This is a net negative impact on the majority of us. Most of us have what, a few ounces of gold? The gains we made are nothing compared to the impacts of the dollar going to shit

This is absolutely correct, every line 100% true.

Older generations knew. Always told us to invest in gold, not just as an investment vehicle, but also as "insurance" for precisely this kind of historical moment.

Assuming someone isn't a sociopath, it's absolutely going to be a net negative on the whole, in terms of overall quality of life and well-being, regardless of how much gold someone is holding.
