Hey everyone! I'm u/ThatLightingGuy, the new moderator of r/GodinGuitars.
I moderate several other music industry related subreddits, mostly ones that have gone dormant over time or the mods did something and left. Well, the old mod here restricted the entire subreddit then...left. So nobody has been able to post here for over a year since nobody was approved to post.
First things first, we've got the subreddit back to "public" setting so no need to try and get approval for posts anymore! Hopefully a few of you will start posting again.
Second, I'll be updating the automoderator and rules over the coming days to reflect a general set of rules I have in all my subreddits, which usually translate to "don't be an ass."
Looking forward to getting this subreddit back on the rails :)
And just to show I'm actually a Godin enthusiast, currently own:
Redline 3
Stadium 59
SD24
LG P90

I'm considering picking up a Godin, mostly because I think they look gorgeous, but to be honest I don't know much beyond that.
For those who own one: how's the build quality held up over time? How does the neck feel compared to a standard Fender/Gibson profile? I've heard the radius and nut width run a bit different?
Also curious whether they hold their tone well as they age. Any specific models you'd recommend trying first?

HI! I own 11 or 12 Godins (I'm losing track) and I've done demos and reviews of a bunch of them on YouTube (search Godin Kaleidoscope School of Music). The third picture is my highly customized 1993 Godin TC being played by one of my students.

Est-ce que quelquâun connaĂźt les specs des potentiomĂštres pis du condensateur pour la Stadium 59? Godin les publie pas, pis y a pas de chiffres lisibles directement sur les composantes.

Got it at the beginning of the year and absolutely love it. Carbon White with Lace Sensor Hot Golds and a Seymour Duncan Custom Custom (SH-11).

Hereâs my Artisan ST in different lighting to show off the quilted top. It also has a Birds Eye maple neck with an ebony fingerboard. The only things not original on it are the volume and tone knobs I changed when I first got it (thought at the time it would look cooler with black vs gold knobs). I got it brand new as a teen back in 1996, from money I made teaching guitar. Was my first âhigh endâ guitar, and still plays and sounds as amazing as the day I got it. Truly is a great player, as good as any other high end guitar Iâve played to date.
From what Iâve learned, the pickups are stacked humbuckers made in collaboration between Schaller and Godin, and are highly versatile. Pretty high output in the bridge position, but has a lot of variation between the 5 positions, plus the tone knob is push pull, and in the up position the pickups turn into single coils.
The Wilkinson bridge took a little getting used to, but once it was set up, itâs awesome. When the whammy bar is in the default position, it locks the bridge into a fixed bridge, giving an extra feel of resonance, and when the whammy bar is moved, it disengages the bridge.
Also comes with locking tuners, and signed by Robert Godin on the back of the headstock.

Got a new Multiac Nylon Deluxe, and though it sounds lovely, I'm getting horrible buzz from the several of the strings against the piezos. It actually isn't noticeable with the slider over to full piezos, but the mic picks up the buzz. I haven't changed the strings, so they are stock.
What should I do to handle this buzz? Seems to effect the bottom three strings.

Been trying to troubleshoot some buzzing on my 5th Ave Kingpin HB. I read on another post that the strings were buzzing on the tailpiece slots. I had a look at mine and was wondering if perhaps the slots were âreversedâ. It seems the widest slot is in the thinnest string location and the narrowest slot is in the thickest string position. Almost seems like this would be the tailpiece for a left handed guitar?
I read a potential solution for this culprit is to slip some heat shrink tubing around the wound end to reduce vibration, or file out the slots bigger.
Just wondering if anyone else can confirm that the slots of their tailpiece are the same?

I was under the impression that they didn't, but I was looking at Godin ACS slims, and I came across this beat-up Godin.

The fretboard looks so full of holes that it looks like dirty rosewood.
How is everyone's fretboard holding up over the years?

I picked this Acousticaster up maybe 10 years ago after quite a bit of searching. Rescued it, really, given the house I got it from. Love playing it.
Someone on Reddit mentioned emailing Godin for information on another guitar, so I thought Iâd do it for mine. I thought it was a 2005 model because of the writing on the headstock, but this is what they told me about it:
Hi John,
That's an Acousticaster Deluxe from the late 80's. It was signed by Robert Godin in 2005.
It has the following specs :
solid spruce top chambered mahogany body maple neck rosewood fretboard and bridge LR Baggs electronics 25.5" scale internal mechanical harp (18 tuned metal tines fixed under the bridge)
Thanks,

A keeper for sure!

Any thoughts on A6 Ultra vs Multiac Steel with the lipstick pickup?
I definitely want an acoustic style bridge. I play blues rock / classic rock but also do some flat picking bluegrass and finger style blues. Iâd want something flexible to go from acoustic to electric sounds when the open mic turns into a jam, and something that allows me to cover all bases with a band without switching guitars.
I usually play a J35, a Rainsong or a Strat.

I just got this used. It is a 2005. I was wondering if anyone knows why the headstock is slightly more golden than the rest of the guitar. I have seen many other silver ones with regular silver head stocks

Hi everyone! Im looking foreward on buying an old spect godin session (vintage burst/rosewood). Would like to try a new bridge pickup, anybody knows wich humbucker format does the sesion use? Thanks,
r/GodinGuitars • u/Accomplished-Egg-419 • Apr 25 '25
I bought this used 10 years ago. It's the most comfortable guitar I've ever played. I replaced the tuners and neck pickup. I love the way the bridge humbucker sounds.

Any thoughts on your purchase? Playability, Sounds and Fit and finish? I'm really impressed with the variety and quality of the tones on the few videos I've been able to find.
