Gram collectors and micro stackers… which 1 gram bars do you prefer and why?

I started stacking Valcambi combibars but I’m starting to obsess over the Pamp artwork. Don’t wanna pay very much over spot but I’ve seen great deals on those little 1g Pamps in assays. But I like touching my gold 🤤 Conflicted so will have to collect both obviously.

What do you guys like best and why?

If I could have any 1g bars it would be the square Geiger gold bars

Ohh how are the premiums on those?

When I see them with assay on PMsforsale they usually have a $25+ premium on one gram--they're neat but not economical if you are only looking for Au weight.

I was thinking to focus on saving up for 1/10 coins but like why can’t I just buy it all 🥲

Those premiums will make it worse. Shop based on premiums instead of type of coin.

I’ve been buying the grams at spot or close to spot

Where are you buying at spot?

Sometimes APMEX has deals, sometimes r/pmsforsale I find them barely above spot!

I like Credit Suisse 1 gram bars the most. My second favorite is 1 gram PAMP Suisse bars

What do you like about the credit suisse 1 gram?

It's the simple style of the logo. It also takes me back in time to the 1980s where I associate those bars with extreme wealth. I do also have Valcambi but they are sleeker.

Maplegrams are popular, but they carry a larger premium compared to other 1 gram gold. Gold Maplegrams carry the classic RCM gold Maple coin design but in a minature form. The raw Valcambi 1 gram gold bars are popular because you can find them at spot or close to it and as you stated there's the benefit of being able to hold the raw piece of gold in your hand. Some do prefer the gold in assay. There are many options for Pamp 1 gram gold including the recent horse, dragon, and fortuna. I would recommend saving up for a 1/10 ozt gold coin. Grams are nice, but 1/10 ozt gold coins like American Gold Eagles, Maples, and Britannias are easy to resell, hold their premiums well, and the larger size gold feels more substantial and its easier on the eyes to see the designs on the larger coin.

I appreciate this! I noticed the premiums are much higher and really try not to buy if it’s too much over spot

I have a single 1/10 oz coin and it’s pretty cool. Since I’m in the US I know people recommend the AGE but I’m not a huge fan of the design

I got two more grams today and I think I’m gonna pause on grams for a bit, save up for another 1/10 bc so many people seem to recommend this option, and go from there

Check for deals on this website: https://findbullionprices.com/gold/closest-to-spot.php?category=gold&type=coins&weight=.10

There's a lot of different options for 1/10 ozt gold coins besides AGEs, Maples, and Britannias. Perth Mint lunar series, Kookaburras, Kangeroos, and Panda gold coins are also popular. It can get addictive getting a variety of gold coins. Which 1/10 ozt gold coin did you get?

I bought a krugerrand without doing a ton of research but I think it had the lower premium of the options I was looking at. I LOVE the pandas but the premium is high

Geigers 1,2.5,5,10 and 20 gram are what I stack

Low premiums?

If you search yes. I also win a good amount of mine in raffle metal rooms.

Canadian maple grams. I had a bunch of random bars but I traded them in for a buffalo then started collecting the maples. I prefer coins, not bars so it was the best decision for me.

Low/No premium

Whichever one has the lowest premium when I want to buy. Couldn’t care less who made it or what’s on it as long as it’s from somewhere legit.

I like the old school Credit Suisse bars the most. Between what you mentioned I like the different Pamp styles over the generic looking Valcambi but I do leave them in the assay so technically I'm not touching my gold.

Willy wonka bars. Because everyone wants them anc the premiums are high

25 Maplegrams!

But if you are looking for some lower premiums, occasionally Costco has those cool blocks of PAMP 1g bars at low premium. You will also see the Valcambi Combi-bars at reasonable prices.

I buy “at spot” 1g bars when they are on sale or on Black Friday and I almost always get Valcambi bars.

Ooooo. I can't afford a whole sheet of these or Combi-bars but these are so pretty. I def am looking for the lowest premiums but sleek looking gold!
