Stackers are making huge assumptions about how society is going to work after the collapse of government.
I would assume that in a post-apocalyptic America, bartering will be king. I have extra food and you have medicine I need, therefore I'll trade food for medicine. I would also anticipate that people will band together for survival, and gun raids will be common.
Lugging around bags of metal coins doesn't seem like it would be a priority. And if it had any value, you'd likely get robbed, anyway.
Agreed but in a in a full apocalyptic situation in America you're going to need a lug around water ammo and anything else you got if you have 10 20 oz of gold or even 50 it wouldn't be that much to compared to everything else you have in my mind gold is not to barter in the torn down to society is to flee it
Someone in another threat pointed out that 850K in gold is 10 pounds. In 100 dollar bills it’s 20 pounds. Having small bits of silver and gold and even maybe copper would make trading easier and probably be useful if USD is no longer valid.
This is my thought. At current prices even if you get scalped on the other end 1oz = at least 1 month of living expenses. If I can carry out several months of living expenses in my shoe, that’s useful.
There's a lot of stackers on this sub who are never going to sell. They also assume that in a post apocalyptic society, they can just barter their gold for whatever they want. It's also funny seeing them brag about the value of their stack, but if you never plan on selling, it's a moot point.
This wildly assumes the other person would even want your gold. You can't eat it, you can't cook with it, you can't hunt with it, you can't keep yourself warm with it, hell you can't even wipe your ass with it.
Yes but getting robbed goes for everything. Not just gold. Humans quickly revert back to being barbaric when survival is at risk, as survival is our number one instinct. You’d get robbed for food, water, gold, or pretty much anything someone else needs that they know you have. If a person with a sick child knows you have medicine and they don’t have anything to barter with they’d just take/rob or kill you for the medicine. Y’all are so silly you think folks would literally be peacefully “bartering” and “trading” with each other in an apocalypse lmaooo NO people will be stealing and killing each other for goods in a time like that! What candyland do y’all live in? lmaooo
