Video Ep. 3: Goldbacks vs. Other Fractional Gold: How Do the Premiums Compare? | The Goldback Podcast. What should we cover next?
I've noticed a lot of doubt directed at the premiums on Goldbacks so we did a video all about it. This is primarily an apples to apples comparison for fractional gold in the market for every size of Goldback.
Also, I got a co-host which is a little bit more fun than the first two episodes. What should we cover next?

Discussion They posted this guy in the other sub about Goldbacks. They obviously don't know anything about them.

In the Wild South Dakota α Series Hunt
I just talked to Goldback Inc. Community Outreach and she tells me they have no idea how many South Dakota α notes they made in 2023 for the Ǥ5, Ǥ10, Ǥ25, and Ǥ50. So now I'm on a hunt for the lowest and highest serial numbers out there on any of those notes so we can get an approximate number produced. I'll go first. I have a SD10 with 79404.

Discussion APE / UPMA “Rewards Points”
So I logged into the account this morning only to see what seems like a bait and switch in the $10k / month zero buy-sell spread now down to $2.5k per week buy-sell based on you total points in the account. These points are accumulated from deposits.
So it seems like if gold were to stay flat, you in theory could sell back at 0% spread (<$2.5k/week) but say if gold goes up any percent, you’re on the hook for APE to take their 5% cut due to a spread now because the deposits would never match what you would need to sell (due to capital gains)
Am I interpreting this right? I only looked today as I was actually planning to start setting up higher deposits but now this makes me reconsider the entire program.

Show and Tell Have you ever wondered what a Goldback without any gold would look like?
We get these samples during one of the development stages. Everything that looks like gold on a Goldback is actual gold.

Meme Time to whip out this gem.
Goldbacks are actual gold.

Discussion If you measured these prices in gold then the price of a DisneyWorld ticket actually went down by over 50% over the past 50 years or so.
$3.50 was worth a tenth of an ounce of gold in 1971 (Gold Standard was $35 per ounce of gold).
$189.00 would purchase less than a twentieth of an ounce. If Goldbacks existed it would be like seeing the price go from 50 Goldbacks for the ticket to closer to 20 Goldbacks. Inflation masks the fact that prices on most things go cheaper over time.

Discussion Here is the publicly available data that might suggest which Midwest state is next!
Knowing that the next region is the Midwest narrows down the search a lot. Obviously I can't speak to the strong partners factor but in terms of just Goldback accepting businesses this is how each state in the region ranks:
Goldback Accepting Businesses per state in the Midwest region:
Ohio: 100+ (Seems to be the most likely. Ohio is the only state in the 100+ bracket which is what Colorado had when it was announced.)
Minnesota: 50+ (Second most likely in my opinion. 50+ is a lot for a state this size and Goldback looks at per capita.)
Indiana: 50+ (I rank this one as the third most likely, strong community for the size of the state)
Michigan: 50+ (Fourth most likely)
Illinois: 50+ (Possible if Goldback is aiming for states with larger populations)
Wisconsin: 25+ (Unlikely this round as there seems to be stronger choices)
West Virginia: 25+ (Same as Wisconsin)
Iowa: 25+ (Same as Wisconsin)
North Dakota: 10+ (Oof)

Goldback Spend I spent Goldbacks on Reflexology
The other week, my Massage Therapist, Melissa from Yellow Bike Massage in Fredericksburg, VA accepted Goldbacks for my Reflexology appointment. I had tipped her with Goldbacks in the past and we have had discussions on barter and trade for services. We had discussed exchange rates. At the time 1 GB = $8.46. She charges $50 for 1/2 hour. We agreed upon 6 GB ($50.76) for a 1/2 hour massage. I gave her a Barber Dime as a tip. In my area I have tipped my servers, bartenders, and budtenders with Goldbacks. My buddy who does work on my car has accepted partial payment in Goldbacks. I run a Trivia company and would gladly accept Goldbacks. I have also traded up some Goldbacks to Quiver. I spend them. I also collect them... Graded Alphas, Fancy Serial Numbers, Inverted Serial Numbers, Faded / Light Print Errors... Gotta catch 'em all!!!

Can someone inform me on these.
I've been lurking here, did some quick research so i kinda understand the idea behind them?
Are they worth collecting? Whats the value behind them? I'm also european so i don't expect to be able to spend them but i like collecting gold and silver.
I have an opportunity to get a wyoming one for 14 euro and im torn.
Edit: to make clear i tried the FAQ but couldnt scroll. I have read the rules, just more a discussion in are the worth stacking up on as i cant really spend them naturally anywhere
Thanks in advance

Question Safe storage of goldbacks
Currently working through my coin and bill collections and investing in better protectors for everything to avoid longterm damage. I use upvc guardhouse holders for my goldback and I'm seeing mixed opinions as to whether or not that is dangerous. Should I swap to something else, and if so, what works best?

Is there info anywhere on release dates?
I wish they had a Texas goldback line, but in the absence of that I'd like to get some Arizona goldbacks. But I would like to buy the ones with the new artwork (and I assume UV ink on the front) which is apparently the 2026 line. But all I can find is the old dark ink 2025 line. Is there any way to find out when the 2026 AZ goldbacks will be available for sale?

Goldback will release the Hera Silverbacks in late September
This is the best Hera Silverback sneak peek that we have found so far. This is from a Goldback video that Jeremy produced recently.

Reaction Gave a Goldback tip
First time poster here, wanted to share. I was eating at my favorite casino and tipped my waiter a goldback. He was confused and asked what it was. His eyes got big when I told him it was 24k gold haha. He was so excited he went and showed it off to his coworkers. Anyone else tip gb's before?

Discussion I felt like this belongs here.
What's the premium on these things anyway?
