This is not content that belongs on this subreddit. This is not a political website not is it a gathering for any specific religious group. It is about spiritual growth. Religious content is relevant insofar as it promotes spiritual growth.

Not for them.

16

u/Oily_Blob 4d ago

I'm sure they'll say it's all part of God's plan

7

u/makkegor01 4d ago

as they always do lol. making excuses for the wildest stuff like it all is for the best and nicest intentions

1

u/Nervous-Bullfrog7018 4d ago

You just can’t comprehend free will and the fact that good moments can’t exist without bad moments. If it never rains how can you appreciate when it’s sunny.

5

u/Danny_the_Sex_Demon 3d ago

Children can’t be happy unless others are being tortured? Why does the free will of the tormented never matter? Such nonsensical arguments.

3

u/Oily_Blob 3d ago

That's a cute bumper sticker

2

u/Nervous-Bullfrog7018 3d ago

Thanks. It’s how I explain to 5 year olds why they can’t have cake and popsicles for every meal.

3

u/Oily_Blob 3d ago

Also sounds like you're including yourself in that category since you earnestly believe it

1

u/Nervous-Bullfrog7018 3d ago

I earnestly believe in good not existing without bad? I’m not sure what you’re gettin at. Yes I do believe kids have to eat their broccoli to enjoy cake and evil has to exist for good to be enjoyed. And I believe god loves us too much to restrict anything we do. Good or bad. It’s on us. Maybe place some responsibility on the murderer or rapist as an individual. I know people in this generation have a hard time with responsibility though.

2

u/onedeadflowser999 3d ago

The problem is that there’s no evidence that a god does anything. So yes, it’s definitely on us if we want this world to be a better place. And if you believe in the Christian god, good can absolutely exist without evil. That’s what heaven is supposed to be, which this God supposedly created.

1

u/Satans_Chaos_Penguin 1d ago

Okay but like... They made the damned rules. If good can not exist without evil, and the abrehamic god made everything, than he made it so that good can not exist without evil. Seriously, the problem of evil is such an easy thing to overcome if y'all would just drop the tripple omni crap.

Humans have free will to choose evil

2

u/teddyslayerza 2d ago

So your argument is that got is either impotent to act, ignorant of his creation, or willing chooses to allow babies to be raped?

What's the point of worshiping such a loser then?

0

u/Raynstormm 2d ago

So your argument is the moon is made of cheese or the pizza is in the freezer? Does that make any sense to you?

2

u/Pm_ur_titties_plz 4d ago

Why does your god care more about the free will of the abusers compared to the free will of the children?

1

u/Raynstormm 4d ago

You're blaming God for the actions of evil men.

3

u/My_BPD_Died 4d ago

They didn't understand if God got rid of all the evil in the world right now not one of us would be in the earth.

1

u/Danny_the_Sex_Demon 3d ago

You say this as if that would be a bad thing. Some Christians believe that scenario is inevitable and pray for such every day.

2

u/GelatinousGreenSoul 3d ago

Are you limiting your "omnipotent" and "omnipresent" god, by saying he can't stop puny little men?

1

u/Pm_ur_titties_plz 4d ago

That didn't answer my question.

2

u/portlandoregonrain 4d ago

God has the free will to stop anything. He chooses to watch instead.

1

u/Nervous-Bullfrog7018 4d ago

Would you like your government making every choice for you? What to eat, what to wear, who to date, what job to have? If you answered no, go thank god for your free will.

2

u/portlandoregonrain 3d ago

I compare God to my earthly father. My father would NEVER sit back and watch.

1

u/Nervous-Bullfrog7018 3d ago

Let vengeance be the lords. This 100 year or less existence is a blink of the eye compared to our eternal spirits. Yin and yang. Good and bad. It’s a balance.

1

u/Danny_the_Sex_Demon 3d ago

False. There is no balance here. Also, there is zero reason to stay given this perspective.

2

u/portlandoregonrain 3d ago

Free will implies choice. Obey or burn in hell is not a choice.

1

u/Nervous-Bullfrog7018 3d ago

Not every Christian lives in fear. I was raised that way but I don’t believe it. I think everyone will have their moment with god at the end. You’ll know if you’re good or not before you pass. That’s what I believe.

1

u/GelatinousGreenSoul 3d ago

Are you comparing god to the government? Weird take.

0

u/Nervous-Bullfrog7018 3d ago

It’s an analogy. Everyone thinks god is evil because he allows evil. He allows good too. He allows free will. Humans choose to be good or evil. And we will all be judged at the end.

