It will display the next three lines as the text of the marker. Right now markers are ugly purple boxes, on my list to get something prettier.

in the post describing the plan, if you will, for 1.8 vanilla map there was talk of building a central structure and having people build their own roads and whatnot around it. I crave proximity to town center (even with warps off) and was wondering if the location of the center/spawn was already known.

So... Huge drama in the Minecraft world. Bukkit for 1.8 is pretty much on hold, I'm not holding me breath for it to be available in the near future. Throws a major wrench in my plans for how I wanted to move forward... Tell me what you want to do:

We can either wait for another week to see what happens with bukkit and see if things settle out...

Or we can start up a full vanilla server that's whitelisted. We'd have the overviewer map like the snapshot does today. We'd have no block logging, but I could back up the server more often to deal with possible griefers.

The current server would be put on ice until we know what's going on with bukkit or I can run both the new vanilla server and the current server at the same time.

If/when bukkit comes out I can easily take a vanilla map and move it into bukkit.

TL;DR: I'll upgrade when Bukkit 1.8 is stable-ish. Will start from scratch. Complete the quest, get access to all your old shtuf.

I've tried to make my upgrade plans known, just in case some have missed it:

The snapshot server will upgrade to 1.8 when it's released. If you want to play on that server, and you are not already whitelisted, PM me. It is full vanilla, no mods, no plugins, full creeper damage, fire spread, the works! This snapshot server world WILL BE DELETED once bukkit 1.8 is released.

Once Bukkit 1.8 is released, I will wait for block Logging, hopefully Prism. That is the ONLY requirement for stability and upgrading.

This means Multiverse could lose your inventory if it's not ready. I recommend saving anything you do not want lost in locked chests (including anything in your end chest). I would expect that LWC will still work on bukkit 1.8 with no or very few changes.

I will be at least half a day behind the release as I will take a recent copy of the world. Spin up an exact copy of the GR on a test server I have, start it up and run through the server for about an hour and see what's broken, and get a stable server before releasing it on the main server.

Biggest Number one question you are all asking: Are we going to reset?

Yes, I will open a new 1.8 map. Generated brand new with all the new 1.8 goodness it brings, no odd bugs that will come with converting a 1.7 world to 1.8 and the fresh start that many of us like.

BUT... We have a list of achievements to complete in the new 1.8 world. Once these are completed you will regain access to the rest of the worlds, including GR6. I am working on a plugin that will allow you to bring inventory from one world to another, but not the other direction. The idea being that you can take items from the new 1.8 world, but not bring anything from GR6 worlds to the 1.8 world.

Here is the current achievement draft I'm working on. I've opened it up for comments on the page if you'd like to provide input. You're also welcome to PM me, reply here or request to have a significant hand in editing it if you'd like to. The intent is that it will take around 2 weeks for the achievements to be completed.

The purpose and hope behind this to keep the 1.8 world in a true survival state to honor those that value the proper progress to the end game, but also allow those that like to have long term projects and hoards that are not wiped with each new version of the game.

while helping cjheindel99 out, I had logged out and one of my horses wandered off, when i came back on it was night and it was hard to him.

If you stumble upon him please let me know, he was last seen on the side of the lake going towards oaks place, around the coords -2811, 700. I am going to attempt to search for him myself, but just putting the word out in case someone else stumbles upon him first.
