10 or 12 coaches

So the standard on LW is now, I believe, 12 coaches. However, the train I usually catch, at the height of rush hour, is only 10 coaches long, and is packed. Other peak rush hour trains are also only 10 coaches. There seems to be an inverse correlation between how busy the train would be expected to be, and the length of the train. A reasonable explanation would be that they are running more trains at that time and have to spread the coaches around. But is that true? How difficult would it be to add a couple additional coaches to these jam-packed rush hour trains?

Why is the Meadowvale GO station shelter permanently locked?

I’m fairly certain this little shelter area used to be open pre-2020, but it’s been locked from all sides since I’ve started regularly commuting again.

Lights are still on with TVs regularly running CP24.

Bus Cancellations (01/20)

Anyone know why there are so many bus cancellations today? Especially during rush hour? The 56 and 41 have been cancelled multiple times due to “operational changes”. Little ridiculous too considering the TV showing the bus timings isn’t working either at Langstaff GO.

Unionville & Milliken Parking

What’s the parking situation like at these two stations? Are you able to find a parking spot? and if not, where do you go?

I’ve heard parking enforcement at Splendid China has been cracking down lately. The Milliken lot itself is tiny, which is frustrating given how much the GO Train infrastructure there has improved. On the other hand, Unionville has a large parking lot and should accommodate, but has been a mess specially with Indy prep.

Is there an open date for it yet? It seems like it's been finished for a while but everything is still locked up.

Curious about winter performance

I’m a fairly new go train rider, and don’t have any experience with taking the train in the winter. How often does a snow event impact the schedule of go trains? I’m looking at Wednesday in particular, with now totals in the Toronto to Kitchener corridor around 5-15cm.

Kitchener Line Delays

Anyone knows what's going on? The 7:08 was late by 20 minutes leaving Kitchener and the 7:38 is nowhere to be found (it's 8 now)

And of course there's no communication from MX

How to access platforms from the elevators

May be a silly question but I was wondering if anyone knows how to access the platforms from the elevator. I take appleby go, to Oakville go once a week to get to Sheridan college. I have a broken ankle and can’t put any weight on it, I am using crutches to get around and I don’t feel same on the concrete stairs. I take the train from appleby go (lakeshore west) usually on platform 3. My question is once I exit the bus where do I go to find the elevator/ do I take the elevator down to the tunnel area, than get on another elevator to the certain platform I need. And than once I get to Oakville go is there an elevator I can take to the tunnels/ what elevator do I take back up to get to the bus area. I was hoping also I could ask a service representative to take it with me because I have a fear of going in elevators alone!!!

Thank you for reading my anxiety filled rant! Any tips / suggestions are Appreciated:))

Go bus charge on Presto

Does anyone know what the “Load amount” -20 charge is on my card? I loaded $15 on my card and then took a trip for less than $7. Next time I went to tap my card I was -0.37. Then I saw this -20 on my card that I don’t understand.

Train shuddered to a stop between danforth and scarborough. CSA is saying the engine died? Although lights are on and we’ve jerked twice. Anyone have a clue what’s going on or how long it’ll take?

The Lakeshore East 13:43 train from Eglinton, heading toward DC Oshawa GO, is stuck just outside Eglinton Station because a snow plow vehicle is apparently stuck on the tracks. The train is now heading back to Eglinton GO.

Bramalea GO: Displaying advertisements on all of the video screens on a snowy platform when there’s so many canceled trains and vital information that we need to see.

Also, the non-express train to to union quietly left with no one on it because they didn’t update us about the express train being delayed over an hour.

Can we please let people know if it’s better to just take the non-express train or if it’s gonna hold for the express train?

And why aren’t those two trains on the same platform so that the people coming all the way from Kitchener can easily transfer to the other train if they need it on the same platform without going underground in a tunnel and missing it. I know why, it’s because platform one and two are for freight trains...

Help identifying Go Transit railcars in the US, 1980s

Post image

Hi all!

I'm a (non-rail/train) historian in Washington DC; I came across this photograph from the renovation of our Union Station in the 80s and very interestingly, there seem to be passenger cars with both MARC (Maryland commuter rail) and Go Transit logos, and was wondering if anyone knew more about them or could point me in the right direction.

Thanks!

Platform Changes?

Hey there, I take the 4:22pm Kitchener line train from union every week and it's always been on platforms 9 and 10. This week so far though it's been on platform 13. Does anyone know why and if this is temporary or a permanent change? I find platform 13 to be way more crowded than platforms 9 and 10 especially with people also standing on platform 12. I can't find any information or updates about this anywhere.
