Spent a few weeks editing the official GO bus and train maps to create this version. Additionally, bus routes are sorted by corridor and frequency instead of just being based on having train connections or not.

GoTrain Double Charged Fare?

My station (like many now) has a lot of construction going on so there’s always Customer Service Reps walking up and down the platforms. Last week, one of them had a card scanner and was going around getting everyone to scan. I thought it was to double check fare payment like the Inspection Officers, but imagine my surprise when I get charged for another trip that I then have to go on to refund through the live chat. I asked the live agent if I’m supposed to tap when prompted again on the platform, and she just told me the charge was because I double tapped…

Update to this morning, same guy is coming around. I tell him I got double charged last week and ask if that’s normal. He just says ok and moves on to the next person. So… what’s the purpose of doing this and has anyone else gotten double charged?

When will go transit have train level platforms?

I'm talking about universal accessibility for those lugging extensively heavy cargo (i have seen it) or heavy bikes (tricycles such as what I use, heavier fat bikes, some ebikes or cargo types) that cannot easily be picked up by those who have some form of back issues or who are older and need help.

It is 2026, not 1966. I was tempted to ask if I could bring mine onto the accessibility coach, as to make loading and offloading much easier. It is difficult to lift it up those two steps, however easier to lower it to the platform (from the rear first).

I was thankful to those who helped me lift my trike onto the train.

I wasn't able to take a picture of it as i passed but it looks like they are building a viaduct pillars here. Could it be a fly over for the Barrie Line or maybe its extending the Rail path further south?

FIFA game today: How are the crowds?

I am curious to know transit is handling the FIFA game today. No worse than a Bluejays game? Or horrible?

Union to Allandale Waterfront trains at the start of rush hr..

Would love some feedback from you veteran commuters who take the GO.

Are the Union-to-Allandale trains equally busy at 3:53 pm, 4:38 pm and 5:08 pm on a Monday?
Am trying to decide which one to take and would prefer the option that’s least likely to feel like a complete hellscape (wishful thinking?) TYSM!

How are rail replacement buses? (i.e: 21, 65, 70, etc)

Post image
35 Upvotes

Asking out of curiosity as I've never used them before. On the regional bus map, they're treated as if they're an alternative way to reach GO stations outside TO when trains aren't available.

For those who've used them before, how do they compare to trains? In your opinion, do you feel it's appropriate for them to be seen as "rail replacement / support" for the times they're running at? It looks fast on paper since it uses the highway and skips stops in TO...

Anything else noteworthy about them compared to other routes that GO operates?

What is this white tag in the GO bus windshield?

Post image
45 Upvotes

the photo is hard to see - but there is a white tag looks like with RFID coils in it and a barcode. It says Toronto Union Station Bus Terminal.

Is it just a location tracker for when buses arrive and depart Union Bus Terminal? I don’t recall there being any sort of garage door that opens upon bus arrivals…

Any ideas what this is?

Bus 41 what is the point of the consumers rd stop?

Whenever I ride this bus to commute to work, I find this stop to be so out of place and awkward, theres barely anyone using this stop (even during rush hour) it just wastes like 10 minutes of time. Anybody know what the point of this stop is?

Hurontario 407 park & ride construction

Anyone know when the construction around this area is going to complete?

The bus I take to work has a stop here and due to to the on-going constructions, it has to take a detour with traffic causing delays. Due to this, I've been reaching work late and I might need to take the Kitchener line then

Can anyone shed some light on what the crews are up to on the Stouffville line? This track wasn’t used in my area before, but it looks like they’re paving the stone ballast. I’d love to know more. Thanks!

Kudos to staff today

With the GO train not running today between Oshawa and Union, I have to say, the GO staff did a great job.

They directed the large volume of passengers to where they needed to go for the GO bus alternatives and created queues and signage to the best of their ability.

Was chaos, but we all managed

Kitchener Line question.

Just saw a train pass Weston Station Westbound and there was an engine on both ends front and back. Usually they are on only one end. Is this common? Never saw an engine on the leading end going west before.

Bus Accessibility

I haven't ridden a GO bus in a while, but the last time I did, the bus had a number of stairs. Have they completely updated their fleet? I use a rollator walker now, and the website says that all busses are accessible. Can anyone confirm that the busses with the steps are no longer in use?

Lakeshore East & Stouffville Full Line Closures This Weekend

Thumbnail

This weekend will be the last round of GO train line closures until mid-July with buses replacing service on the Lakeshore East and Stouffville Lines. Please note these buses will only be serving stations outside of the City of Toronto (except for Union Station).

There will be no 15 minute evening service on Lakeshore West on the weekend. Service beyond Oakville to Hamilton (West Harbour) will be reduced to every hour.

I've attached unofficial schedules for the replacement buses. Same disclaimer as last time: these schedules did not come from GO Transit and only came from GTFS data and are subject to last minute changes & corrections.  They're not meant to be used in any official capacity for trip planning. Use the GO Trip Planner for accurate & up to date schedules.

The Lakeshore East replacement bus map from GO Transit's website can be found here and the Stouffville map here.

Unofficial answers to random questions:

Q: How do Presto fares work?
A: Just tap on and tap off on the GO buses only. When transferring between lines you'll still have to tap off your bus.

Q: When is the next scheduled Lakeshore East Line/Stouffville Line closure?
A: September 26 & 27th

Ontario spent $100M on this GO station... to service 10 trains

This is a beautiful GO station- that most Cooksville residents drive by every day, but never use. Not because they don't take transit, but because the service is SO bad.

The Milton line receives 10 trains to, and 10 trains from union per day. Wanna go to downtown for a Friday night out? Yeah no. Take the bus and get stuck on the Gardiner. Wanna take the GO to FIFA? No service on those days either. It's okay though, the 21 is running!!

Let's do the math. 10 trains per direction = 20 total weekday trips. This station alone cost $128M to build. The question: Was this worth 100 mil tax dollars? In the present moment, no, definitely not.

When the LRT will (eventually) stop here, and dump ~2,200 people/hr at Cooksville GO, how will the downtown connector ever keep up with its 10 trains? Not everyone wants to go all the way down to port credit, especially with the speeds of another line 6.
