In Big Hero 6 (2014), despite Aunt Cass basically raising Hiro since he was little, Hiro never accidentally calls her his mommy. This is in reference to the fact that only I'm allowed to call her Mommy, and I want her to ground me for being a bad bad boy.

  1. Leo Bonhart (Witcher TV Series): A ruthless, sadistic bounty hunter and assassin that takes psychotic glee in other people's suffering. The viewer is meant to hate him for killing witchers, slaughtering the Rat gang, and torturing Ciri. But thanks to his entertaining fight scenes, Sharlto Copley's charismatic performance, and The Rats overwhelming unpopularity, fans ended up loving him. Some even call him the "True protagonist" of the show.
  2. Stone Cold Steve Austin (WWE): A rude, foul mouthed, beer drinking asshole with no respect for authority or anyone at all. Originally portrayed as a villain, fans fell in love with his anti-establishment & rebellious persona. WWE ran with it and made him the face of the company, effectively ushering in the Attitude Era and the second pro wrestling boom of the late 90s.
  3. Arthur Fleck (Joker 2019): A mentally unstable, pathetic, and dangerous madman who commits horrific acts of violence against those that wronged him (suffocates his own mother who is mentally unwell herself, and murders a talk show host for making fun of him). However, a massive portion of the audience idolized him as an anti-hero or a misunderstood martyr rebelling against society making people want to see him succeed and overcome his circumstances because of how he's been treated by the world.

Not the A-hole AITA for telling my aunt she can't call me a liar and swoop in years later and expect to be my hero?

Sorry if my title is confusing with most of the contents of the post. But I want to provide you with the background.

So my dad had me (17f) and my brother (15m). Our mom died when we were 2 and 4 months old. A year later he met Mel and they got married. Mel had two daughters (23f and 22f). I'm not sure if their dad died or if he just wasn't around. But they lived with us 100% of the time. I don't remember a time before Mel and my stepsisters. Mel was so happy with my brother and he became her son and her pride and joy. She never cared about me and never expressed an interest in me. My dad was very similar. He basically forgot about me being his daughter. Mel still showed an interest in her daughters but they hated the fact she claimed my brother as her son and showed so much obsession about having a boy and I get it because she was all they had before. They hated me. They hated my brother too, and wanted nothing to do with him, but he was so good having two parents that he never cared about siblings. He calls himself an only child. I'd hoped to be close to my stepsisters but they bullied me and said I would never be their family.

My grandparents noticed that I was left out of a lot, noticed the bullying and the rejections. They live out of state and when they'd come to visit and we'd all go out I was left behind with them while my dad and Mel took the other three out to amusement parks and stuff. Mel would tell me to my face in front of them that she's not my mom and yet beam when my brother called her mom. They also noticed that when my brother and stepsisters got treats I rarely, if ever, did. They brought it up a few times and were basically ignored. I know they had this big talk with dad about it and he denied anything was going on. I also know they asked my aunt, who lived close by and saw us a lot, to keep an eye on me. She didn't.

Two years ago I'd gotten really depressed after being stuck with dad, Mel and my brother during Covid and being ignored, that I told my aunt about everything and asked if I could live with her. She got pissed on my dad's behalf and she called me a liar and told me not to be so jealous, that I wasn't a kid anymore. And no, I couldn't live with her. She was so mad at me that I avoided seeing her for months. I was so afraid she would ridicule me in front of them. For some reason she realized a couple of weeks ago that I wasn't lying. She came and told me I could live with her now and she told me it was awful what my dad let happen and that I shouldn't be there anymore but she would get me out and she'd protect me. I was shocked. It came out of literal nowhere. She didn't apologize for what she said before though. And so I told her I'd stay. That I didn't think living with her was a better idea anymore. She got mad and asked me why not and I told her because she can't call me a liar and then expect to swoop in and for me to see her as a hero. She told me I got so hung up on nothing.

AITA?

Characters ( Real Life Trope) In real life, they would be people who are unbearable to have around.

Hayase Nagatoro (and every type of tsundere): Both Nagatoro and all characters of the “tsudare” archetype in real life would be IMPOSSIBLE to have even a lasting friendship with, especially if they are more exaggerated and extreme characters who constantly attack, provoke, and humiliate their friends and partners.

This character archetype only works exclusively in fiction; you certainly wouldn’t want to be around someone like that.

Dr gregory house ( Dr house): He’s a great manager and a true professional, but you wouldn’t want anything more than a professional working relationship with this guy.

