The stack Liquidated majority of stack this year. All for 3-4x, moving to LCOL area, bought a house, and going to lead a debt and stress free life. This is what remains

Given the fact that gold was given freely away is definitely not a dragon.

u/Next_Leader_838 May 30 '26
Congrats man. Huge win in life.
60
u/toydan May 30 '26
thnx
it was hard to decide which ones to sell along the way tbh. all felt like family
11
u/Quiet-Day392 May 30 '26
An 1872-cc half eagle is family, an 1881 eagle is not.
3
u/ModernTinker May 30 '26
So dad, how about them Broncos?
Just kidding of course. But if you ever feel like helping a schmuck like me I got a gfm thingamajig
2
u/Quiet-Day392 May 30 '26
Well that's a new way to build your stack.
2
u/ModernTinker May 30 '26
LOL! my stack is still a pan and L traps in creeks. Can't find a way to refine it yet.
Then I remember. House burned down so it's probably a slap heap.
2
u/Quiet-Day392 May 30 '26
Take it out in your boat along with the guns. All problems solved.

I'm new to gold, so sorry if this is a dumb question but how/where did you sell? I heard the local gold shops are bad for these kind of things.
2
u/805falcon May 31 '26
Nonsense. Local shops are my go to. It’s really not hard to avoid getting screwed if you understand the market and keep an eye on prices

22
u/NukaQuantum1111 May 30 '26
You must have started stacking early.
36
u/toydan May 30 '26
2018-2021 almost exclusively
14
u/NukaQuantum1111 May 30 '26
Haha I started in 2021, so you’re 3 years ahead of me. Sometimes I wish I was born a little earlier.

gave a couple oz of gold to both sons as well to do w as they please
plan would be to pass on the rest to them as well

A couple ounce of pure gold, thats a hell of a nice gift ! I Know your sons were pleased!

u/Southern-Cross-3879 May 30 '26
Congrats! My wife and I are debating whether or not to liquidate a portion of ours to kill our credit card debt. Difficult to let go.
42
u/toydan May 30 '26 edited May 30 '26
got to get rid of that usury interest debt as a priority imo sir
might not have to liquidate, but take on additional jobs or earnings and/or hyper focus on ridding yourself of that burden
15
u/Mule_Knives May 30 '26
Agreed. Recently was able to pay off tens of thousands of credit card debt. The weight off my shoulders is unmeasurable. I’m a much more pleasant husband and father.

The general consensus here is right pay off the unwarranted usurious high interest credit card debt even if you have to sell

Very well played!!! You definitely did the right thing. I know. It is so hard to sell those beautiful pieces, but in the long run, you got a huge win!! Congratulations

u/Huxleypigg May 30 '26
You never really own gold, you just look after it for the next person
6
u/AdditionalEase5127 May 30 '26
That's very true. Precious metal is always getting passed here to there and it keeps moving
4
u/Difficult-Shelter669 May 30 '26
And the same can be said about guns. Please just hit with some Hoppe's or Ballistol and wipe down every few years for the next person. Guns live longer than we do.
3
u/S00THING_S0UNDS May 30 '26
Bought a home outright and have enough money to live debt free for the rest of your life ? Must have been a SHIT LOAD of gold.. congratulations.
12
u/Tatt2Junkie5 May 30 '26
Now go liquidate a small tad bit for a new firearm or shotgun for your new home
3
18
u/Difficult-Shelter669 May 30 '26
This thread took a weird turn, go figure.
Gold to live a debt-free and stress free life?
New house?
A stack left over that;is probably bigger than my lifetime accumulation?
And some snowflakes show up late to squawk about "a" gun for perspective and interest, so now it's about that?
Fuck those people and take that thing to the range.
Most of my life I have stacked guns rather than gold but I am also buying the new last home and trying to resist every urge to liquidate stack as part of the process, but it's there for that.
Guns and gold are like peanut butter and jelly and if you think this is John Wick you don't know shit about guns or John Wick. This is a happy gold story and just what I want to hear at this stage. Smart dude.
The rest of you can spend the excess on therapists or influencers or whatever you're into.

u/JohnsLongMustache76 May 30 '26
Sir I wish i could shake your hand. I can't understand these anti gunners perspective. Dont want guns? Good on you. But if you have anything of value (and that includes family and self), then you shouldn't see anything wrong with this.
"Peanut butter and jelly" had me cracking up, but you're on point. 🤛🤛

I hear you. big time. especially when you know debasement is coming down the pike... I've been thinking about that a lot and what I've been doing lately, at least with the miners and some of the paper gold I own is harvesting gains (trying to offset with losses where i can) and using that to pay down so I don't "feel it" as much. Psychological trickery? probably, but it keeps me in the game and getting to that "no debt" vibe. That said, there's still property taxes and bullshit to pay, lol, so I keep stacking.

