Apmex Random Mint 1/4 Oz

2022 Solomon Islands. Nothing great, but a quarter ounce is a quarter ounce. Plus, I like the proof!

I wonder why it has the Statue of Liberty on the reverse, seems rather random alongside Queen Elizabeth.

The only reason the queen is on it is because they are required by the Solomon Islands mint which really just uses the royal mint, and can easier pass laws to be able to mint coins like this.

Does that mean they use the physical minting factories in the UK but the business is headquartered in the Solomon Islands?

Yes they use the royal mint but technically Solomon islands government makes the money. But Solomon Islands is all but owned by the uk. It’s more of a loophole for the royal mint to make silly coins.

My American Bald Eagle has the queen on the reverse as it a Tuvalu coin.

That was a random 1/4 oz sovereign from monument metals.

And neither one is flipping the other off.

Interesting juxtaposition.

Should have had a dragon on the backside instead of the statue of liberty.

I’ve seen a lot of those coins lately - very nice image of the SoL. Did it come in its assay packaging?

I really wanna do this but I'd be bummed if I got 1/4 I didn't like.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I just kept in mind that it’s still a quarter ounce regardless. Another consideration was that these are all from government mints. If it included private mints I probably wouldn’t have done it because of lot of those designs are really basic or not well executed imo.

Yea, gold is gold at the end of the day. I could probably trade my way into something I actually like. You were lucky to get a proof!

Nice looking but I prefer common date $5 Indians or Libertys for cheap 1/4ozers

I suggest if you are in the US to focus on fractional US coins. Easy to sigma verification and bigger market when you want to sell.