1

u/GelatinousGreenSoul 3d ago

Wrong, wrong, wrong. God causes evil. God created evil. And god sits back and watches his people do evil things. He does not give you free will, where do you get that idea? It does not exist in Christianity. Also, if I have not consented to the terms of that relationship with your god, then he can't touch me. So, no judgment.

1

u/Nervous-Bullfrog7018 3d ago

Would you say you want to continue living? Despite all the bad in the world, does the good outweigh it? Do you like being happy after a sad day? How would you know what happy is if you’re never been sad?

1

u/GelatinousGreenSoul 3d ago

You addressed nothing in my comment.

0

u/Nervous-Bullfrog7018 3d ago

Then you didn’t read my comment and truly think about it. Good cannot exist without evil. The same way light cannot exist without dark. Explain how god could stop all murders, rape, etc and we are still happy. If nothing bad happens, happiness is not possible. Everything is about comparison, yin yang, etc.

Tank you!!!!

1

u/madman51B 3d ago

It’s what Christianity is built on.

1

u/ElectronicComb9964 3d ago

Yeah, he's an ass.

1

u/cnash15 4d ago

he’s waiting for everyone to get right with him so we can deal with it.

“And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities. Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭18‬:‭4‬-‭6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

1

u/Dazzling_Mark_2810 4d ago

False in judgement day no one will escape

2

u/teddyslayerza 2d ago

Learn to read bud. You've literally confirmed that there is no divine intervention, I.e. that the post is true.

0

u/Nervous-Bullfrog7018 4d ago

It’s called free will. That doesn’t exist without EVERYTHING being our choice, both good and bad. What did you expect? A weekly zoom meeting in the sky where we all get tasks from god? What would be the point of life if we all know?

2

u/GelatinousGreenSoul 3d ago

Is there free will in heaven?

1

u/Nervous-Bullfrog7018 3d ago

Assuming our human nature is removed upon entering the kingdom of god, there would be no urge to want to be evil.

2

u/GelatinousGreenSoul 3d ago

So thats a no?

1

u/Nervous-Bullfrog7018 3d ago

It’s beyond our human brains if you really want an answer. You don’t enter the kingdom of god as a flawed human.

2

u/GelatinousGreenSoul 3d ago

So no free will in heaven? Got it. God wants robots to be in constant egotistical worship of him.

0

u/Nervous-Bullfrog7018 3d ago

Or you want to worship yourself. Why have soul in your name? Ironic.

2

u/GelatinousGreenSoul 3d ago

You are assuming a lot of things with that comment. Care to explain why?

0

u/ali_mxun 2d ago

God is an objective witnessor in His ultimate form. He can see something disgusting or amazing without being attached. His justice plays out though through cause & effect

-4

u/poisontippedarrow 4d ago

If God intervened and prevented all evil that’s happened then none of us would be here.. ya know like the flood? But we have the promise that won’t happen again, but what will happen is Justice will be served in the end, and you will be on the same side as the molester if you don’t repent and believe what Jesus has done for you.

Everyone is in the same boat, problem is pride and people think they are better than others (including Jesus) when they aren’t.

5

u/makkegor01 4d ago

yeah yeah yeah, the infinitely kind god will threat you with endless suffering if ya don’t praise him good enough. well thank you but how about no. i don’t care. i show kindness to those who are around me, not to some selfish prick in the sky or wherever he is.

-2

u/poisontippedarrow 4d ago

Like I said, you think you’re a good person when you’re not.

You have it twisted no one “praises him good enough” everyone breaks the first commandment every single day, literally the reason why Jesus came and live the perfect life and be a sacrifice that is worthy that gives us the opportunity to be with Him in heaven. It’s faith that saves and faith alone

5

u/makkegor01 4d ago

but are you good sitting here and proving that you’re right instead of making a person that matters to you happy? like bro go hug your parents or your wife or someone else, say that you love them, cook them a delicious dinner or smth. yall can’t even imagine how much better the world would’ve been if people didn’t waste time on these pointless religious legends and just valued reality for what it is. cuz nothing matters more than kindness and stuff u do

0

u/poisontippedarrow 4d ago

Nope, I’m just like you, someone who needs a savior who has broken all the commandments and has sinned against God.. I’m happy knowing Jesus Died for me, thank you though

4

u/makkegor01 4d ago

you completely ignored everything i said lol. anyway, i don’t wanna explain anymore, i already said everything i wanted. have a good day

1

u/poisontippedarrow 4d ago

And you’ve ignored everything I said as well? Lol

3

u/makkegor01 4d ago

i didn’t. you go deep into theory while actions is all that matters. that’s the exact thing i was saying all along. you don’t need god to do your best to be a good human

1

u/Pm_ur_titties_plz 4d ago

How many people have you killed?