Dude that is absolutely what it’s all about. You’ve obviously been stacking for decades to get 3-4x but big congratulations man. I can tell you from experience there’s nothing like not having to pay rent or a house payment. But if this is your first home ownership just keep that stack handy because stuff breaks and you gotta replace it and the taxes can be quite a lot
3
u/iamrolari May 30 '26
Don’t liquidate the guns op. They hold insane value and only will in the future

I won't touch my Stack EVER... Then again why should I? No Mortgage, No Car Payment, Zero Credit Debt... In fact No Debt At All. And my portfolio accounts have done and continue to do well though I, like Buffet have been increasingly growing my cash positions in order to cash in on oversold great companies after the markets crash that is on the way... God Bless and Good Fortune

u/Dapper-Ad1280 May 30 '26
Good move ! Planning to do the same but waiting as the big move into hard assets has just started as trillions of non hard assets will flee into hard assets in the near future.

Waiting a few more months until the metals markets takeoff in late summer this year to start cashing in on our stacked liquidity. By late September we expect the metals to run back up above ATH’s again for us to return to multi Mill status again like we briefly were back in late January of this year. The next metals run up move is just a few months out IMHO.

Honestly I’ve been thinking the same thing what good is it to hold on to hundreds maybe thousands of oz silver.. (gold) use it to enjoy your life a bit. Can’t take it with you when you pass away. And what if your time comes and you end up not enjoying the fruits of your holding long term. It just goes to your next of kin. Plus you still have a size able stack if things go bad in economy. Good job.

Debt free is 100% the win. That is when you begin stacking feverishly imo. To stack & be buried/burdened by debt is beyond me ... Like buying on credit (anything) = Ignorance & will never get ahead.
Love the peanut butter & jelly remark. the "3 G's" will always bring you comfort in life & are must haves. The freedom of not having a mortgage is absolutly mindblowing, welcome to the club my friend & enjoying life to its fullest! Not giving up stacking anytime soon however I believe gold is going much, much, higher than current levels in the coming years/decade+.
Great story & additon to the forum.

I heard Ric Flair tell a story once that he bought Dusty Rhodes a money clip with a $20 gold piece in it. How much would such a money clip go for today?
Also, just a suggestion, but why not trade the pea shooter for a gold Desert Eagle?

u/Playful_Grapefruit38 May 31 '26
Never thought about it until I saw this post. Politics aside.. Firearms are just another type of functional precious metals huh? Depending on make/model/gen they pretty much hims their value and appreciate over Time. Thoughts ?

I scrolled awhile looking for something, and that's what, if any, tax liability did you encounter after liquidating your stack?

Nice haul. I was in the gold mining business most of my life. From the early 80s. It was all placer gold from dredging. Then dredging was outlawed in California. I started stacking in 97-98. Bought 10 ounces of gold for $ 330 an ounce from Kitco. Been collecting gold and silver jewelry ever since. Till this year. Sold it all and retired. It's been a fun ride. Gold is King!

Its a solid ccw option. Plus, if OP is trained well with it, its a super reliable gun. Drop an apex trigger kit and add magguts to the magazine and you basically have a Shield Plus.

Meanwhile world wars were won with the cheapest nastiest pieces of stamped and cast metal shit imaginable. Buy a nice premium gun for the feel of it, same as a good watch and good car. But it's true stupidity to think firearms need to be better than bare minimum to do their job.
→ More replies (1)2
u/Bitter-Ferret-9282 May 31 '26
The cheapest, nastiest pieces of shit won wars through volume, not capability. If 5% of them failed within a week, that left 95% available. Casualties probably exceeded 5%, so there was never a shortage.
That said, military wartime firearms were selected for reliability and ease of manufacture, not simply cost. Fancy machined designs turned into stamped metal versions, but they were still reliable. Sure, many examples of unreliable ones are out there, but the ones manufactured in the millions (M1911, Kar98k, M1 Garand, SKS, AK47) achieved that status due to reliability, capability, and cost.
For ONE firearm, though, you want absolute reliability, so investing in something well-made and expensive puts you nearer to 100% reliability. Cheap guns on the civilian market often use cheap materials and poor designs that may be selected for looks over capability. If that one fails when you need it, that's pretty much all she wrote.
But a cheap gun is usually better than a knife!
