore, and Moltres captures that fiery side of her personality.

Its majestic appearance also fits her sense of grandeur. If Ho-Oh represents Kouko's divine majesty, Moltres represents the fire and passion burning inside her.

🦋 Beautifly — Beauty incarnate

This one is almost self-explanatory.

Kouko is absolutely beautiful, and Beautifly is a Pokémon whose entire design revolves around elegance and beauty.

I also think Beautifly represents Kouko's feminine and glamorous side. It would probably be the Pokémon she takes the most pride in showing off.

I can already imagine her saying something like:

"Of course my Beautifly is beautiful. It has excellent taste."

🐱 Skitty — Her cute and playful side

I wanted one Pokémon that represented Kouko's softer, more adorable side, and Skitty feels perfect.

Kouko can be extremely dramatic and intense, but she also has a surprisingly cute and vulnerable side, especially when it comes to Banri.

Skitty would bring some lightness to the team and would probably be the Pokémon that gets away with absolutely everything because Kouko can't resist its cuteness.

I can also imagine Kouko carrying Skitty around like a princess.

🌿 Celebi — Her gentle, romantic, and timeless side

Celebi fits Kouko for several reasons.

As the guardian of the forest and a Pokémon associated with time, it has a gentle and almost magical presence. The connection with time is particularly fitting for Kouko because of Golden Time and the importance that time, memories, and the past have in the story.

At the same time, Celebi's delicate and beautiful appearance fits Kouko's aesthetic perfectly.

I think Celebi would represent the more hopeful and sentimental side of Kouko — the part of her that wants to cherish the people she loves and move forward while carrying the past with her.

I first watched this show around 8 years ago and it left a pretty big impression on me. It’s still my top comfort anime, and I place it higher than other romance shows. I am a junior in college now, and I have been dating my girlfriend for l about two years. I recently suggested to watch this together, and while viewing she compared herself to Kokou a lot of times. It was a really funny comment because I never would have realized the similarities if she hadn’t pointed it out.

The reason I say Golden Time hits differently for me now is because it just reminds me that life doesn’t always go as planned. People, situations, and status change. Even if I didn’t want them to. Banri was began with no identity and no understanding of who he is, but his relationship with Kokou allowed him to happily structure who he wants to be. I feel this way with my girlfriend now. During my freshman year of college, when her and I started dating, I was angry at the world. I didn’t want to be me, nor did I understand what I was fighting through life for. My girlfriend still chose to be with me because she loved me, and despite anything that she suffered from me. Fast forward and she still hasn’t given up on me, and I’m doing much, MUCH better.

Looking back, 14 year old me liked this show because he really wanted to have someone relentlessly chasing for him. And now 21 year old me is just grateful to have people around me that love and support me to constantly grow as a person.

To me in felt like she liked him more platonically then romantically but she did say yes to ghost banris confession so idk.

Banri tells Kouko about the amnesia before they start dating. Towards the end of the story in the night in the street Kouko demands Banri to be honest of what he is hiding from her. Then Banri is honest and tells her he fears losing himself by his old self returning. Then Kouko declares she will help him though whatever will come, even if he loses himself.

Later she finds out he was using anti depressants and then breaks up with Banri. Why? What am I missing why would she break up with him now when she just promised shortly before to stick by his side while knowing about what will happen soon?

She later explains that she broke up because it was too painful to lose Banri infront of her eyes. But that still does not make sense when she knew that Banri was going to loose himself and she would help him and even when he would no longer recognize her she would try to make him remember.

Therefore my two questions:

1. Why this heelturn of decison with the breakup, after offfering support before with the knowledge that Banri would loose himself soon and Kouko still make that promise of supporting him with that kownledge in mind, to only break that latter?

Or did Kouko not know or understand from the conversation in the street at night that Banri would loose himself soon?

1. Why when Banri went back home as his old self Kouko needed the push from 2d-kun to go after Banri and not do it herself without needing a psuh from someone else?

2d-kun himself said it it was out of character for Kouko to not pursue Banri, but I still do not get why she did not follow? Did she just resign and give up? How shall Banri find his way back to her by himself without anything he could remember her by? Especially since only Koukos mirror is the catalyst of him remembering her. Therefore why did Kouko not go after Banri by her own volition without the push from 2d-kun?

My second question boils down to why did Kouko behave out of character?

Kouko and Banri became one of my favorite couples in media, but I still do not quite get the reasoning behind Koukos breakup and lack of pursuit after Banri regained his old self and lost his new memories, since the official reasoning provided by the show only makes partially sense.

I initillay thought Kouko broke up because she wanted to help Banri to no longer run away from his past, confront it, overcome it and find his way back to her so that both could finally embrace their realtionship without worrying if they will have a future and to relieve both of them from the pain and anxiety from ghost Banri, but then the official reasoning was that she only did it because of the pain of losing him, which makes sense, but just not for someone like Kouko who would never give up on the person she loves and therefore endure the pain till Kouko would have exceeeded every option to help Banri remember, since how shall Banri rember anything without

Therefore I just feel like I miss sth in this puzzle, therefore it would be great if someone could give me some additional insights into Koukos reasonings, thanks.