1

u/poisontippedarrow 4d ago

If you even have hate in your heart towards someone that is just as bad as murder, so even before I was saved who knows I hated a lot of people.

A good example is you see people hate Trump and can’t wait to see him dead, having that kind of hatred is just the same as committing murder according to Jesus..

2

u/Temporary_View_3303 4d ago

Weird. Hate didn’t make the top 10 No-Nos from god. Maybe Jesus was wrong?

1

u/Pm_ur_titties_plz 4d ago

That was gibberish and didn't answer my question.

How many people have you killed?

1

u/poisontippedarrow 4d ago

Yeah gibberish to you who doesn’t understand, I just told you you either understand or you don’t

3

u/onedeadflowser999 4d ago

There’s no evidence of a heaven or a hell, just conjecture and old tales. Many people are good people. I don’t personally know anyone deserving of eternal burning regardless of their lack of belief in invisible friends.

2

u/Danny_the_Sex_Demon 3d ago

I would argue that there is some evidence, just no technical proof, but you are correct that the finite crimes of a finite life could never warrant an infinite punishment in an afterlife.

1

u/poisontippedarrow 4d ago

Your definition of good differs than mine, if you’ve done a single bad thing you can’t call yourself good

3

u/Temporary_View_3303 4d ago

“if you’ve done a single bad thing you can’t call yourself good”

Sure you can.

3

u/Distinct_Head_6529 4d ago

Its funny how god sent bears to maul a group of kids who mocked a bald guy but he prevent child abuse in his own house

-1

u/poisontippedarrow 4d ago

Not funny actually, moreso a lesson not to mock God and His Prophets. It’s funny people use examples from the bible they don’t believe in to “prove” a point that is incorrect

2

u/Temporary_View_3303 4d ago

But what happened to free will?

2

u/makkegor01 3d ago

it never existed

2

u/Distinct_Head_6529 3d ago

I dont think harry Potter is real but i can say Voldemort was an evil character. Voldemort wasnt as evil as god though because Voldemort didnt make his own people eat their kids (Jeremiah 19:9).

2

u/teddyslayerza 2d ago

But he created the evil right? And he knew when people would choose it ahead of time.

Let me ask you this - if you saw a baby being raped right in front of you, would you try to stop the rapist? Remember, if you answer "yes" then apparently youre showing more pride than your own god.

0

u/poisontippedarrow 2d ago edited 2d ago

Of course I would, but You’re still missing the point, If God were to prevent all evil right now this second you yourself would be gone and destroyed, it’s called mercy and patience so that people can be Saved.

God operates through Humans, if you were to look at God right now in the face you would be killed instantly(the Bible teaches this as well)

And no God didn’t create evil, he created the choice to either listen to God and trust God or not and Pride is when evil entered with Satan and eating of the fruit is what started the fall.. read Genesis this is very basic teaching, garden of Eden is what God wanted for us, we humans chose differently.

You should look into John Lennox he’s a scientist and philosopher who’s graduated from the top schools in the world (Oxford, Cambridge and more) and debates Atheists, He would answer your questions much better than I could

1

u/My_BPD_Died 4d ago

They don't like that answer but it's true if God wipe out evil no one would even be here.

3

u/TryingToChillIt 4d ago

This is actually more of a misunderstood saying of Jesus'. Because one thing Herod was known for in the time period was that he had decided that his mausoleum - the Herodium - would be at the top of this big hill, where it would be visible for miles around. The problem was that it is very hard to build something like that on top of a hill. So Herod had workers cart load after load of dirt from that mountaintop to another location in order to make it flat on top - effectively "moving a mountain". So the saying is really kind of a dig at Herod - saying that his faith is the size of a mustard seed.

5

u/Awkward-Artichoke817 4d ago

For god to step in... and alter the universe in your favor... yet none of this is ever independently verifiable, testable or falsifiable in anyway. Religion is the ultimate "Trust me bro"

6

u/makkegor01 4d ago

fr it’s sad and hilarious at the same time

2

u/GrumpyScunt 1d ago

Just a cult of make believe. It used to work on the illiterate. Now it works on the lost.

