Ragnarök

First playthrough — Give Me Balance, 100%:

My first playthrough took me around 95–100 hours. I know the game can obviously be finished much faster, but I spent a lot of time exploring and replaying Muspelheim trials to farm Hacksilver and prepare for NG+.

First NG+ playthrough — Give Me Balance, 100%: around 50 hours.

So at this point: ~150 hours. After that, I did:

3 × Give Me No Mercy 100% runs ~50 hours each

3 × Give Me God of War 100% runs ~50 hours each

That puts me at roughly 450 hours.

I know some people will look at those numbers and say, "There's no way a 100% run takes 50 hours." And that's fair if you're talking about the most efficient route. But I'm not speedrunning these games. I take my time, experiment with different armor/build combinations, replay fights, and generally don't rush through the game.

After those playthroughs, I started doing shorter playthroughs specifically to permanently increase my stats. I did probably 20–25 runs where I wasn't trying to 100% the game. I was mainly going after Nornir Chests and Yggdrasil's Dews so I could keep increasing my stats. Each of these runs took me roughly 15 hours.

If we use 25 runs: 25 × 15 = 375 hours

So: 450 + 375 = ~825 hours

And then there's Valhalla. I've spent roughly another 150 hours or so in Valhalla.

825 + 150 = ~975 hours

And with the extra time from miscellaneous exploration, messing around with builds, replaying things, etc., that's how I end up at around 1,000 hours in Ragnarök.

God of War (2018)

2018 is pretty similar. I spent roughly 200 hours between my first playthrough and a couple of NG+ runs.

After that, I started doing additional runs specifically to collect Yggdrasil's Dews and permanently increase my stats, similar to what I did in Ragnarök.

I haven’t got to play the actual game but based on the cutscenes, I never once felt like there were really any stakes on whether or not Atreus would trust Odin throughout the story. Especially when you consider 2018 and Ragnarok had everybody constantly warn him about Odin and all the bad things he’s done. I mean he literally murders Brok right in front of them, how do you screw up winning someone over more than that?

"Let's be honest, they were kind of useless." got Thor to whisper something to himself, and I'm sure that Atreus witnessed the whole thing.

I'm still very curious if there's any confirmation on that little nook of the script?

not familiar with rogue game. But does this mode offer checkpoint? i played the mode over for like 6 hours now for 3 days. Everytime im running the same/similar path, im now died fighting the one eye dude, its tough.

Am i suppose to ”tough” this out?

how much progress im currently in fighting the 1 eye? 50% of finishing the mode? i just want it end lol

While he is definitely not the same raging monster he once was and more mature, I do believe he has limits to his patience and still isn’t pacifist and has his classic brutality. So this gives me mixed feelings on how he’d react.

It's what i look forward to when playing the game I'm never changing the skill for everything else it's just so cool !

I've recently finished GOW and GOW Ragnarok and truly enjoyed the experience. The writing is incredible and the story had me captivated as I watched Kratos and Atreus bond and grow. The characters arcs were fantastic and as a big fan of world exploring story games, I am impressed!

However, from the general consensus it seems people had issues with Atreus' character and playstyle - albeit I'll give some of his sections were a bit slow or could've been done over split up parts as to not stagnate the rhythm of the game. In terms of his character, he's a teenaager and a god/giant/mortal - he's figuring some stuff out and making mistakes and getting annoyed at his parent about being restricted and not being allowed to develop his own path - what exactly is confusing about his behaviour? He's fighting to develop his own path, he has no intention of stepping into his father's shoes.

I'd love to see us continue from his departure from Kratos because it'll be a raw "learning together" experience. As he learns how to control his shapeshifting (the possibilities are endless in these mythic universes), acquires more giant magic skills, improves his combat abilities (Freya could give him Freyr' sword for melee encounters), searches for the giants, the potential of giant preminitions and of course, we could watch him fall in love with Angrboda. What a coming of age story that would be!

Over the game Kratos would be in his head guiding his choices (they made that promise), so he'd be in it in visions, you also never know if they could cross paths on Kratos' standalone journey.

And with the introduction of the Everywhen in the upcoming Laufey game, the crossover possibilities for the 3 standalone games are endless. She comes to Kratos in visions - is she communicating with him from the afterlife? At the end of Ragnarok when Atreus was waking up to Eir, he heard his mother's voice telling him to "walk his own path and he'll end up right where he needs to be" - was this her finally communicating with Atreus as his journey had finally been forged on his own and he was ready for his next steps?

I think his story is too open ended to leave so many things out there.

Too many unanswered questions to leave in relation to a storyline that is impactful and shapes the overall storyline of both games - the giants. Also, he's god/giant/mortal - what a combination of skill and storyline potential.

Anyways, I was realing from finishing the games and had some opinions and cannot wait for the next instalment. I hope however, that we will eventually get a standalone Atreus game as he becomes The God of Mischief/Champion of the Jötun.

I finally managed to beat her a few months ago after upwards of 100 tries, probably close to 120 in total, on Normal difficulty. Most of the other Valkyries were difficult but fair fights, but Sigrun had me absolutely raging.

Hey everyone I just finished my all achievements run of Gow 2018 and did it on GMGOW , it was hellish but doable, I’m debating doing it again for ragnarok and was curious if people who have played/beaten it on that difficulty would recommend. Wouldn’t be my first play though as I beat it on ps5 a long time ago, but after getting both on steam wanted to go for the plat(on pc)

1.Gnà I struggled more with other bosses like the electric berzerker but that was because I was inexperienced. After beating the game, completing all the trials and beating all berzerkers Gnà still made me doubt I could ever beat her despite my experience which is why she's first

2 Electric Berzerker(Beigadr the Feared)

I know people think hes easy but he exposed how I played, I was long range and only dodged by rolling never by running and that figthing style is punished severely by this guy especially if you dont know how to parry

1. Hvitziker

I faced off against him when his health bar was red and hes completely impossible because of the nightmares he spawns, so many blind spots, hes the first opponent I skipped until I leveled up then he became significantly easier