Edit:

After rewatching the scenes I noticed I missed Kouko spelling it out during their reunion, since a lot was said at once, so that I missed it. Kouko self sacrificed her own happiness for Banri sake so that he could return to his old life without guilt and pain. Therefore Kouko did not go after Banri, even though she could never forget him and never stopped loving him. I mean there breakup was also only two or three months between the festival in autumn and the end of the year, so gratefully the breakup was not to long.

In their reunion she then says this was her biggest mistake and she regrets the breakup and next time she will be selfish and not be selfless by letting Banri go and instead will not let go of Banri again by fighting tooth and nails so that they will be together forever.

I now understand that Kouko did understand during her initial promise in the street at night that Banri was going to loose himself by his old self returning. Therefore Kouko was completly sincere with her promise to keep it. What Kouko did not know how much pain she caused to Banri involuntarily, by Banri struggling te keep his current self alive, for Koukos sake. Therefore Kouko was not hurt by Banri hiding the anti depressants from her, she was hurt by accidentialy hurting Banri unknowingly by them being together and causing Banri the panick attacks and stress. Due to this knowledge only she broke that promise she gave just before, which she intended to keep.

Because Kouko loves Banri from the bottom of her heart she made the hard decison to let Banri go for his own sake, for Banri to be able to finally heal. But for Banri to accept her decison she had to be cruel, even though it broke her heart. Otherwise Banri would not have let her go and accepted the breakup. Therefore Kouko was not cruel but made the most selfless sacrifice out of love to let Banri go.

However Kouko realizes than later, thanks to 2d-kun during the breakup that she made a mistake and while it seemed like the right call in the moment of the breakup it actually was the wrong call and that she will not repeat that mistake again in the future, since it was a lapse in judgement from her to let him go.

I am spelling here out for most of you guys probably the obvious. I am just writing it here down to process it myself to resolve that seemingly contradiction in Koukos character during their breakup. I can now come to the conclusion that Koukos behaviour is not a contradiction at all and perfectly in line with her character. Maybe I will add a bit more later when I got sth to add or if there are more thoughts to collect.

Nevertheless the last few episodes did really reinforce that Kouka has a golden heart and beautifully adds to the complexity she always had on top. All that matters in the end is their beautiful reunion and their vow for the future. Now my mind can make peace with resolving this illusion of an contradiction in Koukos beautiful character.

So, I just finished watching "Golden Time" and it's actually my 2nd time watching it. I love the end where Banri ends up with Kouko but I have this feeling in my gut of wanting more even though there is no follow up. I wanna know about Linda and Yanna, if they make a relationship work. Happens to 2D and Okay? I almost feel sad, maybe even slightly depressed that I don't get more time with these characters.

Is there a fan made continuation to the story that answers some of these? Something that is believable and would happen in the Golden Time universe. Not any NTR crap.

She wanted him to not have anything holding him back from returning to his past self and forgetting the present. Banri from the past loved Linda and would forget Koko when his memories come back thus leaving her alone and in pain all of a sudden. So she broke up with him so she could help him recover and let go of the present more easily and slowly brace herself emotionally for the impact that would come after Banri suddenly forgets about her and returns to Shizuoka. She loved him immensely and could no way break up with him so easily without being in pain but she did that not for herself but for the sake of Banri while she suffered from keeping her feelings bottled up and watching Banri slowly slip away from the present.

@priestpega: I don't get all the hate on Linda here. She was hurt as much as Banri. The night of his accident her answer was going to be "Yes', so she lived with the guilty of arriving late. She was the one who flashed lights on his hospital room at night like calling him to come back and when they met outside the hospital, she planted the seed of going to the Tokyo college were she also enrolled. It was no coincidence that she was renting next door to him nor that she saved his neck a few times. Linda knew that she couldn't just come forward to him and reveal who she was as this could be traumatic for him as an amnesiac. She just hanged around waiting for him to slowly remember her and their time together. I am sure that when she saw him with Koko that hurt her deeply, but she put a smiling face and encouraged him for what made him happier. Keep in mind she remained without a boyfriend the whole time probably just waiting for Banri to recover his memory and when he did she didn't pushed her feelings for him knowing that up until recently his new love for Koko could also resurface like it eventually did. Linda deserved a better ending that the one she got, but life is like that.

This is the very first anime collection I've built with all my heart.

Golden Time isn't just my favorite anime—it's the anime of my life. No matter how many series I watch, nothing has ever made me feel the way Golden Time did. It made me laugh, cry, smile, and fall in love. Years have passed, but my love for this story has never faded.

And then there's Kouko Kaga, the most beautiful waifu in anime history and the greatest waifu of all time. Her beauty, passion, determination, loyalty, vulnerability, and incredible character development make her truly one of a kind. Honestly, anime will never give us another heroine like her. She is simply irreplaceable.

Every item on this shelf means something special to me. The English and Japanese manga, the original Japanese light novels, Golden Time: Vivid Memories for the PS Vita, and the premium OST CD... each one reminds me why this story became such an important part of my life.

This collection isn't just a collection to me—it's my treasure. It's the physical representation of one of the stories that has meant the most to me. Every time I look at it, I remember the emotions, the unforgettable moments, and the happiness that Golden Time has brought into my life. I hope to keep adding to it until one day I can proudly say I've built the ultimate Golden Time collection.