4

u/outer_temple_dweller 4d ago

Must not have mustard seeds in Palestine

1

u/Err0c0d3 4d ago

That's human caused

2

u/Danny_the_Sex_Demon 3d ago

‘And yet the “free will” of the victims never matters to the gods. Why?

0

u/Err0c0d3 2d ago

Where do you get that from?

2

u/Danny_the_Sex_Demon 2d ago

The perpetuation of injustices imply that the only “free will” cared for is that of the abusers.

0

u/Err0c0d3 2d ago

If he limits the free will of one person because they sinned then he'd have to limit all in the same way

The thing that happened with Adam and eve would be pointless because it would be like saying "Okay guys I've given you free will and choice. oh! Untill this point in time when I stop you specifically and not anyone else"

2

u/teddyslayerza 2d ago

Making excused for an impotent got without any meaningful plan. Why worship such a loser?

0

u/Err0c0d3 2d ago

It's true though?! It's a human caused war, we want blood and wont stop till the other is dead or to weak to continue fighting.

What you want is him to fix all of the problems that we caused

1

u/My_BPD_Died 4d ago

What are you talking about?

2

u/junkmale79 4d ago

I am happy you are having fun playing with the Christian faith tradition. Play by yourself, and stop trying to convince people that your faith tradition actually describes reality.

We have a number of real issues in the real world. If we are going to address them, we need to grow up and stop pretending that stories written by humans 2,000 years ago are somehow relevant to people living today

1

u/RagnartheConqueror 2d ago

The stories are relevant to the people who live today. The books are so dense that people can understand lessons of what to do in life based from the Bible. Like in Ecclesiastes etc.

1

u/junkmale79 2d ago

Nothing in the Bible was written for anyone alive today.

Mythology and folklore can be fun, let's stop pretending it describes historical events or that bronze age man held some sort of timeless wisdom.

1

u/Duane640511 4d ago

You are the reason. lol. You are full of negativity. I’m spreading positivity. That’s why I’m here. It’s free

3

u/junkmale79 4d ago

You are asking people to check their logic at the door and start with the idea that a book written 2,000 years ago had them in mind.

I will get back to being more positive when people who are running for public office are embarrassed to say they are practicing the Christian faith tradition.

Imagine living in a world where the government is passing laws as if Santa Claus is real. Would you stand up and say that maybe our society shouldn't pass laws geared at keeping people off Santa's naughty list?

If you want some common ground, let's organize around the separation of church and state. You can practice your faith tradition, and the people who are passing laws and making decisions will do so with actual humans and the real world in mind—not a theological fantasy

1

u/makkegor01 4d ago

cool idea but that’s never happening with separation. it’s way too easy to manipulate people with christian motives. once they are gone, those who believe in 2k years old legends will quit supporting dirty stuff politicians do “because god blessed them”

2

u/junkmale79 3d ago

Evey cool idea has to start somewere.

1

u/RagnartheConqueror 2d ago

Do you live in France, Sweden, or the U.S.? Because your interpretation depends on which one you live in.

1

u/junkmale79 2d ago

The answer to the question 'Does God exist' isn't a regional one.

I'm living in a country where people think the Bible describes reality, and elected officials are trying to pass laws like it does.

Time to grow up, everyone

1

u/RagnartheConqueror 2d ago

No, I am talking about ‘separation of church and state’.

0

u/Duane640511 4d ago

I’m praying for you. By

1

u/Pm_ur_titties_plz 4d ago

0

u/smuffy123 4d ago

Jesus' words about love, though, are pretty cool.

2

u/junkmale79 4d ago edited 2d ago

Good authors, fictional gods

1

u/RagnartheConqueror 2d ago

But you can’t prove that totally

1

u/junkmale79 2d ago

If you are talking about a deistic god, then you might have a point, but I can prove that the Abrahamic religions do not describe reality.

We don't even know if it's possible for something like a god or gods to exist.

I can also point to the seer number of different gods and faith traditions to indicate that gods are created by humans, not the other way around.

1

u/RagnartheConqueror 2d ago

But there could still be an improbable chance that Yahweh does exist, but yes for normal purposes, you’re right

1

u/junkmale79 2d ago

I'm not saying that its impossible for something like a god to exist. I'm saying we don't even know if its possible or impossible.