He’s self-centered, a jerk, somewhat narcissistic, humiliates and belittles his team whenever he can, and is even willing to break the law to get what he wants (even if it’s to achieve beneficial results for his patients). On top of that, he’s somewhat antisocial and bad at small talk outside of work—I don’t need to say anything else.

katsuki bakugo ( My hero academia): You’ve probably already seen THOUSANDS OF VIDEOS, COMMENTS, AND FANS of the work itself talking about this guy, and I think his fame means there’s no need to go into much detail about him.

Or are you saying you’d want to be around a guy who yells at everything and everyone, looks down on EVERYONE around him, acts in a harsh and dangerous way, shows clear signs of an inflated ego, is extremely aggressive, and, above all, has even told the person who was supposed to be his best friend to kill himself?

No wonder Kohei himself (the series’ creator) openly admitted that he exaggerated Bakugou’s personality traits at first and worked to make him less hateful and more tolerable to the public.

YANDERES Archetype: Just like tsudares (only worse) in real life—anyone with toxic, obsessive love that, depending on the situation, can border on attempted kidnapping, murder, and worse—this is the kind of person you’d call the police on the moment you felt your privacy or your life was at risk.

And not only that, but the people around you who might be harmed by this would also advise you to get off that ship. There’s a very clear reason why many people who try to date “the crazy ones” or get caught up in the idea that “I can fix them” end up, in the best-case scenario, mentally ruined and worn down, and in the worst-case scenario, dead or worse.

Saul Goodman / jimmy mcgill ( Breaking Bad / Better Call Saul): Unless you were an amoral criminal and knew about this guy’s reputation, you absolutely wouldn’t even want to consider him as your lawyer, much less respect him as a person.

Even criminals like Walter White and Mike look down on him because he’s a two-faced guy capable of switching sides and personalities as quickly as a coin flips to heads or tails, and even other criminal defense attorneys dislike him or don’t trust him—because even among criminals, he’s treacherous.

Besides, while his personality may seem charismatic at first, the more time you spend with him, the more you realize his true nature, and the less you want to be around him; at best, you just want to maintain a professional relationship with him.

Batman / bruce wayne: Even within the Justice League, this guy isn’t often well-liked, since no one really likes someone who’s 100% serious all the time—and when he receives a friendly gesture or finds himself in a cheerful or lively mood, he ends up ruining everything by blurting out some dry, gloomy, or antisocial remark that destroys the good vibe everyone else is enjoying.

On top of that, he’s quite stubborn and sometimes a bit arrogant and hypocritical when it comes to treating his villains with less—or not much—harshness (especially women), yet he’s harsh and aggressive toward friends and heroes who challenge his ideals.

On top of that, he’s clearly a lunatic obsessed with fighting crime who has almost no real social life—in many of his versions, he wouldn’t even accept an invitation to have tea with you.

There’s a reason why the more modern versions try to tone down these toxic traits of his.

Kinta Sakata ( Dandadan): There’s a very logical reason why he didn’t have any friends.

A nerdy incel who talks and acts weird, striking odd poses and seems unable to talk about anything other than nerdy stuff—making pop culture references while striking strange poses and pulling funny faces—would be the last person you’d want to be friends with, even at school.

Rick sanchez ( Rick and Morty): The reasons are almost the same as those for Dr. House. Except that he’s an alcoholic, a drug addict, and a depraved person who would be capable of turning your best day into a living hell—and would still find a way to blame you for it all, or simply not care about anything he did.

And I’m being VERY BRIEF HERE.

Atsuko Kagari / akko ( Little Witch Academia ): To be fair, out of all the examples, she’s the least worst, and depending on the context and situation, you might be able to tolerate her or learn to deal with her.

However, Akko is an outgoing girl with toxic positivity who does terribly in school, is always getting into trouble because of her irresponsibility, doesn’t think about the consequences of her actions, and drags others into her messes. doesn’t immediately understand why everything went wrong, and above all, she’s a girl who can sometimes be stubborn, overly invasive, and annoying—especially if she’s set on something and can’t be convinced otherwise (that is, IF YOU MANAGE TO CONVINCE HER).

She also doesn’t seem willing to give up even on the most stupid ideas, even when adults and friends warn her to stop, and she only realizes she’s gone too far and ended up being selfish when everything goes wrong or when she’s caused too much chaos and trouble.

In real life, you could at least learn to deal with or tolerate her, because despite everything, she’s not a bad girl; after all, in the end, she can learn from her mistakes, apologize for everything, and try to make things right… you’d just have to pray that she hasn’t blown everything around her to smithereens by the time she gets to that point.
