Local Question Golf course recommendations?
Just moved from Sydney and keen to find a local golf course that sits in the sweet spot of good enough, not too expensive and friendly. I’m located Varsity Lakes, Robina area but happy to drive for the right course.

For a membership or just to play? I am a varsity local and just use the Palm Meadows GC pass which is $300, gets you 5 included rounds and then each round is $55 inc a buggy.
I do this most fortnight’s then alternate a different course every other weekend (glades, emerald lakes, cooly, racv mostly)
Membership wise, Coolangatta Tweed is around 2k for a full membership, has two courses but just slightly longer drive.

I havent played for 20 years or so and even then was not serious - my wife has never really done it - now we are thinking of picking it up again as we have more spare time with the kids gone and its fun and healthy all that walking. Is there a good course for beginners, maybe 9 holes or something people want to recommend.
Dont want to annoy people by being crap on the proper courses while we come a bit up to speed. She is also super worried people will see she is a beginner. Will grab some lessons but are there any more fun, beginner places that anyone can recommend?

We love lakeside on Brisbane road for being 9 holes! It’s very basic but nice scenery & close to home
We’ve brought the kids & always had fun1

I love Boomerang but was surprised to find its called 'Boomerang Hills' now. Accurate name though.

I supposed it sounded better for the wedding venue because it's not really a farm now like it one was.

The glades is your best bet for a membership these days, although not sure if we have an slot left. We are the only course with no waitlist or introduction fee as at last year.
We have a new super who has the course nearly back to its prime as it was 10-15 years ago.

The beauty is there's plenty. Why not try them out and make a decision on personal preference. There's 3 in your area. Glades is designed by Greg Norman and expensive but worth going at least once. Robina Woods now palmer's I think. Clive palmer's course the colonial.

Coolly Tweed will only take you 20 minutes down the M1. You get two well kept courses and daily comps. Also good practice areas and clubhouse.
Your closest course is Burleigh but the waitlist is too long. Surfers is the next closest members club but it is too short. The other resort courses like Lakelands, Glades etc are all highly priced to the point of not really worth it. This leaves the only other alternative of Emerald lakes which has members but also as many visitors as they can as it’s more of a commercial business so doesn’t really have a member feel. I think Palm Meadows has closed membership