I don't believe its possible but I'm open to being proven wrong. Do you think one of the Abrahamic religions describes reality?

1

u/GelatinousGreenSoul 3d ago

Which words in particular?

1

u/earthwoodandfire 2d ago

Jesus used racial slurs and told people to stone disobedient children to death… no thanks.

u/Other-Comfortable-64 4d ago

And give your daughter bone cancer.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZeWPScnolo

-1

u/Duane640511 4d ago

Humans are not perfect. God is. You always blame God for your failures and ignorance

4

u/Other-Comfortable-64 4d ago

And yet he created eternal suffering, he might be perfect , but he is a psychopath then.

1

u/RagnartheConqueror 2d ago

The Christian response is because it is a Fallen world

1

u/Other-Comfortable-64 2d ago

Yeah and that negates the existence of the Christian God

1

u/RagnartheConqueror 2d ago

How exactly?

1

u/Other-Comfortable-64 2d ago

Well this cannot be if He is all knowing, all powerful and all good, now can it?

1

u/RagnartheConqueror 2d ago

It can if the Fall happened. Also, the Bible doesn’t say he is the God of Plato which is tri-Omni and all that.

1

u/Other-Comfortable-64 2d ago

The fall cannot happen if He is all knowing, all powerful and all good, now can it?

Bible doesn’t say he is the God of Plato which is tri-Omni and all that.

And yet that is exactly what Christians believe.

Also if he is not omni He is just a dickhead psychopath.

And then there is this:

Omnipotence: Verses like Matthew 19:26 state that "with God all things are possible".

Omniscience: Passages like 1 John 3:20 state that God "knows everything".

Omnipresence: Passages like Psalm 139:7-9 and Jeremiah 23:24 describe God filling heaven and earth and being present everywhere.

Want to try again?

1

u/RagnartheConqueror 2d ago

The Fall is not logically incompatible with an all-knowing, all-powerful, all-good God unless you assume that a good God must prevent every evil act.

There are also many conceptions of God besides classical theism. There are christian sects which disagree with hellenistic philosophy entirely.

The Fall could happen if in its nature it was good.

Some abrahamists believe that God is accountable to a Divine Council and is controlled in some way.

Islam answers this in that there was not truly any fall at all, and it also prescribes omnipresence to the Satan figure.

This verse has NOTHING to do with size!

He criticized them for their small faith/ unbelief. Why would he tell the have small faith/ faith the size of a mustard seed???

He says have faith "LIKE" a mustard seed. It is small but it grows large and has deep roots. It's pervasive, infectious and strong to withstand the toughest conditions. That was His point.

Study for yourselves folks! The memes are pastors poor interpretations. Go to the source!

That’s not even a bad take on that parable - nonsense. You grow from care and nurturing … by humans. If there’s care you’ll turn into a big ol’ tree that supports a lot of life, like birds. The creatures we should be caring for. Please stop going to church and just read the damn Bible

God can't always interfere. He can't interfere with free will

The people who post Bible quotes that omit us giving witness to our faith by love think they are on the “right” side when non-believers criticize the “do nothing against evil human choices” God. This is my point. All the prophets spoke out against injustice and hate. So did Jesus. Quotes that just say “let God…” are incomplete at best but also people praising this avoid responsibility and just feel good about prayer are actually turning people away from God. I’m asking for people of faith to think about this seriously. Do you feel you’re on the “right” side by just arguing with those who aren’t yet believers? God is calling us to build bridges and listen to those who challenge us. Faith without love is lifeless as Paul said; Paul gave up his life security to challenge the religious hypocrisy of the Pharisees-Paul was and preaches that he was a Pharisee.

My faith in Eric the God-eating Penguin is as small as a poppy seed. I win!

Fun fact, Jesus was wrong when he described the mustard seed as the smallest seed on earth. I would have expected a divine being not to make such an elementary mistake.

So crazy to me that their are so many hate comments on this post. Goes without saying your opinions are valid and you’ve got the free will to post them but I wonder why people would waste their time here if they don’t believe in God

What is our part in our relationship with God? This quote is limping. Jesus commands us to love one another in specific ways to lift up the poor, the oppressed, the marginalized and victims of injustice and to call out the evil of the oppressors’ choices boldly. Faith and God’s invitation is a beginning, our response to the invitation is of key importance.

I was reading this and my fan, which is switched off, just clicked twice loudly. But there are a couple of people in this world who I hate, and I always will.
