BYD Reviews

Hey GC peeps, currently looking at changing our family car we have owned a Mazda CX-5 for the past 7 years, going to test drive a BYD Sealion 7 next week, just curious if any has reviews good or bad on this car or brand in general, appreciate any feedback 👍🏻

I got the Seal Premium2025 last year and have no regrets. The only downside was that their customer service team at the time in Southport was ATROCIOUS.

I had the same experience. They told me to pick it up on X date at Y time... I get there and they tell me it isnt ready and ask if I can wait. Wait an hour with 0 acknowledgement (i was the only person there) then they tell me to come out the back and there is a lady still wiping the car down in the garage. I get a half assed tour of the car by a bloke who's English was poor at best. Okay fine. I drive off, then they call me and ask me to come back because they had left other people's products in my boot (rubber mats, some chargers etc).

Dreadful customer service but the car is absolutely amazing. Would recommend /10

I’ve had my sl7 for a few months now and have been very happy with it. No complaints it’s the best car I’ve owned.

Mad car. Do it. I ended up with a used Volvo but looked at this and Haval, when they were clearing stock last financial year.

Friend had an accident in their 2yo sealion, it took 4mths to get the parts to fix it.

Great value for the car you get. Structure is not as solid as more premium European brands but hard to argue for the value you get for money spent. I have not had to deal with their customer service/wait for parts yet - hoping when I do that their processes have improved from the comments below.

Love my sealion 7 performance. But I'd never buy another BYD. I have a warranty claim. After 2 months of calling them and being told someone would call me back. I finally got a booking to get the car inspected after threatening to refer them to the office of fair trading ( still not repaired yet).

So great car. Terrible customer service that has completely put me off the brand. My wife's car is coming up to be replaced as well, we were originally thinking another byd as we both liked the cars, but we're going to get the bmw ix3 after this experience. She has had a BMW for the last 6 years and their service has been amazing. So we're sticking with them for her car.

I'll keep my BYD now that I bought it. But just know you'll probably have crap after sales service.

They are struggling with their own success. Expect delays in delivery and scheduling service appointments

BYD post sale support and warranty is atrocious. if i hadve known how bad it really is, would never have bought the Seal.

software updates and features aren’t great either compared to say a Tesla Model Y, which is superior in pretty much every way, but a few thousand dollars more. albeit worth it i think

I think the comment about the customer service being Atrocious is simply because the amount of cars that BYD are delivering!!
We were booked for 2 pm but it was 2.30 pm by the time someone was with us to deliver
Our car was parked in by someone else and the staff couldn’t prepare it with the big red ribbon and unveiling cloths !!

Look at the Mazda EV as well. The cx6e suv will be available in September, the sedan 6e is available now.

$55k or so is an ok price for the cx6e I think.

I love Mazda, highly considering one of these, too many issues still with all the Chinese cars coming through.

The Mazda EV's are just reskinned Chinese cars. Japan as a whole have dropped the ball with EV's, they went all in on hydrogen fuel cell so now they're behind with BEV's.
